04.01.2022 More about Garry King- the man behind Deliberate self-harm in adolescents and young adults: Prevention Strategies and Intervention. An international perspective. Garry King has extensive experience with working with young people. This experience is the result of Garry's work as an expert Guidance Officer, Teacher, Youth Worker and counsellor. He holds Degrees in welfare and in education, as well as a Masters Degrees in Suicidology and a Masters Degree in counselling. He has p...reviously worked as the youth welfare consultant for the Australian Institute for Suicide Research and Prevention. He was appointed an adjunct lecturer at Central Queensland University and is the recipient of a Churchill Fellowship to further research into youth suicide. Garry has written a number of journal articles and books on youth welfare. He is a peer reviewer for the International Journal of Crisis Intervention and for the journal Suicide Prevention. Garry is an invited author for the 2016 School Social Work (USA) on suicide prevention and intervention. He was an invited presenter at the 2018 World Positive Psychology and Mindfulness Conference in New York. He was a 2018 keynote presenter at the Schools and Mental Health Australian Conference.
