21.01.2022 'Mighty oaks from little acorns grow' is a common expression, but was not from B.-P. He did however instill a little germ of an idea and inspiration in each of us to form this great movement. And look at our mighty oaks. Keep growing.

18.01.2022 LOSS OF A TEAM MEMBER. :-( It is with sad news the long and well serving Grey Owl activity shelter (b. 1974) has been recently destroyed by fire (the cause is... still being investigated). Named after 1930s+ wood badge course quartermaster and Cleveland scout leader, Thomas Gloster, the partially-open shelter housed some of the various teaching tools used by the State's Environment Education Team. However there is still great seating on the old kauri pines at the front of the Biolab (1976). Feel free to post some of your memories with the Grey Owl shelter. Thanks Grey Owl for your service. The Environment team -- we keep putting the 'outing' in Scouting!

15.01.2022 ANZAC Day and Eprapah? Eprapah was the state centre for scouter training from April 1928 to the mid-1950s. Today it is an active SCENES site -- a Scouting centre of excellence in nature. And this has several criteria that must be met. AND it was all possible because of the Bob Monteith Memorial Fund which purchased and preserved this site for others. Robert Henry Monteith left for The Great War aged 23 in May 1915. He went first to Gallipoli with the Army Service Corp...s. In March 1916 he was with the 26th Battalion and was mentioned in despatched for his leadership. And on 02 September 1918, as a lieutenant, he was killed in action at Mont Saint Quentin. To Bob, and the Scouts and Scouters who served and defended, we remember. You did your duty and kept your promise. https://www.scout.org/scenes https://www.awm.gov.au/people/rolls/R1647736/

06.01.2022 DON'T. JUST DON'T. Tomorrow (Saturday) is World Earth Hour, where you are invited to switch off unnecessary lights and electricity for one hour. Don't. Just don't do it tomorrow. Do it every day. Not only is it the right thing environmentally and globally, but think what you can do with the money you save throughout the year. Be the example you want others to be. https://earthhour.org.au/about/
