24.01.2022 It’s great to see environmental awareness growing in our local community and Envirolec Solutions is very proud to be a part of this. Did you know: -EVs can save the average Australian driver over $1,500 per year on fuel costs.... -There are 19 EVs currently available in Australia with four more models expected in 2019. -Almost 2,300 battery and hybrid EVs were sold in Australia in 2017, a 67% increase from 2016. -Australia could eliminate 6% of our total greenhouse gas emissions if everyone drove a Battery EV (BEV) charged by renewable energy. -Vehicle pollution causes over 1,700 deaths each year in Australia. -There are almost 450 charging locations across Australia and many more are being built. Last week we installed another electric vehicle charger, for an excited Tesla owner, adding to these statistics. So, if you’re buying an electric vehicle, call Envirolec Solutions to install your charger!

19.01.2022 Are you a fleet manager? Interested in going ev? Or Wanting to know more about ev’s?... Charge Together Fleets is a program to assist fleet and sustainability managers transition to electric vehicles and future mobility models. Migrating Australia's fleets is the most important thing we can do as a country to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. The biggest gap is information and education for stakeholders who are looking to buy, own and operate. www.fleet.chargetogether.org

18.01.2022 This easy process can save you time and money when you lose power due to an electrical fault. An easy way to distinguish between a circuit breaker and a safety switch is a little button. On a safety switch you will always find a little button with ‘TEST’ written next to it. Circuit breakers don’t have this function and the reason is because you need to test a safety switch periodically to be certain it operates correctly in fault conditions. I receive many calls regarding a t...ripped safety switch and the explanation usually goes like this; The safety switch turned off last night. So, I tried turning it back on and it stayed on for a while, then turned off again. Some customers will stope here then call for help....others persist... I tried turning it on again but it kept turning off. Now it doesn’t turn on at all. Apart from running the risk of burning your house down or electrocuting yourself there’s an easy way to find an electrical fault or establish if you need to call an electrician. Most of the time a safety switch will have tripped due to a faulty appliance. So when this happens, simply unplug all appliances, including fridges and dishwashers etc, before trying to reset the safety switch. If the safety switch turns off again or won’t turn on at all, call an electrician. If it turns on and stays on, go through and plug in all your appliances again. Chances are, the safety switch will turn off again once you’ve plugged in the faulty appliance. Take that faulty appliance out of service and continue plugging the rest of them in. If you’re ever in doubt, you have an electrical fault or you would like to know more about electrical safety, get in touch by visiting www.envirolecsolutions.com.au

18.01.2022 5 reasons why you should be using SPDs (Surge Protection Device) in residential switchboards 1 Aussie homes have an estimated $15,000 worth of electronics u...nprotected against voltage surges. Traditional appliances like TVs and fridges are becoming smarter every day with lots of new sensitive electronic components inside them, which may be more at risk of surge damage. 2 Lots of home insurance policies don’t cover for all types of voltage surges. Getting an SPD installed could be cheaper for homeowners than even paying excess, in case of surge damage to their appliances. 3 Surge protected extension cords or powerboards only offer limited protection (and only for the devices connected to them). What about smart appliances such as washing machines, dryers and stoves that are normally plugged directly into standard powerpoints? 4 More people are working from home than ever before, storing critical business info on their desktop computers and laptops. SPDs can help prevent data loss from potential voltage spikes. 5 It’s simply not worth the risk. One SPD helps to keep all harmful surges out of your customer’s home, and can help give you (and them) peace of mind. More on our SPD product range: https://bit.ly/2YGoeFx

14.01.2022 There’s many families being taken advantage of by shonky operators. Mainly because you’re misguided to think you’re doing the right thing or getting good value. Only to realize it may not have been the best choice down the track. Kevin was in this unfortunate situation and needed help. Thankfully, I was able to offer a plan of attack that would get Kevin’s lights working again and it didn’t cost a fortune. If you can relate to Kevin or know someone who can or you are in the... perfect position where you haven’t been taken advantage of, need a lighting upgrade and need the right advice, call Daniel on 0414226326. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year!

12.01.2022 Envirolec Solutions is offering FREE smoke alarm checks in January 2020! Did you know.... -smoke alarms have an expiration date and need to be changed every 10 years... -MFB and CFA recommends installing smoke alarms in any bedroom where someone sleeps with their door closed -A working smoke alarm provides early warning of a fire and time for the occupants to escape, enact their home escape plan and call 000 (triple zero). -A small fire can grow to involve an entire room in 2-3 minutes. -When you are asleep you lose your sense of smell, and a working smoke alarm will alert you to the presence of smoke. -You are more likely to be injured or die in a house fire without a working smoke. -By law you are required to have a smoke alarm they are compulsory on every level of every home. -Since 1 August 1997, smoke alarms complying with Australian standards AS 3786 must be installed in all residential homes, including houses, units, flats and townhouses. -Residential homes constructed before 1st August 1997 need only stand-alone 9 volt battery powered smoke alarms installed. -Residential homes constructed after 1st August 1997 or have undergone a major renovation or extension, must have smoke alarms connected to 240 volt mains power. In addition a back-up battery must be installed in the smoke alarm. -Residential homes constructed after 1 May 2014, or homes that have undergone a major renovation or extension, where there is a requirement for more than one smoke alarm in the home, all smoke alarms fitted must be inter-connected (so that when any alarm activates, all smoke alarms will sound). Maintaining your smoke alarm ensures it’s in working order. MFB advises: Once a month: Test your smoke alarm battery by pressing and holding the test button until the alarm beeps three times. At least once a year: Dust, vacuum or gently wipe around cover of your smoke alarm. This helps to keep your smoke alarm free of particles to ensure smoke can easily reach the internal sensor. Every year: Replace your smoke alarm battery (only you have a 9 volt battery powered smoke alarm.) This advice is not relevant if you have a 10 year long life lithium battery smoke alarm. Every 10 years: Replace your smoke alarm with a 10 year long life lithium battery and tamper proof chamber smoke alarm. Please call Envirolec Solutions to discuss your smoke alarms and keep your family safe in 2020. 0414226326 www.envirolecsolutions.com.au

12.01.2022 When we buy a house or a car the first thing we buy with it is insurance. If you’re anything like me, you’d spend thousands of dollars a year on insurances. Insurance is the best way to safe guard ourselves from an event which may cost us our home or put us under tremendous financial stress. So, what if I asked you how you’re insuring your husband, wife, children....... What if there was something you could do, a one off, that could insure your families safety. Is your family’s lives worth more than $1000 considering, you’re already spending thousands a year insuring replaceable items? A safe and up to date electrical switchboard is essential and can save your home from burning down and help prevent electrocution. I’ve heard so many excuses over the years, we’ve lived here for years and nothings happened, we can’t afford it right now, we’re planning to sell, we’re about to renovate, we’ll do it then.... Do you really think an accident or a dangerous fault will wait for your renovation to start? Are prospective buyers wanting to buy an electrically safe house or one that needs money to upgrade? You pay your insurances every year. When was the last time you made a claim? Somehow, you find the money to pay insurances every year - Do you think it’s worth a one off payment to prevent fire and electrocution? Just because it hasn’t happened doesn’t mean it won’t. I urge you to check your electrical switchboard and make sure you and your family are protected. Even if you’re a tenant or in an office, you deserve to be in a safe environment. That’s all from me, have a great week! www.envirolecsolutions.com.au

03.01.2022 We recently received a few inquiries regarding information on how to reduce your energy bill. I would like to share some of our findings. Heating and cooling makes up the majority of your bill and this is always a great place to start. Keeping your AC units serviced and in good condition is essential for getting the best efficiency out of them.... Last week we found that one little old split system (2kw) was drawing a constant 10amps whilst in use (8hrs/day). That’s a 1/3 of the power used in an average home from just one unit in one room. There are many replacement options available in cases like this. In most cases, they are easy to replace and cut the usage by around half. An easy DIY solution is to turn your hot water thermostat down. Also, check if you’ve got the option of switching to ‘night’ or ‘off peak’. You may have a dinosaur for a hot water service and upgrading may be a great option, but if your thermostat is still working, try turning it down first and monitor your savings. There are so many little tips and tricks out there which you can do yourself. Just google it! For the bigger things or to have a chat about your energy efficiency, contact Daniel from Envirolec Solutions. www.envirolecsolutions.com.au
