20.01.2022 When talking to a loved one with hearing loss keep in mind they will often pick up more information when watching your lips and facial expressions. Try not to obscure the view of your face while talking. Eating or chewing gum, drinking, scratching your beard or resting your chin in your hands are all common culprits.

18.01.2022 In a LOUD room? Here's a tip: Position yourself where you can see the most people’s faces. When it’s too loud to use your hearing aids without damaging your ears (aka when the party bus decibel levels reach 105dB and above) place yourself in the spot that you can see the most people. From here, you can do your best to read lips and follow along in the conversation!

18.01.2022 Does this sound like anyone you know? It may be time to dob them in!

18.01.2022 Don’t forget: People with hearing loss often find it harder to hear when there is a lot of noise in the background. Distractions such as a TV or radio can also mean it’s harder for the person to concentrate on your conversation! Move away from distractions or to a quieter area before beginning your conversation

08.01.2022 When talking to someone with difficulty hearing, if they didn’t hear you the first time, it is likely they will continue to have difficulty if you just repeat yourself.. Instead, say it in a different way; For example, if they didn’t hear you say ‘Do you want milk with your tea?’, you could say ‘Black or white tea, which do you prefer?’

07.01.2022 Do Not Read: Childhood May Be Ruined Were you ever told that if you hold a Seashell up to your ear, you could hear the ocean? Well, scientists have disproven that idea, claiming that what you are actually hearing is ‘resonance’, or sound echos cause by other sounds in the environment. ... ‘If you were to hold up a shell to your ear in a soundproof room, you would hear nothing’. This also disproves the other common theory that you’re hearing the sound of your blood flow through blood vessels, as scientists have noted the sound doesn’t change with an increase in heart rate or blood pressure.
