25.01.2022 A quick shot from yesterdays wedding at Breakfree Aanuka Resort.

24.01.2022 This will be me when one of my kids get married, I'll try and pass it off as hay fever or something in my eye but really I'm a bit (a lot) of a softy when it comes to these kind of things. Good wedding photography is not about "spraying and praying" hoping to snag a good shot, it is about reading what is going, anticipating moments and then being able to capture the moment because these stories dont just tell themselves - someone has to be able to tell it.

21.01.2022 Not a traditional bride and groom portrait, but it IS genuine and spontaneous love. The plan was for the first dance to be in the function room but the lawn at Aanuka is beautiful so I suggested moving it and the cake cutting outside. These are the moments I always look for because they are spontaneous and unposed.

I have recently been talking with the AIPP (Australian Institute of Professional Photography) about trying to find a way to contribute towards recovery for those affected by the Australian Bushfires emergency. We dont have Celeste Barber clout BUT we have organised some major industry sponsors and photographers to shoot family portrait photographs for those people who have lost theirs in the fires. Obviously we cant bring back things that have been... destroyed but we can start to rebuild. Plans, product and other fine points are still being worked on but over 100 AIPP photographers have signed up today alone to help. 10.01.2022 One of the things I hear most when meeting with wedding clients is I like candid photos, I’m not so keen on posing, posing can feel awkward and unnatural but I have a few techniques I use to allow couples to focus on each other rather than worrying about posing - if it isn’t a pose then it isn’t posing - easy. 05.01.2022 Here is another photo of Ash from the recent shootout I attended. A couple of my good mates shoot outstanding fashion photography and I love (envy) their work but I really like to show natural or unguarded moments. I've been thinking about why I like to shoot this way and I have finally worked out a way of expressing it succinctly. You can go to Madam Tussauds and see a perfect anatomical replica of the worlds most beautiful people - identical in every way to the real thing but all lacking the spark of life that lights us up. No matter how beautiful you think you are show your spark and let other people see your beauty :-)

01.01.2022 This is a shot from a recent wedding, the reflection of the ceremony location was good but it required a little flash photography magic from inside to bring it up to match the light outside. I really like these moments because they tell stories and it is nice to be able to tease them out.
