25.01.2022 A couple of doe eyed beauties for today Two things I got thinking about on my travels: ~ If your horses training program starts to increase in intensity it’s always a good idea to schedule in a treatment. Like us, this can really start to tell on the body and it’s best to make sure that any suspect areas of tension are seen to before they become a serious issue... ~ If you start to suspect there are issues ie; changes in movement patterns due to compensation etc, booking a treatment session sooner rather than later can get these issues sorted quickly and any targeted stretches / exercises can be implemented straight away #equinemassage #equinetherapist #equinesportsandremedialtherapy #horses #horselove #performancehorse #equinebodyworker #horsesofinstagram #lovemyjob #equifix #equifixequinetherapy

15.01.2022 Throw back to a week ago working on this gorgeous young mans #hamstring #muscles. There are 3 parts to the hamstrings - the #bicepsfemoris and the two I'm #mass...aging here, the #semitendinosus and the #semimembranosus Horses experiencing #tension in these muscles will often have difficulty straightening the #stifle and will display a shortening of forward #movement in the affected limb. There may also be a resistance to lateral movement with the affected limb tracking inwards. If your horse is carrying the tail to the side, there is a good chance that tension and / or pain is in present in the hamstrings. It's important to get your horses checked over by a qualified #equinetherapist to ensure the cause of the issue is removed and the muscles can once again become soft and #supple allowing the horse to be pain free and to return to optimal function See more

06.01.2022 This. Targeted exercises and stretches and follow up treatments are not given for the sake of it. There is no magical quick fix, it’s why I always talk about a whole horse approach which will also include diet, feet, teeth etc. We also have to think about the role that we play as riders as well, we have to have a critical eye on ourselves- get a good coach, get yourself worked on with massage or whatever it is that works for you too. Lastly, always be an advocate for the horse. The horse comes first.
