13.01.2022 Ok ladies, i just wanted to do an education post on lash extensions. With so many lash tecnicians out there now I wanted to provide you with some inside knowledge about the process. I am a Beauty Therapist of 18 years and have been qualified and performing lash extensions for 13 years. Isolation... Ensuring only the extension is adhered to 1 natural eyelash is absolutely crucial. The isolation process can be tedious and take time especially with tiny new baby lashes growing in. If the lashes are not isolated correctly it can cause damage, pain and look clumpy. Skin The extensions are placed closed to lash line on the natural eyelash about 0.1mm away from the lid but should not touch the skin. If the glue touches the skin it can cause an allergic reaction, swelling, pain and infection. Excess glue You may think the more glue used the better the extensions will adhere but this is not true. Too much glue causes lashes to clump together causing pain, makes lashes feel stiff can cause damage. Weight and length of the extension This is a massive issue, especially with volume extensions. At the beginning of your appointment your natural eyelashes should be assessed and a plan created to suit your lashes to ensure no damage is caused. Lashes that are too thick or too long cause damage, sometimes irreparable. Home care Lash Extensions should be washed daily using a special lash shampoo. This ensures natural oils, make up and eye secretions are washed away to ensure your lashes last as long as possible and prevent infection from build up. Extensions need to be brushed gently daily after shampooing and keep them sitting perfectly and prevent clumping. You need to avoid heat and steam from hair dryers, hot steamy showers, saunas, oven ect. This will cause the glue to turn back to a liquid and cause lash loss and clumping.
