25.01.2022 NEWS: On the advice of the Hume City Council and relevant health authorities, the Melbourne Gold Yearling Sale inspections scheduled for Oaklands from this comi...ng Monday will no longer take place. With the Gold Sale having been moved to the Inglis Digital July (Early) Online Auction as a result of the worsening COVID-19 situation in Victoria, it was planned to still hold physical parades at Oaklands next week. But border closures and tightening restrictions in Victoria has made it impossible for these inspections to take place at Oaklands. Inglis instead encourages buyers to attend on-farm inspections in coming days where possible. Inglis, in conjunction with the TBV and ATA, will distribute a full list of lot numbers and farms where the yearlings will be located, along with a contact name and phone number per farm, to assist in on-farm inspections. Anybody wishing to access this list, please contact the Inglis Melbourne office on 03 9333 1422. READ MORE: https://bit.ly/2W0tTUy

23.01.2022 If you read one social post today let this be it... These images show the helmet of top US Showjumper Laura Kraut after her recent fall. Laura’s horse was weari...ng studs and as Laura landed her head was stepped on twice. Laura sustained injuries to her face but incredibly is back in the show ring today as her helmet was designed to withstand this kind of impact scenario, the PAS 015 (PAS 015:2011) standard, with a BSI Kitemark (this kitemark means the helmet is retested every year). If your helmet does not show this 'PAS 015' BSI Kitemark on the label, your helmet is not designed to withstand this level of crush or stud injury.* What could have been a much worse injury wasn’t just prevented because she wore a helmet, but because she wore THE RIGHT helmet. You only get one head and one brain, protect it with the best. All Charles Owen helmets are made in Britain and tested in our in-house testing facility. Please share this post to protect your fellow riders from a future fatal accident and to raise awareness of the importance of the ‘PAS 015’ standard. Laura wore an Ayr8 on the day of her accident and is remarkably already back competing today. *SNELL safety standard also provides a very high level of protection for crush and stud injuries, you can find this in our 4STAR helmet. VG1 & ASTM do also provide a level of protection but not to the same level as PAS 015.

21.01.2022 **Cancellation of State Championships** It is with enormous regret that Pony Club Association NSW advises of its decision to cancel all 2020 State Championships.... PCANSW had hoped to follow the revised schedule for 2020 to maintain an air of positivity for our sport, regrettably the time has come for us to concede that this is not possible. PCANSW have participated in a number of all-sport briefings with the NSW Government to receive the latest information from NSW Health and the Acting Minister of Sport. The advice at the last meeting was to ‘avoid large, inter-regional championships’. On Monday 17th August 2020, PCANSW received the advice of before the advice of the Chief Medical Officer, Dr Kerry Chant, which requested that all community sport organisations cease any activities that result in overnight stays due to increased risk of COVID transmission in these situations for a period of six (6) weeks commencing 19th August 2020. Three of the re-scheduled State Championship events fell within the six-week period to the which restrictions currently apply, with further events scheduled to occur with the 4 weeks following on from the current restriction. Acknowledging that this is a dynamic situation and recognising that the present restrictions are likely to be extended further, it was felt that the appropriate response would be to cancel all State Championship events for the remainder of 2020. This decision has not been made lightly as PCANSW recognises the broader responsibility we have to contribute positively to stop the transmission of COVID within NSW. PCANSW would like to recognise the enormous effort that goes into the planning and preparation of these events for organising committees, volunteers, competitors, and families. We understand that there will be disappointment because of this decision, however, it was felt that members would benefit most from clear directives for the remainder of 2020. 2020 has been a year that none of us will forget in a hurry, with drought, fires, flood and now COVID so affecting some many of our members, and now the cancellation of State Championships. PCANSW will now re-focus our activities towards providing further training and development opportunities for members for the balance of the year and planning for 2021.

02.01.2022 This morning, Aussie Ark’s staff and animals woke up to the sight of a beautiful snow blanket all over the facility. As the recent snowfall on the Barrington To...ps did not reach Aussie Ark, this milky duvet is the first one the organisation has experienced this year. Bushfires greatly impacted the region during the holiday season, the snow brings with it a true 'White Christmas' ..... in july! It's safe to say all the animals enjoyed the dusting of snow, especially our Tasmanian devils who felt right at home.
