23.01.2022 It's heartening to know that nature still has undiscovered wonders. This 'detached' coral reef the first to be discovered in more than 120 years is about 1.5 kilometres long, and rises from over 500 metres deep up to 40 metres below the surface. Wow!

22.01.2022 Public hearings continue this week for AGL's Environmental Effects Statement for the proposed gas project at Crib Point, Westernport Bay. 20.01.2022 Join us next Thursday eve for a webinar to hear from our clients - two brave young North Queensland teenagers - about their legal request for the Federal Environment Minister to revoke approval of Adani’s giant Carmichael coal mine. You'll also hear from their lawyer - Senior EJA Lawyer, Ariane Wilkinson and the incredible experts who offered their independent evidence to support the legal request. These young community leaders have provided the Minister with independent evi...dence from climate and economic experts that finds the proposed mine would increase global greenhouse gas emissions and have a significant impact on the Great Barrier Reef. Will you join us for a webinar on Thursday 5 November from 7-8pm AEDT to hear from these inspiring young women, their legal representative, and the climate and economic experts?

20.01.2022 For 3 long years, the Victorian EPA has been reviewing the licences for Latrobe Valley's coal-burning power stations. Meanwhile, each year, hundreds of people die from exposure to toxic air pollution from coal-burning power. The EPA must makes its long overdue decision now and strengthen licence conditions to protect community health.

20.01.2022 Two North Queensland teenagers have presented Federal Environment Minister, Sussan Ley, with critical new evidence and strong legal grounds to revoke approval of Adani’s Carmichael coal mine. They have done their homework when the federal government has not. Acting on their behalf, EJA lawyers obtained independent evidence from climate and economic experts. This new evidence clearly demonstrates that Adani’s mine will increase global warming and cause significant damage to ou...r Great Barrier Reef, contradicting reasoning for former Environment Minister Greg Hunt’s approval in 2015. Minister Ley now has strong legal grounds to use her discretionary powers under Section 145 of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act to revoke the mine’s environmental approval. So, Federal Environment Minister Sussan Ley, will you consider the expert evidence and revoke approval of Adani’s giant Carmichael coal mine? 15.01.2022 "Our government has continued to view First Nations people as uncivilised because it allows them to continue the belief of Terra Nullius and the foundation for a ‘legitimate’ claim to land. However, traditional ecological knowledge is science. First Nations people have been conducting experiments and testing hypotheses in their regions for tens of thousands of years." -- Marlikka Perdrisat

14.01.2022 Great news for the planet over the weekend. The election of Joe Biden as president of the United States could reduce global heating by about 0.1C. The incoming president will set a target to reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050, and plans to invest $1.7tn investment in a green recovery from the Covid crisis

11.01.2022 We have been blown away by the incredible support from over 1,000 generous supporters to defend possums against VicForests Appeal. Together, we have raised over $70,000 to fight this appeal against our landmark win in the federal court for our clients, Friends of Leadbeater’s Possum. VicForests has filed 31 grounds for appeal meaning this case is going to be big. Every dollar donated means our legal team can prepare and present the strongest arguments and best defence for our forests. This generous support will help fight for lasting protection for the Leadbeater’s Possum and Greater Glider and put a halt to further logging in vital areas of our magnificent native forests.

07.01.2022 Evidence that shows the enormous benefits to acting on climate change has long been public and it just keeps growing. New research has found that if climate change goes unchecked, it would cost Australia $3.4 trillion and almost 900,000 jobs by 2070, dwarfing the impact of the coronavirus recession and devastating key industries such as tourism and mining. The Morrison Government can no longer ignore the facts - it's time to act!

07.01.2022 It's unsurprising that another insurer has walked away from underwriting Adani's enormous Carmichael coal mine. The evidence is clear - new coal is a massive risk to our climate.
