20.01.2022 Caller Talitha saw this young swan on the steps at Emerald Lakes (Gold Coast) holding up its left foot. Every time the bird tried to put that foot down it would... quickly pull it back up again Standing on one leg is common behaviour for a swan but then Talitha spotted fishing line dangling from the foot and on closer inspection, a hook. She did everything right. Stepping back, she kept the bird in sight, then phoned Wild Bird Rescues immediately. I asked her to wait with the swan and keep curious people away for the twenty minutes it would take me to get there. Catching any wild bird can be hard enough but the difficulty skyrockets ten-fold or more if a rescuer has to go searching for it. Luckily for this little girl the hooking was minor and I was able to treat and release her quickly. Lucky too that Talitha turned out to be pretty darn good on the camera! If you see an injured bird, keep it in sight while Googling bird rescue in your area, then call for help immediately. See more

07.01.2022 Previously I only associated lymph drainage massage with pain, therapists in the past seemed to think they had to exsanguinate my limbs to achieve any result, n...ot a pleasant experience. Cheryl, however, is an expert in this field and I experienced hour hovering in that blissful space between sleep and wakefulness. Cheryl warned me about being close to the toilet as my body expelled the fluid, she was right! I was amazed with how such a light touch could do what it did. I spend a lot of time on my feet so am planning weekly treatment and am soon moving onto the electronic system Cheryl employs. I can not recommend Cheryl enough, she is a beautiful soul and a gifted healer. See more
07.01.2022 Paradise Point history The suburb of Paradise Point is located on a peninsula bounded by Coombabah Creek, Coomera River and the northern Broadwater. The suburb ...also encompasses Ephraim and Sovereign Islands. Image below Aerial view of Paradise Point circa 1970 facing north. Aerial view over Paradise Point, Queensland circa 1970 A. L. Lambert, photographer. Prior to its subdivision and development, the area was a quiet fishing spot that could be reached by a track that went through swampy land, studded with eucalypts. Following World War II, approximately 200 hectares of the land which eventually became Paradise Point was owned by Ralph Faulkinder who had acquired it for 600 from his deferred pay following the war. By the early 1950s, Faulkinder decided to subdivide part of his property. Jim Handford surveyed the land and Jack Kogler of Labrador was the selling agent for the new residential estate. The venture was managed by Willmore & Randell, who were experienced developers, with Mr Milton Grant acting as the local manager. Faulkinder eventually sold the land to Jays, a company owned by Handford and Kolger. In 1962, they were forced to sell some of the land but went on to develop the rest together until, in 1977 Handford acquired full control of the company. Over the years, Hansford owned either independently or in partnership significant areas of land in Paradise Point including Sovereign, Andys and Griffin Islands and his home at the top of the point on 10.8 hectares of land, where he had a private airfield and golf course. http://www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au//paradise-point-history-43
