04.01.2022 Helpful information We have had a number of service calls lately due to blocked drains on ducted systems. Today we attended a site and found the drain pan blocked and the safety tray full of water. Ducted systems ( if installed correctly ) have a main condensate drain which is run to the gutter system and a safety drain. ... Generally the safety drain is installed in the eve of the roof to indicate to the owner that the main drain is blocked. This owner was unaware their AC drains were blocked and has been leaking water onto the condenser unit for several months. This has resulted in rust damage to the unit. Blocked drains can cause multiple problems including ceiling water damage and in some cases collapsed ceilings.
