20.01.2022 CHOOSING THE RIGHT FEED... Selecting the right feed product and then feeding it accurately is the one of the most important parts of making sure your feeding program works. Here is how to do that:... FEED THE RECOMMENDED AMOUNT Look on the bag or bucket of the product you are using, find your horse’s body weight and appropriate workload or stage of life and check the recommended daily amount for that product. ARE YOU FEEDING THE RECOMMENDED AMOUNT? It is important to feed the recommended amount of a product because these amounts are carefully calculated to meet your horse’s full nutrient needs. Feeding less means your horse will be left deficient in some nutrients. Feeding more is probably a waste. THE KEY IS TO CHOOSE A FEED THAT HAS A FEEDING RATE APPROPRIATE FOR YOUR HORSE! Within the Pryde’s range there are products with feeding rates from 100 g/day right up to 5 kg/day. Use our product selection trees or the EasiFeed Selector to find the best feed for your horse. If your horse only needs a small amount of feed, go for a balancer pellet (like EasiKeeper - https://www.prydes.com.au/easikeeper) Or if your horse needs more feed, use one of our full feeds (like EasiSport - https://www.prydes.com.au/easisport) If you would like further information or support with any nutrition information, contact Pryde's EasiFeed Qld Representatives - Maddy Todorovski SE Qld & NE NSW M: 0427 423 912 E: [email protected] Hayley Elliott North, Central & SE QLD NE NSW M: 0429 233 496 E: [email protected] Pryde's EasiFeed Head Office P: 1300 732 267 E: [email protected] www.prydes.com.au

17.01.2022 While you are sleeping in for Boxing Day... Let's look at your Horse's sleep! Despite horses ability to snooze standing up, the old farm saying let sleeping horses lie is certainly wise. ... If horses can’t lie down and be totally non-weight-bearing with their heads on the ground, they will not achieve REM (rapid eye movement) sleep. This stage of sleep is the most vital for your horse as they need 30 to 40 minutes a day. Without this short period of deep sleep, a horse will become sleep deprived within a week or so. #EquestrianQLD #Equestrian #SleepingInOnBoxingDay #LetSleepingHorsesLie #SleepyHorse #EQBoxingDay #RestDay #ShutEye #Relax

16.01.2022 The Special General Meeting of Equestrian Australia (EA) was held earlier today with delegates from the six State Branches currently recognised in the EA Constitution (EWA, ESA, EVic, ENSW, ETas & EQ) in attendance. The motion to amend the EA Constitution as published on 16 August 2020 was passed by the five State Branches of EWA, ESA, EVic, ENSW & ETas. EQ elected to abstain from the vote as we remain concerned that the amendment published as clause 40 (State Branch veto vo...te) in the EA constitution does not represent the expressed views of the majority of EA members. Last week, we contacted all State Branches to meet and discuss the revised draft EA Constitution as proposed by the five State Branches. This invitation was either declined or not acknowledged. EQ is committed to working with the new transitional board for EA, the State and Territory Branches, the national discipline committees and members to deliver real and lasting reform of EA in the interest of all members. SADDLE FITTING There are hundreds if not thousands of different saddles, each slightly different in design and performance. Which is why it is so important to get the right advice when choosing a saddle. It’s always recommended that you seek the advice of a Society of Master Saddlers qualified saddle fitter before you purchase a saddle. With experience and knowledge, the correct adjustments will ensure the best fit for both you and your horse. It is also recommended to have the fit of a saddle checked on a regular basis. A horse is a living animal and its back will continue to change and develop according to its age, feed, training, and health. These changes can affect the fit of your saddle and minor alterations are needed to maintain an optimal fit. A re-joining fee of $50 applies to memberships not renewed by 31 January 2021*. RENEW NOW: https://www.nominate.com.au/eaonline/portal/Login.aspx NEW MEMBERS There are four categories of individual memberships; Recreational, Participant, Supporter & Competitor,. The biggest difference between these categories and the decision that will govern your choice; is how you are currently involved with your equestrian activities. The RECREATIONAL category is for those who enjoy horses for pleasure. A Recreational member may have had limited association with EQ in the past and could be a member of an equestrian club that is outside of the seven EA disciplines and could participate at events within a closed club environment. This category is also popular for agistees, parents and volunteers. The SUPPORTER category is for those that aid in the facilitation of the sport such as coaches, officials, owners, grooms, and administrators. The PARTICIPANT category is for those riders who wish to compete but prefer to stay at the recreational levels of the sport. The COMPETITOR category is for those riders who wish to compete at the higher levels or wish to qualify for State, National championships or international events as well as being eligible for State squads. Junior Competitor Members (up to the year their turn 18) are able to apply for the Competitor EA/PCA Dual Junior Membership Refund of $50.00. All membership categories have 24/7 insurance. You can join as a Recreational, Supporter or Participant member and upgrade your membership category later, to avoid the $50 joining fee from 31 January 2021. Only pay the difference between the two membership categories. 07.01.2022 REFORM OF EQUESTRIAN AUSTRALIA - EQ MEMBER RELEASE Friday 11 September 2020 Dear Equestrian Queensland members,... On Wednesday 9 September 2020, Equestrian Queensland (EQ) conducted an online members forum to discuss the Equestrian Australia (EA) Voluntary Administration process and the proposed changes to the EA Constitution. EQ and our members continue to support the proposed amendments to the EA Constitution as published on 30 July 2020 as clause 39 in the table via the link below. LINK: https://www.qld.equestrian.org.au//reform-equestrian-austr We remain concerned that the current proposed amendments published on 16 August 2020 as clause 40 in the table above does not represent the expressed views of the majority of EA members. We welcome the recent assurances from Equestrian NSW and Equestrian Victoria that they will not use their veto right without the support of their members. Yesterday, we wrote to all State Branch Chairs to seek their advice as to whether their Board and Branch would be willing to consider further revisions to the current draft EA Constitution to: a) include Clause 39 as proposed in the EA Draft Constitution published on 30 July 2020 and remove Clause 40 as published on 16 August 2020 b) include Equestrian Northern Territory (ENT) as a recognised Branch with equal rights to that of other Branches in the EA Draft Constitution c) replace the proposed clause 40 as published on 16 August 2020 with: ‘This Constitution can only be altered by Special Resolution, which does not have any effect unless on the same resolution, a simple majority of at least four of the seven Branches vote in favour.’ Any changes to the current draft EA Constitution will require the support of all six state branches currently recognised in the EA Constitution (EWA, ESA, EVic, ENSW & ETas & EQ) ahead of the EA Special General Meeting (SGM) being held on Tuesday 15 September 2020. Throughout this process we have continued to act in accordance with the wishes of our members - 99 per cent of whom voted in favor of the proposed reforms in the KordaMentha DoCA. Finally, EQ is committed to working with the new transitional board for EA, the State and Territory Branches, the national discipline committees and members to deliver real and lasting reform of EA in the interest of all members. Please don’t hesitate to contact the team at EQ if you have any questions on 07 3891 6611 or email [email protected] Equestrian Queensland David Finch, Chair Corey Keable, Vice Chair Sue Austin, Treasurer Nick Ballard, Director Jacqui Huppert, Director Naomi Lane, Director Jane Harms, Director

01.01.2022 Sport Australia Resource Helps Clubs Lift Their Game A new Sport Australia resource launched this week is helping local sporting clubs and organisations across ...Australia not just survive the COVID-19 pandemic but return even bigger and better. Sport Australia’s Game Plan is an online diagnostic tool that volunteers and club administrators can use to improve how they operate and replaces Club Health Check. We know sporting clubs have had to adapt to our ‘new normal’ so sport can return and that can come with challenges, Sport Australia Acting CEO Rob Dalton said. Many sporting clubs are also run by volunteers who may be time poor or have varying levels of experience in running a club. Our Game Plan tool is designed to make life easier for these clubs by connecting them with information and resources they need to help them operate more efficiently and effectively. Clubs can check how they’re performing in 13 areas including four foundation modules that underpin all club operations Governance, Strategy, Finance and Workforce. The modules are quick and easy to complete. Once a club has finished a module, they receive a maturity rating, information and resources to help them improve, and an action plan to assign responsibilities and timelines. The best part about Game Plan is that it’s not limited to a single user any administrator of a club can complete modules suited to their role, whether that’s coaching, sponsorship or finance...read more: https://www.equestrian.org.au//sport-australia-resource-he Equestrian NSW Equestrian Victoria Equestrian South Australia Inc Equestrian Queensland Equestrian Western Australia Equestrian Tasmania Equestrian Northern Territory #ridewithus #fortheloveofthehorse #club #clubsport Sport Australia
