24.01.2022 Ulana National Pride
21.01.2022 Last winter we didnt get much rainfall here, so I have had to turn off our retic and hand water all nursery plants and trees since December, as we only have a large well. We aim to get a bore put in next month Anyway, so to save on water I have given each potted Epiphyllum a good dollop of cow manure mixed witha little dynamic lifter and a good watering. This should make them happy for a while and put my mind at ease as we still have a few months ahead to go before we get the first lot of good rainfalls.
19.01.2022 Vanilla Sunset. I have limited stock but have reduced it down to $35. If you like this cultivar dont delay as it will be out of stock again very soon.
19.01.2022 Hi, To all customers that have either placed an order or have /havent paid for their orders after the 14th Nov, will be placed on hold until I get back from overseas, which will be early Dec. This is mentioned on my website News Feed, but not everyone reads it Here are a few images I took yesterday of an unusual UK Epi, maybe virused? T I bought this plant from Bunnings a couple of years ago as "Princess Linda" well it defs not PL even the shape form is not PL, (I do have a couple of other Princess Lindas . So now it seems I have a NOID The foliage seems healthy too, so will keep it for now away from my others and think about it? It always pays to see your plant in bloom before you sell any as this is a perfect example of what can happen.
19.01.2022 By the end of June, 2020 I will have made available most of my Epiphyllums that are currently "Out of Stock" on my website: Rainbow Daylilies www.rainbowdaylilies.com From the start of June, I will be going through my whole epiphyllum nursery and rearranging them all in alphabetical order from scratch, as I have a few pots of the same cultivars due to making cuttings over the past few years, that are placed elsewhere. We also had some bad winds/storms come through there a... couple of weeks ago, that have misplaced a few pots which need tidying up. This month, Ma,y I have been concentrating on all my Tall Bearded Irises, weeding and orders. So next month I will be concentrating and sorting out all my Epiphyllums, more weeds and orders. Thanks for your patience, as I know a lot of you are waiting on certain cultivars. Kindest Regards Shelli Green See more

17.01.2022 Hi All Epicacti Lovers... I thought to write a litttle blog on compact basket Epicacti cultivars. A few weeks ago I got asked by one of my customers on "what Epiphyllums are great basket performers?" So I went through all my cultivars and came up with around 50 that stand out to me as great basket performers. ... A few of these may start off with upright rigid new growth but cascade as they mature. The others grow similar to German Empress where they cascade from start - all neat, tidy, cascading basket cultivars. Most of these are from NZ hybridiser, Carol Rogerson, whom specialized in creating prolific compact coffee table cultivars and prolific compact hanging basket cultivars. There are probably a dozen or so others in my collection that I have overlooked but will keep an eye out over the next several months while some are still maturing in growth and add these to my list. Here are the prolific, compact, cascading Epiphyllums that I find perform well in baskets: Acapulco Sunset Agatha (when mature) Anguliger Fishbone Cactus Ballet Angel Bright Spark Cabrillo Candy Crush Chiapora Nayada Cryptocereus Rik Rak (when mature) Djonnaise (when mature) Elven Princess Flash of Passion German Empress Gold Charm Golden Opportunity Heritage Rose Hot Chick In Love Jewel of Happiness Jovial Kiwi Honey Bright (when Mature) Kiwi Honey Child, (when mature) Kiwi Honey Gem Kiwi Honey Love Kiwi Oscar Winner (when matured) Lassenbys Hybrid Lingering Kiss Love Shack Magic Rosette Mary K Meadow Rose News Flash Nikola Marie Heritage Rose Macranthus - Disocactus Magical Mango Marie Joyce Nikola Marie Outrageous Fortune Peach Butterfly Pink Snowflake Pink Sprite Princess Betty Princess Linda Quartz Movement Raspberry Swirl Romantic Night Stephannie Miranda Sugar Plum Fairy Sunny Honey Tropical Fiesta Twilight Dancer Vanilla Dream Whispers of Spring Zorina

13.01.2022 I have just reduced prices on some of my Epis on my website. Some are the "Kiwi" imports others older hybrids and NZ imports. Customers that have existing orders with any of those that I have have been reduced have been notified and credited or added another plant to the value of credit. Regards Shelli
09.01.2022 On left Epiphyllum "Ulana Humdinger" which is probably one of the closest non virused epi looking blooms you can get, on right a Noid virused epi which I will keep away from the others and grow on for now as it produces many blooms and looks healthy enough
06.01.2022 Hello All Epiphyllum Lovers, Ild like to briefly introduce myself to you and answer a question about "How long does it take for an Epi to flower?" My name is Shelli from the online nursery "Rainbow Daylilies", Dunsborough, WA, I started off with my Epi collection with a few from a friend whom didnt want them anymore, she got hers originally from the Dutch Windmill, Perth whom closed down many years ago. I am a collector, hybridiser and seller of a few hundred cultivars. ... My online website is: Rainbow Daylilies: www.rainbowdaylilies.com Just recently I have been asked by a few members "how long does it take for a cutting to produce a bloom/blooms?" If the cutting is a mature cutting ( more than a year old, as you should not recieve fresh, young cuttings less than a year old) you can have it in flower within 6 months as I have had some NZ hybrids come into bloom during their time in quarantine, so it depends on the cutting and the cultivar. I have imported many NZ cultivars that are very prolific where several are rebloomers, blooming in the winter or Autumn. These bloom every year with an abundance of blooms. These are the hybrids I am more interested in and use in my hybridising programme. The cultivars I got from NZ are very prolific! Some of the older cultivars that have been around for years, I have found may only bloom every other year and only displaying a few blooms over the season. So to answer this question from a prolific cultivar, you can expect your first bloom in about 1 year but by the 2nd year youshould have an established small plant with several blooms, by 3rd year an good size plant with plenty of growth and abundance of blooms.( if you dont disturb the plant and break off cuttings). I have sent cuttings out with blooms already on these, but these will fall off due to the cutting being under stress with its new growing conditions and getting started etc. Just another reminder please dont be impatient on potting up your new cuttings when you recieve it as these have to heal at base before you do. I send to all states except TAS and NT . Here are some of the NZ cultivars exclusive to my nursery. The first few images is of Twilight Dancer, now that first image of it is of one of the full plants where it trails down about 4 foot long and the blooms are huge. The colours are hard to capture with a camera as these are so much prettier in the flesh. I have a new mobile phone so hoping I can capture their truer beauty this season? The last image is of "Heaven Sent" (not a NZ import) but a must in everyones collection. Enjoy See more
