24.01.2022 Weekly Warrior If you want to be featured as a weekly warrior, please share your story in the comments below or send us a DM. Weekly Warrior: Gerard Wilkie, ... 'I was soon diagnosed after my first seizure which occurred at a school athletics carnival in 2012. At the time I knew nothing about epilepsy however, that drastically changed. When I was completing high school (2012-2016) there was a massive period of time where I lived in self-doubt. I believed I did not have epilepsy, or I wished for it to magically go away. Now studying at QUT, my self-doubt has decreased, my confidence and determination has increased. I have found ways of coping with my epilepsy and I have a great support system of friends, family, co-workers and specialists, who I can rely on and who believe in me.' Another true example of a Weekly Warrior.

22.01.2022 Our hard work paid off! TikTok have created a new feature, to avoid seizures. The new feature allows viewers the option to 'skip all' photosensitive content. No doubt you saw Epilepsy Action Australia, across the News back in April, and writing to TikTok to make changes. Well it worked!! They personally wrote to Carol Ireland to inform her. Let's hope the other platforms follow suit. https://au.news.yahoo.com/tiktok-feature-allows-users-avoid

15.01.2022 If you want to be featured in our WEEKLY WARRIOR share your story in the comments below or DM us. Hi my name is Kristy Hart I got diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 13 years old. I was watching tv at my Aunties house at the time of my ever first seizure. My aunty did not know what was going on and called the ambulance pretty sure I had to get a lot of tests done. When I was in year 11 and 12 I was in hospital nearly everyday and that was because of stress due to doing my HSC. I had a lot of regular specialist appointments through out my life to make sure I am on the right medications etc. I am now 31 years of age I was 2 years seizure free till I ended up having a seizure about three months ago and was hospitalized because it was a really bad seizure I got told when I woke up in hospital.

15.01.2022 [To become a #WeeklyWarrior share your story & a photo in the comments below!] FROM MELISSA I was diagnosed with Grand Mal Tonic Clonic Epilepsy after having a seizure at the end of my Crazy Clints shift 19 years ago when I was 15. I struggled to stay seizure free until I fell pregnant with my first daughter at 22. Stayed mostly seizure free for the next decade and birthed another 2 daughters and got married last November in Hamilton Island. Just over a year ago was my la...st seizure. Here's hoping that's the last one... EVER. I've had a few close calls but then I made the choice to pay attention to my triggers and my feelings right before a seizure and I've been able to keep myself safe. If I didn't make the choice to pay attention to my body after my last near-death experience at 21, I wouldn't be here today. To everyone with Epilepsy, don't be embarrassed or ashamed of your diagnosis, embrace it and help spread awareness. Most importantly, Seize the day
