25.01.2022 The Environment Centre NT is having a stall at the Country Women's Association of the Northern Territory Inc. Christmas Craft Market. Come and purchase our Wildlife Book or our fundraising Christmas Cards - all proceeds go to ECNT

22.01.2022 The Environment Centre NT, together with Borroloola residents Jack Green and Josie Davey (represented by the Environmental Defenders Office) served court proceedings challenging the NT Government’s decision to slash the environmental bond for Glencore’s controversial McArthur River Mine by almost $120 million. This is not a decision we’ve made lightly, but we are taking this action in solidarity with Borroloola community, who have been fighting against environmental damage ...from this mine for many years. ECNT supporters have helped campaign strongly against the McArthur River Mine for decades. We are calling on you now to assist us as we join forces with Borroloola community. Funds raised will go towards our campaign to increase the security bond for McArthur River Mine and fix the shocking state of the Northern Territory’s mining laws, as well as paying for the costs associated with this litigation. 22.01.2022 Exciting! Our Katherine Water Info Day event this Saturday 20 February is fast approaching. Did you see our ad on the front page of the Katherine Times today?

22.01.2022 What happens to the McArthur River Mine impacts all Australians. If Glencore doesn’t put up enough money to clean up after themselves, the burden will fall squarely on taxpayers and on the McArthur River itself. We are trying to ensure that doesn’t happen. To learn more about the devastating history of McArthur River Mine, and efforts over many decades by Traditional Owners to stop damage caused by it, read the timeline on our website: https://www.ecnt.org.au/mcarthur_river_mine_timeline

20.01.2022 Here is inspirational Gurdanji leader Mr Harry Lansen (dec), who - together with other traditional owners represented by the Northern Land Council - fought both the NT and Commonwealth Governments and McArthur River Mine for 3 years to stop the diversion of the McArthur River for the open cut mine. He won both cases, but Clare Martin’s Labor Government intervened to overrule the Supreme Court decision 3 days after it was made. Federal Labor’s Peter Garrett gave the mine the f...inal stamp of approval after Mr Lansen and other TOs won in the Federal Court on appeal. It is a betrayal still felt in Borroloola today. Mr Lansen was fighting from the late 1970s too when the mining company (then Mt Isa Mines) put a pipe through a sacred site that is still threatened today. Today, we are standing with Jack Green and Josie Davey Green as they fight against further environmental damage at the mine following Minister Manison’s decision to slash the security bond. NT Labor, it’s time to fix the mess you have made. 12.01.2022 Congratulations City of Darwin Council in accepting the Draft Climate Emergency Strategy last night. We look forward to engaging and reviewing this strategy in the coming weeks. You can have a read of the draft Strategy here and provide feedback directly to City of Darwin. https://engage.darwin.nt.gov.au/climate

11.01.2022 It's time to get real. With searing hot conditions across the Top End, uncertain rain fall and increasingly acute water issues for communities, isn't it time to ask the large-scale cotton and gas industries to get real? Great message from Sam in the Katherine Times

08.01.2022 It’s #AustralianPollinatorWeek and to learn more about these fascinating creatures, last night we had lots of fun with Barry Conde who gave a talk and demonstration on native bees, the basics to get you started, the different types in Darwin, which plants they like to forage, how to get a beehive going, plus some troubleshooting. Thanks Barry for sharing your knowledge! Plus we got to taste some honey #coolmob #nativebees #cityofdarwin #environmentcentrent #foragingbees #permaculture #gardeningaustralia #darwin #ntaustralia #abcdarwin

07.01.2022 What does the billionaire ownership of so many properties mean for Territorians? What does it mean for our water?

07.01.2022 'Gas and cotton worry', 'The big water grab'. The community has real concerns for safe drinking water, plus all the jobs and lives that depend on the health of our rivers. We can't let irrigated cotton wreck the Katherine region. Via Katherine Times letters.

04.01.2022 There are still tickets available for this important and informative event - 5pm at Darwin Community Arts
