24.01.2022 We would like to inform all of our valued clients at Entire Podiatry about the precautions we're taking in each of our locations, due to the evolving COVID-19 situation. The well being of our patients and staff has always been a high priority, so strict hygiene standards are something we enforce everyday throughout the year. These standards include: * Ensuring hand sanitiser (min 60% alcohol based) is readily available to all staff and patients * Ensuring all staff are washin...g their hands with soap and water regularly and podiatrists pre- and post-treatment * Being vigilant with hygiene standards ensuring all surfaces such as benches, floors, chairs, machines and products are cleaned regularly with a medical grade disinfectant spray * Using disposable gloves and supplies for podiatry treatments * All staff are following all mandatory guidelines relating to the use of autoclaves to sterilise instruments Should you wish to discuss this further, please don't hesitate to contact our clinics.

24.01.2022 A testimonial from our podiatrist Pan, who was recently involved in a Health Outreach program.... worth a read! What an incredible opportunity only made better by the lessons I was lucky enough to take away from the North East Arnhem lands and its Yolu (Yolngu) people. From heading out in the 4WD trusty troopies on to the rugged terrains, to get to some of the remote homelands, you learn to respect the vast and diverse landscapes, from its remarkable red earth to the prist...ine coastlines, just shear beauty! Upon setting up shop at various locations each day, whether it was on a persons verandah or on a sandy seaside backyard or in the luxury of a clinic room, I was treated to treating a few great walks of life. Getting an insight into some of the efforts like the gathering and preparing of gunga (pandanus) for weaving, roots for dying, to hunting for maypal (crabs, oysters, turtle) and atha (bush foods, yams and waterlily bulbs), leaves you gobsmacked of the hard yakka that goes into daily life here. I was fortunate enough to treat one of the local elders who shared some guidance with me on the significance of connecting with the land and culture which is rich with meaning, like the spirals in a woven basket that relates to a life cycle, to that of how we grow. She tells how as the basket grows, so does life which keeps spiraling on along with the importance of looking after our land and its people, how it must be intertwined like the spirals, bound strong together, we become better together among this beautiful country and its communities.(is it safe to say this Pan took a leaf out of her Pandanus textbook ~ does that joke deserve to leave me out remote Chris?) I am grateful to have had the chance to take part in this project and to the Arnhem Lands peoples, for sharing the Yolu way, including the importance of the connections with the land and the people. Lastly, a thank you to the SOS Health Foundation who engage allied health care volunteers to sustainably improve the physical health of disadvantaged individuals and communities within urban and remote Australia (a special mention to all the hard working people who make the project come together including Shanta, Kristal and the Laynahapuy health care team). I come back enriched from this experience to strive to provide worthy treatments to all including to our patients and our surroundings.

24.01.2022 Last minute gift idea for Mother’s Day- Voucher for a Medi Pedi for Mum? Or a nice gift for anytime of the year, even for yourself! Did you know that we offer a service called a Medical Pedicure, or a Medi Pedi for short? This service is essentially a pedicure conducted by our university-qualified podiatrist in a sterile and clean environment. The podiatrist will trim and smooth the nails, removing any dead, hard skin around the nails and tidy the cuticles. They will then re...move any corns, callus or hard skin you may have around the feet and buff the heels. And finally massage in a moisturising emollient cream to the feet and an oil to the nails. We also offer a paraffin wax bath option after this service, where the feet are coated in warm wax and left to soften the skin for twenty minutes- it's a wonderfully relaxing experience- trust us! Once removed, the results are beautifully soft and smooth feet And what’s more, if you have private health insurance then you can claim under your health fund (conditions apply). Does this sound like the perfect gift for Mum for Mother’s day? We think so. If you're stuck for a last minute gift idea, or even a gift for anytime of the year. Call our Team at Entire Podiatry to book in for this service.

21.01.2022 DIABETES Diabetes is the epidemic of the 21st century and one of the greatest challenges confronting our health system. Diabetes Australia estimates that around 1.7 million Australians have diabetes. This includes all types of diagnosed diabetes (1.2 million known and registered) as well as silent, undiagnosed type 2 diabetes (up to 500,000 estimated). Diabetes is a complex disease that can affect many parts of your body, including your feet. In relation to the feet, diabete...s can cause two main problems: - Loss of sensation (nerve damage or peripheral neuropathy) - Restricted circulation and blood flow (peripheral vascular disease) If you have diabetes, even minor or ordinary foot problems can lead to serious complications. For this reason, it is recommended that you see a podiatrist at least annually, to help detect any changes early before they become a problem. At Entire Podiatry, we are able to conduct Doppler assessments and we also perform neurological assessments of the lower limb, to identify any problems such as reduced circulation and neuropathy as early as possible. The earlier we can identify these problems, the better opportunity we will have to prevent more serious complications from developing. See more

20.01.2022 PLANTAR FASCIITIS AND HEEL PAIN Do you suffer from heel or arch pain? Does the pain cause you to hobble around the house in the morning before the foot finally warms up? One of the most common causes of this pain is a very common condition called Plantar Fasciitis. Stretching out the arch and wearing supportive footwear can provide relief. A simple way to stretch the arch is by rolling the bottom of the foot over something round like a ball or a can. Using a frozen water... bottle can feel great too. Plantar fasciitis can develop and worsen by wearing footwear with not enough support. Switching to a more supportive shoe can help to relieve the pain and allow the injury to heal. Have a look on our website for more information https://entirepodiatry.com.au/informat//plantar-fasciitis/ and book an appointment with our Team at Entire Podiatry for a detailed assessment and treatment See more

13.01.2022 KIDS FEET Many might think that foot problems only occur as we get older, however, many of our patients are actually children. Some of the common reasons that children present to the clinic include: - Flat feet - Heel Pain (often diagnosed as Severs Disease) - Growing Pains... - Intoeing - Ingrown toenails - Warts - Sport Injuries - School shoe recommendations If you are at all concerned about your childrens feet, a podiatry assessment is recommended in order to rule out or diagnose any problems and provide appropriate advice or treatment. 13.01.2022 APRIL NO FALLS is an international campaign, aimed to raise awareness of falls prevention and help those at risk of falling to stay on their feet. The facts: - 1 in 3 older people have a fall each year. - 40% of older people have multiple falls and 30% of these require medical attention. - The number of hip fractures resulting from a fall in Australia is expected to double by 2026 and increase fourfold by 2051. ... Podiatrists can help you stay on your feet by: - Assessing and recommending safe footwear - Some shoes or slippers, if they do not have the correct features or are an improper fit, can lead to slips, trips or stumbles, which can result in a fall. - Addressing foot pain - As we get older, our feet can change in shape and lose some feeling and flexibility. This alters the way we walk and affects balance. Painful or swollen feet can also make it difficult to walk. Podiatrists can help reduce foot pain and get you walking more comfortably. - Falls Risk Assessment Podiatrists can perform a falls risk assessment to determine your likelihood of suffering a fall. Based on the result, recommendations can be made to help reduce your risk and/or referrals made to other specialists such as an occupational therapist. See more

09.01.2022 Foot Health for the Aging Population Did you know that the average person walks approximately the equivalent of 5 times around the Earths equator in a lifetime? It is no wonder then that as we get older our feet seem to get further away and we experience various foot ailments. Foot pain can lead to difficulties with walking, exercising and mobility. This can have an impact on our ability to get out and about and become involved in social activities which become ever more im...portant as we age. Pain and uncomfortable feet arent a natural part of growing old, or something to put up with. As podiatrists, we are here to help! A lot can be done to improve comfort, relieve pain and maintain mobility. You may be covered under the Enhanced Primary Care Program and be eligible for bulk billed podiatry visits. (Conditions apply) We only get one pair of feet so call 1800 4 ENTIRE to start your journey to happier and healthier feet. See more

08.01.2022 PAIN Many of our patients experience foot, leg, hip or back pain. To help determine why these injuries are occurring, podiatrists use the principles of human movement and biomechanics. This allows us to assess and optimise body function, specifically in relation to the foot and lower limb. At Entire Podiatry, to assist with assessing foot biomechanics, we use specialised equipment to conduct biomechanical gait analyses. In the ideal foot position, weight-bearing forces are ev...enly distributed, with the whole foot supported in a neutral position. However, many people have feet that either roll in (flat feet) or out (high arches). Podiatrists can create patient-tailored treatment plans to help you get back on your feet, pain-free. Visit the link to learn more about lower-limb pain and how podiatry can help. www.entirepodiatry.com.au/information/pain-locator/

07.01.2022 CHILDREN and SPORT Are your children complaining of aches and pains in their lower limbs? This could include pain in the heels, lower limbs, lower back or ingrown toenails. We know big-time athletes have professionals to take care of their feet- but what about our little athletes? Foot pain is a very common presentation for kids this time of the year, especially due to inactivity, given the unusual times we have encountered recently. As the sport seasons are starting agai...n, it may be time to check out how your young ones are travelling with their feet. One of the more common presentations we see is a condition called Sever’s Disease. This condition affects the back of the heels in both girls and boys between about the ages of 8-12. It can be a really painful condition and can affect your child’s willingness to participate in running and jumping sports. If your child is suffering from heel pain, or any other pain, its best to make an appointment with one of our podiatrists at Entire Podiatry for a detailed assessment and treatment. See more

06.01.2022 WARTS Warts are a common problem, with a prevalence rate of about 10% in children and young adults. A plantar wart is a wart caused by the human papilloma virus (HPV), which occurs on the sole or toes of the foot. A plantar wart may be painful when walking or standing, and when pressure is applied to the sides of the wart. Plantar warts can spread easily and may present as a cluster of warts. The hallmark signs of a plantar wart are tiny blood vessels at the base of the wart ...(which tend to look like small black dots in the centre of the wart), and a lack of normal skin lines (as in a fingerprint). Following assessment, your podiatrist may pare back the wart and apply solution in order to break down the warty tissues. Several treatments are usually required in order to eliminate the wart, particularly if there is more than one wart. Your podiatrist may use topical treatments or other treatments for use between consultations. Often a combination of treatment options works best to address warts. For stubborn warts, laser podiatry treatment is a highly effective treatment option, which is available at our Brisbane CBD and Robina Easy T clinics. For more information about warts and the GenesisPlus Laser System, head to our website https://entirepodiatry.com.au/laser-p/laser-podiatry-warts/

04.01.2022 ROUTINE FOOT CARE CORNS, CALLUSES & NAILS One of the most common reasons that patients present to the clinic is for general foot care. Whether you have difficulty cutting your own nails or have painful corns or calluses podiatrists can help! Corns and calluses are a thickening of the outer layer of skin, which occurs in response to friction or pressure on the foot. In some cases, these areas of thickened skin can be very painful to walk on. In most cases, corns and cal...luses are simple to treat and respond well to conservative care. Following assessment, treatment options may include: shaving away some of the thickened skin to relieve pain and pressure in the affected area, advice on appropriate footwear and at-home foot care and potentially modifying footwear or using silicon protectors/pads to relieve pressure on the affected area. See more

03.01.2022 INGROWN TOENAILS Ingrown toenails are a common patient complaint. An ingrown toenail occurs when the nail grows into the skin on one or both sides of the nail bed. It most commonly occurs in the big toe but can also affect smaller toes. They do not resolve on their own and if left untreated, can become increasingly painful and may even become infected. If you think you may have an ingrown toenail, it is best to see a podiatrist for treatment and advice on how to prevent it f...rom recurring. If you have an ingrown toenail that has come back a few times, you may need a surgical procedure to remove a portion of the nail. You dont need to see your doctor for this procedure; our podiatrists are qualified and equipped to perform ingrown toenail surgery using a local anaesthetic. The majority of people experience significant improvement following ingrown toenail surgery and are able to return to normal activities without further problems. www.entirepodiatry.com.au//skin-and-nail/ingrown-toenails/

03.01.2022 SPRING/SUMMER AND THONGS It’s heating up! And we understand that thongs are the perfect shoes for spring/summer. But these flat thongs are not so great for your feet. A flat thong lacks support and can contribute to pain in the feet, ankles, knees and lower back. At Entire Podiatry, we are proud to be providers of both Archies and Dr Comfort thongs. These thongs are fantastic. They look like any other thong but they have built-in arch support. Trust us, when you try these thongs this season, you’ll find it hard to go back to your flat, unsupportive pluggers! We stock these thongs at all of our clinic locations. Feel free to visit any of our clinics to try a pair on today.
