Our topic is "Talking to our family members about dying and death - how can we meet their fear and unwillingness to have such conversations". This session will be co-facilitated by Kate Raffin from Hearttalkmatters (https://hearttalkmatters.com/), who will help us to explore this topic through some practical excercises. Please arrive 9:45 am, as we would love to start on time.
21.01.2022 "Do not be indifferent" said Marian Turski at this speech in January 2020. Most tragedies, on families, communities or nations levels, originate in small, almost insignificant actions which are easy to ingore. Watch this 20 minute YouTube to learn how a simple note "Jews cannot sit on this bench" led the world to one of the biggest planned and accepted tragedy of humanity!... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaPF_g0jHxk Imagine that situation, which is so close to your heart, has been transformed and healed only because you we not indifferent, you spoke up and acted to initiate the necessary change that could even stop the future tragedy and trauma from arising. Please share the topics that are close to your heart you wish to made difference to.
19.01.2022 In Europe and many countries in the world, families and friends gather in November to celebrate and share the memories of their loved ones. In some cultures people visit the places of burials, while in others long festival activities are hold. This year on the 1 November community members are invited to gather at the Park at Old Witta School Hall - see the flyer for more details - to acknowledge and share the memories of their ancestors and loved ones. During special ceremo...ny everyone will have an opportunity to share the name of their loved ones with all community members. We will decorate a Memory Tree with photos and drawings, wishes and poems, as well as flowers and plants. We will celebrate and honour those whose lives were part our lives. We will grow through shared love and reverence. We hope this ceremony will be the first of many to acknowledge grief and connection with those who have passed. It will be led by Agnieszka Swiatlowska, Jacinta Foale and Lysanne de Graaf, who are passionate about the community and exploring new ways of honouring the live of all its members, passed and present. Come by yourself, with a family or a friend, but please join us!
