25.01.2022 For transformation to begin, it first starts with mindset shifts. The Australian Engineers Declare Network’s mission is to ensure that action and change happen at a pace and scale that is commensurate to the emergency we are facing. Find out more about our movement at: https://lnkd.in/grhkcRE... The quote below was borrowed from Jonathan Davidson, Financial Conduct Authority, and rephrased from "Transforming culture in financial services - Driving purposeful cultures". #EngineersDeclare #Engineering #climateleadership #biodiversityconservation #Braveleadership #northstar #purposedriven

13.01.2022 The new Green Star Buildings rating tool will replace the legacy tool beginning in December 2021. So how much of a stretch is the tool? Norththrop's Sustainability Manager and Engineers Declare coordinator Chris Buntine and Claire Bowles MSc from i2C Architects explain why the new Green Star Buildings rating tool shouldn’t be seen as way to ‘get credit points’, rather, it should be embraced as a project’s ‘North Star’, guiding design and establishing the sustainability story. https://lnkd.in/gbCEecE #EngineersDeclare #greenstar #energyefficiency #builtenvironment #buildings #architecture #buildingdesign #energy #construction #sustainability #highperformance #refurbishments #climateaction

04.01.2022 As graduate campaigns kick off across the country this month, employers take note: Generation Purpose will be vetting their prospective employers through "purpose" and "fidelity" lens. A 2019 report by Accenture found that Gen Ps "are more likely to vocalize their opinions and turn their backs on companies that falter." Case in point: "For 16 years, Dar-Lon Chang worked as an engineer at ExxonMobil. Fresh out of graduate school, he was by all accounts exactly the type of pe...rson the company is known for hiring: smart, driven, diligent. He’d had an interest in alternative energy since his college days, and thought science and technology would blaze a path towards a future without fossil fuels. Exxon, he believed, could help lead the way. When he could, Chang tried to nudge the company along in small ways, holding out the hope that change would come. But with each passing year, Chang watched the climate crisis grow more urgent, while the company he had devoted his career to only deepened its commitment to oil and gas. Eventually, he became disillusioned." If you are an undergraduate, find out which organisations have signed up to the declaration commitments and hold them accountable: https://lnkd.in/grhkcRE #ClimateEmergency #graduatejobs #engineeringstudents https://insideclimatenews.org//a-disillusioned-exxonmobil/
