24.01.2022 As 2014 draws to a close I would like to thank all the wonderful people who supported me in the past year. I feel so blessed to be able to follow my passion and meet so many amazingly beautiful people and animals...just love what I do! I wish everyone and their animals a safe, happy, healthy and peaceful 2015.

23.01.2022 As mentioned previously, this muscle is very important in riders, as the more the hips of the rider can soften, the more it allows the horse to move forward freely.

23.01.2022 Pole work is so good for all horses, irrespective of the discipline, especially if they are kept in small flat paddocks.

22.01.2022 Sam and Dee have a blissful Bowen treatment from Ingrid Layton - notice Sammys back legs stretching more than usual after having his neck and back tension rele...ased. Dee almost feel over with relaxation and king has to wait his turn next Wednesday! Ben and Jenny Scheer just played and danced with the boys in the paddock. What gorgeous couple of days. See more

21.01.2022 There is a great to story to go with this which is said to have originated in India.:) Essentially the story is about how perception is based on what people are... able to experience. The more we experience the clearer we may become on what we are experiencing. If we only ever focus our experiences on the tusk for example, that is all we will ever know about the mighty mystical elephant. And anyone saying anything different will be wrong...The reality is the learned expert in the tusk is ignorant to the learned expert of the ear and visa versa yet they are all ignorant to the elephant as a whole :) Silje Endersen Reme said in a talk "we need to cut across our boundaries and collaborate". This has never been truer in order to gain deeper knowledge into the "whole" and maybe one day we may get a bit closer to understanding the phenomena that is our mind and body :)

21.01.2022 Horse Whispers with Mary Hitchcock is only 2 weeks away ( exciting!!!)and earlybird payments are due today. Really looking forward to catching up with everyone coming! Please message me once you have transferred the money. Thank you!

20.01.2022 A beautifully written, well worth reading, article.Thank you Manolo!

20.01.2022 Am a little bit technologically challenged when it comes to sharing things from a magazine...hope it is readable. :)

19.01.2022 Ringbone study from Dr. Deb Bennett i found this on Google images :) feel free to share! http://enlightenedequine.com/2012/05/15/hoof-angles-part-4/

18.01.2022 This little one was very happy just to relax into his bodywork. Notice that these lambs still have their tails. Great to see ethical wool production!

16.01.2022 The beautiful Scoville appreciating bodywork from Ingrid Layton. The Restart thoroughbreds are loving this attention.

15.01.2022 Getting some photos for my new brochure!

13.01.2022 Foot mechanics can be simple when you know and respect its complexity while interacting with the ground... Knowing this is crucial when observing the rest of the skeleton in motion... #whatthefoot

11.01.2022 The only way a horse can say "I dont understand" or "I hurt" is through resistance behaviours.

10.01.2022 Just a reminder that bridle fit (and not only saddle fit!) is important for out horses welfare.

10.01.2022 Fixity is the Enemy of Suppleness & Soundness (Elasticity Rules) Something to keep in mind when you lunge your horse or work him/her in-hand - or ride him/her. ...Fixed headsets, fixed postures, fixed gaits for long or even short stretches of times do not build fitness, instead they build stiffness. Too much energy/activity runs the horse down and damages its body. Not enough energy/activity and he becomes careless and indifferent, disconnected. Remember to vary the gaits, and the gaits within the gaits and to vary the level of activity you ask of your horse. To develop elastic, supple, loose, flexible muscles, tendons and ligaments your horses body needs to gather and extend, open and close, contract and release. His/Her posture must be able to change, his/her neck must be able to shorten, extend, lower or rise to help him/her find its equilibrium and travel in balance. This is true of a young horse and of any horse as it progresses up in its training. Fixity is for corpses, for inanimate matter. The horses body (like our own) is alive. Bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments, skin, eyes, ears, lips, hooves, bones, everything is cells, fascia, everything is alive, constantly adjusting to movement, load, pressure, direction and thus having to be elastic, to absorb, and distribute and give and stretch. The mind of the horse is receiving and telegraphing signals to its body constantly based on the data it receives about its environment but also based on its emotional state which impacts its tonus. Bodies breathe, they expand, they contract, they extend, they flex, they stretch and release. Balance ultimately stems from all this life, these emotions, all these cells and systems being able to constantly self adjust to the space they travel in and the speed they travel at. We do not want to block this process. We want our horses balance to spring from within. We want their minds to decide what to do based on what their senses tell them, not for us to take over their bodys thinking. We want to GUIDE and SHAPE, we do not want to create straight jackets and do hostile take overs. We do not know better then the horses body, it knows how to protect itself, given the chance. (99.99% of the time). When we block our horse and restrict the bodys ability to adjust, the horse is more likely to travel in a manner where he will hit the ground harder and wont absorb and dissipate the, energy, the shock waves throughout his entire body. His joints will have to work harder, his entire structure will suffer. Blocking the horses posture and demanding a high degree of activity at the same time is equally detrimental - it places too much stress on the horses spine, pelvis, stifles, shoulders, joints and tendons and ligaments. The caption reads: Saying NO to fixed headsets and gaits...Why? Developing elastic muscles requires our horses body to open and close, open and close. Trotting in the same pace and posture for too long with make him stiff. To keep him suple, alternate short bursts of energy with a slower pace that allows him to stretch forward, down and OUT, and relax. We do not ask him to perform with great energy for long periods: this will over tire his body and begin damaging him. We do not work him in a relaxed frame all the time or he will become loose and careless. 09.01.2022 Did you know that Bowen Therapy can help keep your spine aligned without manipulation? By gently releasing the fascia, the muscles relax, structural alignment ...improves, hence improving nerve and blood flow to all parts of the body. Safe and gentle, Bowen therapy is my choice for every body from infants the the elderly. Every body LOVES Bowtech, and your body will too! See more

08.01.2022 Have just come back from 3 amazing days observing at the Manolo clinic at the beautiful Woodend Equestrian Centre. So much to learn and take in. Manolo is passionate about teaching humans how to help make/keep their horses happy in their work through empathetic and biomechanically correct training methods. His horsemanship is poetry in motion! Just love the compassionate, thought provoking work of this man.

07.01.2022 Thank you to all the fantastic people who supported me again this year. It is humbling to be able to meet and work with such beautiful beings, both animal and human. Still love my work! May you all have a great Christmas, and may you and your animals have a safe, happy and healthy 2016.

07.01.2022 Fascia is just the most amazing stuff! Fascia is what Bowen type therapies address. This is the reason why these therapies are so beneficial for not just the musculoskeletal system, but for whole body health as well. Restrictions in the fascia can cause pain and limits performance potential in both horses and humans.

06.01.2022 Bowen Therapy can be extremely effective for frozen shoulders!

06.01.2022 Have just had a fascinating 2 day Mind and Body Bowen course here in Hobart. Gentle body work just works on so many levels. Just love this work!

03.01.2022 Have just returned from an awesome 10 days away on bodywork courses...just love what I do and learning more!

03.01.2022 Manolo and Dinamico, working in-hand. This tranquil, gentle bending work develops the horses suppleness from ears to tail, his even-ness and his balance. Mano...lo works in motion and sometimes in slow motion -asking for one leg to move, or for one very deliberate step either on a straight or bended line. This gentle, slow work is helpful in creating new neuromuscular patterns, teach or re-educate movements and rehabilitate compromised posture and movement. 03.01.2022 These muscles play a big role in riding, as they are a vital component of core stability, postural alignment and balance. A balanced rider makes the horses job so much easier...imagine going for a walk with an unevenly weighted back pack!! Research into the iliopsoas is providing an ever increasing body of evidence that this muscle group has a big impact on neck pain, migraines, low, middle and upper back pain as well as hip problems and more. As the trapezius muscle, (a large kite shaped muscle) starts at the base of the skull and attaches to the same vertebra (T12) as the top of the psoas, tightness in the psoas will impact on the trapezius which then impacts on the shoulders and so it goes on! Take home message...be just as mindful of YOUR body as that of your horse.

02.01.2022 Did You Know: When you kiss someone you can spread up to 278 types of germs! But hey, its good for our immune system! "Kissing was developed to spread germs ...It isnt the most romantic theory, but scientists believe kissing was developed to spread germs which build up immunity to illness." 02.01.2022 Sometimes Science can be very slow!!

01.01.2022 My first article for publication in Horses and People Magazine.

01.01.2022 Home again after continuing my Ortho-Bionomy journey with a FANTASTIC 6 day residential at Byron Bay. This type of bodywork meshes so beautifully with the Bowen type work I practise. It has the same underpinning philosophy of allowing the body to utilize its own corrective mechanisms by using gentle, deliberate, yet effective movements, always respecting the needs of each individual.
