25.01.2022 Did you know that children have special rights? They include the right to play, the right for children to have a say in things that affect them, the right to a... safe home environment, education and health care plus many more. More than 40 children’s rights are protected in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). Today is World Children’s Day, the anniversary of the CRC, when we celebrate children and promote their rights. In 2020 this is particularly important, as COVID-19 has severely affected children, and many of their rights protected in the CRC. 11.01.2022 BREAKING: The Victorian Parliament has just passed a life-saving bill to outlaw LGBTQ+ conversion practices and open pathways for education, investigation and h...ealing for survivors. Victorians born with intersex variations will also have new anti-discrimination protections. The final vote was 27 ayes, 9 noes. This incredible win affirming the dignity of LGBTIQ+ people comes after years of advocacy, especially by survivors who were brave enough to share their stories. Thank you to the thousands of YOU who stood with survivors and contacted Victorian MPs calling on them to do the right thing. Together, we did it! This law won’t undo the pain and trauma inflicted on so many in the past, but it will protect countless people from having to endure the same pain and harm going forward. We know that LGBTQ+ people are whole and valid, just as they are. Now, Victorian law clearly affirms that too.

11.01.2022 Yesterday Tasmania's oldest institutions apologised to the state's Aboriginal community for practices, of nearly 200 years, that were morally wrong. "Today we find the courage to take responsibility for the past, today we own our actions and culture that have caused such pain to Tasmanian Aboriginal people," chair of TMAG's board of trustees, Brett Torossi said. Each acknowledgement of hurt and wrong doing brings us one step towards healing.
