20.01.2022 The collision repair industry wants to know where can you section, does the OEM have a sectioning procedure, and where can I find the sectioning procedure? Most OEMs allow sectioning to outer body panels and the front and rear rails. These parts have complex designs to collapse or transfer collision forces in a specific manner. Introducing a sectioning joint to many of these parts will alter how the part reacts to those collision forces. Toyota repair manuals do offer procedu...res for sectioning of various parts. 19.01.2022 As any driver knows, surface scratches plague the visual aesthetics of a vehicles paint finish. The result makes the finish look drab, lackluster, obscure and in some cases can cause the need for repainting. Many people fall victim to thinking their paint is in pristine condition simply because its been recently detailed, only to wind up disappointed months later. Its important to understand that not every scratch can be removed.... The basis of a scratch begins with depth. The depth of a scratch will determine whether it can be simply buffed out or has to be repainted. If you were to examine a scratch as part of a cross section, the paint surface has different layers: 1: Metal 2: Primer 3: Colour 4: Clear Coat As a general rule of thumb to determine if a scratch is to deep is: "If your fingernail gets caught or resistance is felt in the scratch... then it is too deep." The scratch has gone beyond the clear coat. That is the case with this Porsche 911. The owner advised us an attempt was made to buff out a scratchs. As a result of excessive buffing the clear coat had been buffed through or buff burned the paint. The only prescribed method was to have the affected surfaces repainted. 16.01.2022 This Landcruiser had stone chips, scratches, dents, scuff marks and some rust... but over all it was a very tidy cruiser to begin with. Due to almost every panel having some kind of damage or imperfection, only a full body respray was the prescribed method. The rear tray was removed, all panels stripped down including the bull bar to ensure all parts are painted to replicate that original factory finish just like on the show room floor.... 15.01.2022 MAINTAINING OEM PAINT Polishing / Waxing There is an easy way to assess the condition of the paintwork and judge whether appropriate protective measures have been taken or are necessary.... New and well-maintained paintwork is water repellent, i.e. water droplets form a bead on the surface. If the water fails to form beads after several car washes or after some time, this is an indication that the paint needs re-preserving. The paintwork is in a very well-maintained condition. The water droplets form beads on the paint. If the paintwork is still in a well-maintained condition. Small puddles of water form. If the paintwork is in a poorly maintained condition. Larger pools of water form. Droplets no longer form beads. Reapply polish and wax every 3 to 4 months. Intensive treatment: If the paint has started to fade then it is best to use a professional polishing machine. 02.01.2022 Look what we have now... A new spray booth installed by MASTER BOOTH. Nothing but clean paintwork on vehicles. WHAT IS A SPAY BOOTH? A paint spray booth is an area where the application of spray paint on vehicles can be controlled. The purpose of the booth is to provide increased efficiency and cleaner paint jobs, whilst also keeping employees safe from the hazardous products used. Spray painting can cause overspray and a paint booth acts as confinement area for this, there...fore dangerous situations can be avoided and the main body shop can remain clean. Furthermore, a spray booth allows spray jobs of the highest quality to be carried out, due to the booth being dirt and dust-free environment. To elaborate, the booth contains a filter that supplies clean air, meaning any contaminants are caught in the filter, to prevent anything landing in the wet paint. 01.01.2022 Often people who purchase new vehicles are wanting to add their personal touch, by adding, changing or painting parts and panels. Some times less is more. A perfect example here with this Toyota Landcruiser, the owner asked if we could do something with all the chrome. We said "Paint it black"... We removed all badges, chrome drip rail moulding, grille, door handles and locks... and hit them with some satin jet black.
