21.01.2022 Our favourite day of the week is here it’s ‘meet the artists’ day, and this week we get to introduce you to the very talented and charismatic Ketina, Ketina is a proud Indigenous woman from Barunga; she loves to draw animals -- particularly turtles, snakes and clams. When working on Bottles of Lights, Ketina researches her subjects on the internet and trials different styles of drawing. Ketina loves making videos for Facebook particularly sharing her sign language; she also loves modelling with the Bottles of Lights she has made.

20.01.2022 ROYAL COMMISH EDISH (Royal Commission Edition) Did YOU know the Disability Royal Commission look at LOTS of different spaces where people with disability might experience abuse, neglect, violence or exploitation? Their focus at the moment is psychotropic medication. It's just a fancy way of saying medication that affects your mood or emotions. ... Sadly, this kind of medication has been overused in the past to control the behaviour of people with disability. If you want to make a submission to the Royal Commission, need to chat or want to find out more please give us a call (08) 8971 0027

20.01.2022 STAFF PROFILE DAY Introducing (drum roll please) Vanessa! Bio: My name is Vanessa I have lived in Alice for 10 years and love it. Landed here as we had a Art Gallery in Alice and Melbourne . We took the plunge and moved here full time to get out of city. ... What's your role? I am an NDIS Admin Assistant. Yeah, but what does that mean? I do a bit of everything but mainly making sure that all the info is correctly added to our systems and supporting the EqualiTEA and COS teams so they can do their magic. What's the best part about it? What I love is not every day is the same and the amazing team I work with. I love coming to work every day. What do you do when you're not working? have a background in Theatre and studied at Victorian College of the Arts . I painted backdrops for Scenic Studios while they were busy. They look after Australian Ballet and Opera backdrops which was amazing. Before that worked as a ski instructor in Victoria. Which is where the photo comes from. I am a long way from the snow. So, most of my holidays will be in the cold.

20.01.2022 HERE WE GO AGAIN- STAFF PROFILE DAY! Bio: Helen is a wife, mum to three adult children and grandmother to two awesome grandkids. Helen recently made the BIG from Queanbeyan (right next to Canberra) to Alice Springs SHE LOVES IT!!! We will ask her again in SUMMERheee heee heee Helen is a positive person who loves socialising, she is always smiling.hmmm wonder what she is up to???? She says never underestimate her kindness for weakness BIG MISTAKE!!! What's your role: ...EqualiTEA Team Leader for Alice Springs Yeah, but what does that mean: I work with staff and participants to ensure each participant gets the best possible support and opportunities to reach their goals. What's the best thing about it: Meeting AMAZING participants and watching them grow and gain confidence. Knowing that you are supporting them to be the BEST version of themselves. What's the biggest challenge: Being new to the disability sector I find learning all the ‘lingo’ and how all the moving pieces (support services) work together. What do you do when you're not working: I love camping with my husband Brendan and just being with nature, it keeps me grounded and balanced. I have a new found love of baking and trying to ‘fatten-up’ my work colleagues I am succeeding!!!

17.01.2022 STAFF PROFILE DAY- ARE YOU READY FOR THIS?!? Introducing Joe- seriously, you can not find a person who works harder than this guy! YOU try pushing a mower around during summer and tell us how you like it?!? ;) Bio: Hi all, am Joseph Mathenge, 33 years of age, proud husband and father of 1 son (and soon expecting another bundle of joy). I am very proud to be part of the Alice Springs EqualiTEA team, under the umbrella of NT Friendship and Support. I am born and raised in a ...beautiful country (Kenya), and I am sooo lucky to be here in Alice Springs with my family. Challenge me anytime for a marathon, and I will give you a good run for your money coz Kenya right there, is where you will find the best marathoners. What's your role: I am an Employment Engagement Assistant (EEA) working with the other phenomenal and delightful EEA Helen. Yeah, but what does that mean: I work with colleagues and participants to ensure we fully realise their skills for work, as well as engaging them with new employment opportunities. What's the best thing about it: Supporting participants during work and any other engagements which puts a smile on their face. What's the biggest challenge: This being a unique concept a couple of others in the industry still haven't grasped what we do and this has slowed down our progress with some participants not being ready on time for work, BUT we are working together with them to turn things around, for our lovely participants. When not at work: I spend most of my time with my son, and we like going swimming, cycling, and playing in the parks. I am also passionate about exercising and have become a gym rat of late.
