25.01.2022 The forecast for this Saturday looks good so we should be all set to go. Big program set before Region Track & Field at Keilor so we will require as much support as possible to assure the smooth running of the program. Set up; We will use 6 lanes in the back straight for the 60m sprint for the U6 & U7 age groups.... Walks & 300m run will be in lanes 1 and 2 Lanes 3 10 for the Hurdle events in the front straight. Athletes must wear their Subway name tag to compete. Competition start time is 8.30am. 4 Walk Judges minimum will be required to support. Many thanks to the Chiefs, Starters, Team Managers, Recorders, On Track helpers & Parents for supporting the program for this season, it’s been much appreciated. Reminder: We will be running our Relayathon on the 22nd of February so if anyone would like to suggest any fundraising ideas for this event please advise either Lisa, Sammy, Darlene or myself so we can get this in place by the 22nd of Feb competition to help raise funds for the RCH. For our U8 Parents & athletes; it has come to my attention that there has been some concern over the weight used in the U8 age group regarding Discus. At Whittlesea City we use the 350g Discus for this event and always have. It is recommended by LAVIC that the weight be no higher than 500g, this does not mean that we need to use a 500g Discus for this event. We would rather the athletes be able to hold the discus and work on their technique as the 350g discus is significantly smaller and easier to hold. Other Centres may use a 500g Discus and this may also happen at Open Day Competitions, however again we use a 350g Discus to compete with at our weekly competitions at our Centre. Records will only be counted if the correct weight Discus (350g) has been used for this event for the U8 athletes. We are aware that Diamond Valley use the 500g Discus and we accidently used the 500g Discus on the 7th of December 2019. Unfortunately this happened but please keep in mind that everyone is a volunteer and mistakes happen from time to time as does a rake going through the sand pit or a record not being recorded. Please support our volunteers and not abuse them as they are doing their very best! If anyone has anything further they would like to discuss on this matter, please come and see me with your Club Team Manager at the Centre Table. Please distribute this program attached to all clubs. Kind regards, Craig

23.01.2022 A very big warm welcome to all our new and returning members. Competition starts tomorrow at 8.30am, be sure to get there early to sort out uniforms, rego tags ...etc. For new members, here are a few tips: 1. Bring a chair to sit on - although there are concrete steps, it’s best to bring a chair as there will be some waiting time between events. 2. Bring sun cream and a hat - the weather will warm up. 3. Bring snacks and water, the canteen will also be open. 4. Be ready to help out at your child’s event. All events need parent help to make them run, it’s not hard for example raking the sand or retrieving the discus. 5. Have fun and encourage the kids to try their very best!!!

23.01.2022 Here is the program for tomorrow’s competition. Fingers crossed the weather gods are kind to us tomorrow, we will keep you updated and make a decision 30 minutes before competition. At this stage completion is on.

09.01.2022 IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR TOMORROW NIGHTS COMP Hi Everyone, ... This Friday nights forecast is set for extreme temperatures. Therefore I have revised the program for this Friday nights competition due to these conditions; Program will start at 7pm instead of 6pm. U7 U16 Age groups will compete in a 3 event program instead of 4 events previously listed. Program is expected to finish by no later than 9pm. 400m event will be made up in the remaining weeks to come. If a cool change is expected we may resort to the previous program, however this is not forecast at present. If temperatures are still at extreme levels prior to program commencing, for children & parents safety we may be cancelling the program. We will advise this information by 5.30pm to let everyone know if we will be cancelling. We will endeavour to run the program and give every possible chance that this still may occur. Thank you for your understanding on this matter. Also please be aware Tony, Shelby and Myself will not be at comp on Friday, can clubs put out a message for helpers to set up and pack up with Joe. Also can clubs advise their athletes that those who are competing in the State Combined Events Carnival it is not necessary to compete as the centre only scores the athletes best 13 weeks out of the 17 week comp, they will not miss centre comp points.
