20.01.2022 On Sunday the 19th July 2020 EDD Aero was called out to attend two shooting incidents. The first was a shooting at Blacktown where a female had reported that sh...e'd been shot in the upper right arm. She was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to hospital in a stable condition, A crime scene was established and a canvass on the surrounding area was conducted. The second incident occurred at Rooty Hill where several shots had been fired into a house. A search of the area by Aero resulted in him locating two bullet casings. Well done Aero, what a busy night for you !!!

17.01.2022 It is with sadness that the Committee of the ESSAQ announce the cancellation of our June events for 2020, due to Covid 19. Thankfully our international judge has agreed to come in 2021, so we look forward to making our shows TWICE as amazing - both for show exhibitors and our pet owning friends. Stay safe everyone!

11.01.2022 Like humans, all dogs go through a #teenage phase! Contrary to puppy training there is little information on teenage dog behaviour and training. Does your dog ...have energy to spare? 10.01.2022 Coopers training is going fantastic so Steve is now preparing him for the last stage of training. Coopers jobs will be to locate Koala scats and Crazy Ants. ... In this exercise Steve is training Cooper to locate one target and then go on to another target, making sure he doesnt go back to the first find. This is an important stage as the dog must keep moving on to look for more targets, so it requires this specific training. And it looks like Cooper has got it!

08.01.2022 I am very sad to tell you that our big day on 9th August has to be postponed.... Due to COVID-19 Dogs Queensland have CLOSED our venue for the remainder of 2020! The ESSAQ have spent the last 24 hours trying to find another, but an affordable, safe & secure venue at short notice has proven impossible. We will let you all know when we reschedule and hope to see you all there? Hope everyone understands. We are so so disappointed...

05.01.2022 - If you have a couple of spare minutes each day, why not train your dog to help out around the house? ...Dogs love to be given a job to do and Rufus happily waits around the kitchen each time we are in there just in case he gets 'called to duty'. Or possibly he's waiting for dropped food - who knows :P Some tips: Start off by teaching the dog to use their nose to target your hand. If your dog already knows that, you can skip to step 4 in the video. If your dog has never done anything like this before, go easy and keep the training session really short and simple - focus on one step at a time. This will take at least a couple of training sessions over a couple of days to accomplish. Be patient and don't be afraid to go back a step if your dog is not getting it. I don't use obedience commands like "stay" when I am training this because I don't want to have to worry about my dog breaking a formal command. So I usually use a more casual "wait" command when I just need him to hold on. You'll notice I have a different command for using his nose to target my hand ("touch") versus using his nose to target the drawer ("close it"). This is because I want to keep the cues separate so there is no confusion about what I am asking for in the future. At the end, training them to only do it on cue is important! Or else you will get an over eager dog who will want to close the drawer as soon as you open it or while your hand is in it - ask me how I learnt that lesson :P I hope you give this trick a try! If you have any questions, feel free to pop it below - Sharon

01.01.2022 Jessie is now 18 weeks old and like Max she is doing so well with her training for her to work in Zimbabwe. This next stage of Jessies training is looking for ...the poacher. Note that she will run to where she last saw the poacher, then she uses her nose to pick up the scent of the person and continues to search. Until boom! Gotcha poacher! Steve is very pleased with the progression of the pups! See more
