25.01.2022 In a world where you can be like anyone... be like @lilyrileycoach. She is the epitome of EPIC’s Values Strength Courage... Resilience Only in March this year she was laying in a hospital bed, today she was doubling 190kgs squats like it was nothing. Be like Lily. #EPIC

23.01.2022 #4 - The Grind Suzie Maude is one of the calmest competitors, she doesn’t get fired up, she doesn’t need a back slap, I don’t even think she’s ever used nose torque. Though, every time she walks out onto the platform her intentions are set and she rarely rarely misses.... This 262.5kgs/577.5lbs squat was done at the GPC meet in March for the ProRaw guys. If a butterfly had landed on one side she would have missed it. This was one of the longest grinds I’ve witnessed. If you know Suzie you know how bad ass this was! #EPIC Athlete @shrinking_suzie

17.01.2022 By the time you’re walking out on the platform, your only thought should be to EXECUTE. If you’re still thinking about where your hands should be on the bar or where your feet should be, then it’s me who’s failed you to set you up with habits for long term success. Technique and cues should be ingrained in your system that it’s second nature, you shouldn’t have to over think. That way you can turn it up to 10 and do your job.... #EPIC See more

16.01.2022 It was f**king great to get back on the platform yesterday and compete alongside some absolute animals. This 272.5kgs/600lbs is my favourite lift of the day, it’s not my best ever but it f**king shows how far I’ve come in 12 months post being in and out of hospital in 2019. I pulled a very hard 240kgs in December 2019 at CAPO Deadlift comp, and 250kgs back in Feb at Simm City Classic. But to be in a position to take this as a third yesterday was f**king sweet.... As Kaine so well put There were some very defining points today that could have derailed you and tbh probably would have in a past life but as a true strength of character you held it together came back and executed like a true professional. Honestly yesterday was the first time I’ve felt deserving to wear The EPIC soft suit that so many legends of this sport wear. Massive congratulations to Bree, Bryce and Heff for all dominating there space and taking podiums. I’ll save my thank you’s for this weeks episode of Heading Into Battle - but can’t thank Gawain enough for instilling some strong beliefs in me this prep. And to Lily, Kaine and Pagan for the hype on the day. #EPIC #WeAreEPIC

16.01.2022 Challenge is the precursor to growth. We don’t grow as an athlete or a person if we aren’t challenged. I challenged Jade to squat her previous 1RM in sleeves as opposed to wraps. It pushed her to develop better habits in squatting, focusing on little things and forcing more intent out of the hole.... Very pleased to boast she beat her previous best wrapped squat by 2.5kgs like a mother f**king boss! #TeamEPIC #EPIC Athlete @__jade_williams @neilj.powerpix

16.01.2022 Flick the switch and go. @neilj.powerpix capturing a brilliant moment where I’m literally telling the bar. It’s you vs me, let’s go! The bar being the you in the above equation is my competition, it’s the version of myself I fear if I miss the lift.... It’s a competition against myself, and I do my best work when my back is against the wall. #EPIC @neilj.powerpix

15.01.2022 #2 - The Athlete Brock Ridsdale benched 200kgs/440lbs in the GPC competition earlier this year when ProRaw got cancelled. This is a huge achievement for a lifter in any weight class, Brock did it at 109kgs BW. I use Brock as an example to a lot of novice lifters coming through as he, in my biased opinion, is the epitome of what a powerlifter should be... driven, jacked, has the athlete mindset and he’s always having a good time.... I first started coaching Brock in 2016 and in our first competition together he benched 155kgs, since then we’ve seen him rise through ranks each year and chip away until he earned his invite to ProRaw. What I believe makes Brock so special, apart from those incredible baby blues, is his devotion to the little things. Prehab, nutrition (for the most part), recovery and sleep is prioritised. He works 10hr+ days on a job site then comes in and still performs. All the little things he never leaves to chance and it’s why he gets the results he does. Can’t wait for a huge 2021 B-rock! #EPIC Athlete @piggy_smalls_00

14.01.2022 GPC Sunshine Coast Classic Great day out for #TeamEPIC Jade Williams 8/9 S: 145kgs (20kgs PR)... B: 77.5kgs (10kgs PR) D: 145kgs (7.5kgs PR) T: 367.5kgs (37.5kgs PR) Neil Jose 9/9 S: 167.5kgs B: 125kgs D: 175kgs T: 467.5kgs Couldn’t be prouder! Unreal day at the Sunny Coast #EPIC

14.01.2022 The hardest concept to get your head around in this sport is that it is an amateur sport that requires a professional athlete mindset If you truly wish to push the limit of your potential and achieve something that 99.9% of the worlds population will never do, you have to be willing to execute on the small things day in day out that the 99.9% would never do. Consistently and repeatedly until it’s within your nature and you don’t know any other option.... #EPIC @neilj.powerpix See more

13.01.2022 I always encourage athletes/lifters who weren’t given the opportunity to learn how to squat and thrown in knee wraps, to strip it right back and rebuild without the external stability provided by the knee wraps. I challenged Ann to squat her previous wrapped max bare knees, she actually did it for a triple... three times! Taking away the knee wraps forces you to learn more about how YOU squat, forces you to learn how to drive out of the bottom and really understand your body ...in space. Ann you’re a Bare Knee Bandit 105kgs 3x3 #EPIC

12.01.2022 217.5kgs for three doubles. We on son, let’s go! Again not possible without the best crew around. #EPIC

11.01.2022 2021. Challenge. Belief. Intent. Let’s go. @neilj.powerpix #EPIC

11.01.2022 Shea crushing a very easy double at 170kgs in her final heavy session leading into GPC Push/Pull. When we first started working together I stripped her deadlift right back to 70kgs pauses to work on positioning. Now here we are on track for a huge PR. #Queen... #EPIC See more

10.01.2022 Two years ago today the big man himself though he was 6 feet off the ground in this jump after totalling the magic 1000kgs. Big Dogs 3 saw Luke Poli become the 8th man in Australia to total the tonne with a nice little breakdown of Squat 410kgs/902lbs Bench 250kgs/550lbs... Deadlift 340kgs/748lbs Total 1000kgs/2200lbs Best part is, we all know he isn’t done yet. #EPIC

09.01.2022 Judging by @brooookef_ face in the background, I clearly made the greatest joke of 2020. #EPIC @neilj.powerpix

08.01.2022 #3 - Resilience 12 months ago I don’t think Shea knew she’d be where she is now. When I first took her on I knew she was strong, but her technique wouldn’t allow her to express her true strength if she kept lifting the way she was.... I stripped it right back, I’m talking from pulling 180kgs looking like the Sydney Harbour Bridge to 40kgs Pulse Deadlifts for better engagement. At times it would have been frustrating especially when you throw in some very personal issues, but she stuck with it, making sure every session was completed to the highest quality. Fast forward to GPC Push/Pull 2020, she benched a PR and then pulled an 187.5kgs for a very easy PR with plenty more in the tank, plus a technique that would allow her to do that. Shea has earned her spot at number 3 via the grit and determination to not stop. #EPIC Athlete @shea_baker_pl @neilj.powerpix @you.are.breathtaking_

07.01.2022 Surround yourself with individuals who you aspire to be, people ahead of you. You will find your own standards and performance increases. #EPIC

05.01.2022 #1 - Strength Strength isn’t just physical, though this lift is 210kgs/462lbs at 75kgs BW, that does show a lot of physical strength. Mental strength to me has always been more important than physical strength. Mental strength to me is resilience, courage and that, in our sport, turns into physical strength.... By now we all know Lily’s story, she had a year that I wouldn’t wish upon my worst enemy. But as we know she came back, more determined and resilient than ever. She can even now be thankful for what she experienced, something most people can’t do after going through that traumatic. So this lift rightly earns number 1 spot. I’ve been there when some of the biggest squats in the world have taken place, but when I am asked what moment I am proud of most in my life as a coach, it’s this. Lily Riley - 210kgs #EPIC

04.01.2022 The Most Awkward Photo EVER!!!! Battle In Valhalla 2020 Very very proud of each EPIC athlete that took to the platform today and absolute crushed it. Bree Wolf - 2nd Place 67’s...
