24.01.2022 Here I am in 2005, when I was a Japanese teacher in primary school.Star Wars Episode 3 came out that year. The kids stopped calling me "Mr. Geisner" or "Sensei." Do you know what they called me?

23.01.2022 "Fluency." "Confidence." "Real Communication." - whaddya talkin' about Mike? (Whaddya=What are you)

23.01.2022 For those of you who would like a real challenge we can talk about world issues. There are so many, but these are the big ones. If you can think of some others, of course we can adapt the package for you.

22.01.2022 Do you go to the gym to "keep in shape?" I do. The other night one of my students was going to a workout after our lesson and so we talked about that! With one-on-one lessons with me we can talk about all kinds of individual topics that you cannot talk about at a school.... A very powerful way to learn a language is to talk with another about your passions. Excitement burns the words you use into your brain! Do you know what "abs""pecs" and "biceps" are? How about a "six pack"?

19.01.2022 I hope you come to visit Melbourne one day. When you doplease say 'Melbourne' correctly. If you say people will not understand you. In Australia this kind of forest is called 'the Bush.' This bush is 10 minutes from my house in Melbourne and there are kangaroos there!

18.01.2022 Let me know if you want an Australian nature lesson. My student and I found this bird when we had our lesson in the forest. This is a "magpie" one of Australia's most iconic birds. They sing all the time but watch out in spring! Sometimes they attack people to protect their babies.

15.01.2022 How about a lesson live in the Australian bush (forest?) I took my phone with me and had a lesson with my student on ZOOM. Although he lives in Taiwan we went on a bushwalk together looking for kangaroos. They live near my house. ... We didn't find any but we found old gum trees like this as well as many singing Australian birds.

13.01.2022 My new intro video about me and how you will acquire English fluency and confidence. https://youtu.be/-cYNlXx1PyI

12.01.2022 The kids started calling me "Obi Wan." ... Why? Why?

11.01.2022 Oh ha ha ha! I'm so sleepy in this video. Your hard working teacher getting organised for a great 2020 with you.

11.01.2022 Bushfire! Parts of Australia are on fire and look like the end of the world. Today, one of my students requested that we discuss this. Not only are bushfires terrible but many people are saying that they are the worst ever this year. Many people are angry at our government because they think the government is terrible at taking action to stop climate change.... Please look at this little video from our national broadcaster the ABC. It is from a children's news show called Behind the News. It is great for English learning and has English subtitles.

11.01.2022 'STOP TRANSLATING IN YOUR HEAD AND SPEAK ENGLISH IN ENGLISH!.' Translation of Tracy's great recommendation the other day: After having my second child in my early thirties, I have started to feel that my life is not enough and that I need to make some progress.... At work, I used to always feel that my English was not very good. The subject of conversation was always limited to work, so it was difficult for me to chat with foreign colleagues, go abroad and entertain foreign guests at home. The content of our school textbooks is always so academic; there is no real - life English at all! Everyday words such as: kitchen, sink, pot, kettle, cupboard, etc. never appear in our textbooks. How to describe the taste of foods, their cooking methods? Of course, when we grow up, we do not know how to introduce ourselves and our country in English. We can’t even express how we love to drink pearl milk tea, its ingredients and texture. Yes, I was like this before; my English ability was so poor. Because I look after my children at home it is not easy for me to leave home for lessons, so I did research on the Internet and came across Mike. Mike is my favourite teacher. He is very experienced and has taught at school for many years. He also has a wealth of life experience. A lesson with him is like having a chat with a friend. Let's talk about your life today. How do you go to work? Tell me how you play that sport. How are your children? The most natural and practical way is to use English to discuss your life! Mike gives me a lot of space to express myself. I have good interactions with him and he guides me to express my meanings in other ways when I don’t know the words. After three months without textbooks, Youtube etc. I am listening better and I find a lot of words I just learned from Mike! I find that English can actually be expressed in simple words. Speaking English is not so complicated. Stop translating into English in your head and speak English in English. Only then can you really improve!

08.01.2022 How about an intermediate English lesson about Black Mirror: "Striking Vipers?" Expand your vocabulary while discussing the show and hot social topics like : homophobiamarriage and technology's effects on us? Better than looking at a boring vocabulary list about a topic that you are not interested in and will never talk about!

06.01.2022 Nobody wants to have a boring conversation! Then why study boring topics? Choose the Entertainment Package and I will customise it to your interests and what is hot at the moment! Topics: Movies, Series, Books, Social Media, Amusement Parks, Music, Apps, Sports Events, Computer Games, Celebrities

03.01.2022 I am already conducting online tutoring using this great app which is similar to Skype and has some useful features for teaching languages.
