With one-on-one lessons with me we can talk about all kinds of individual topics that you cannot talk about at a school.... A very powerful way to learn a language is to talk with another about your passions. Excitement burns the words you use into your brain! Do you know what "abs""pecs" and "biceps" are? How about a "six pack"?

18.01.2022 Let me know if you want an Australian nature lesson. My student and I found this bird when we had our lesson in the forest. This is a "magpie" one of Australia's most iconic birds. They sing all the time but watch out in spring! Sometimes they attack people to protect their babies.

15.01.2022 How about a lesson live in the Australian bush (forest?) I took my phone with me and had a lesson with my student on ZOOM. Although he lives in Taiwan we went on a bushwalk together looking for kangaroos. They live near my house. ... We didn't find any but we found old gum trees like this as well as many singing Australian birds.

11.01.2022 Bushfire! Parts of Australia are on fire and look like the end of the world. Today, one of my students requested that we discuss this. Not only are bushfires terrible but many people are saying that they are the worst ever this year. Many people are angry at our government because they think the government is terrible at taking action to stop climate change.... Please look at this little video from our national broadcaster the ABC. It is from a children's news show called Behind the News. It is great for English learning and has English subtitles.

At work, I used to always feel that my English was not very good. After three months without textbooks, Youtube etc. I am listening better and I find a lot of words I just learned from Mike! I find that English can actually be expressed in simple words. Speaking English is not so complicated. Stop translating into English in your head and speak English in English. Only then can you really improve!

Expand your vocabulary while discussing the show and hot social topics like : homophobiamarriage and technology's effects on us? Better than looking at a boring vocabulary list about a topic that you are not interested in and will never talk about!
