25.01.2022 Are you aware of the Map of Bush Fire Prone Areas? Do you live within a designated bush fire prone area? Tomorrow, 1st June 2018 an updated Map of Bush Fire Prone Areas in WA will be available from the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) website www.dfes.wa.gov.au/bushfireproneareas. This new map will outline ‘new’ bush fire prone areas and those ‘continuing’ from the first edition of the Map. It is worth taking a look so that you are aware of whether your prope...rty lays within a bush fire prone area. If the area on the map in which you live is highlighted pink, then the Fire and Emergency Services Commissioner has designated this area as being ‘subject to, or likely to be subject, to bush fire attack’. The map is reviewed annually by the Office of Bush Fire Risk Management in conjunction with local governments. Blue hatched areas are newly designated bush fire prone areas. Additional planning and building requirements may apply to new proposals within bush fire prone areas. A further assessment of bushfire risk may also be required. These requirements ensure future developments in bush fire prone areas are better protected from bushfires.
