12.01.2022 The age old MYTH: you need hard or painful pressure to release tissue! A change in tissue tension is granted by the nervous system. The nervous system is not deaf - no need to shout at it.

11.01.2022 We may be biased, but Bowen therapy is bloomin' brilliant! What other "b" words would you use to describe Bowen? Tell us below! Visit www.bowen.org.au to find a Bowen therapist near you.

11.01.2022 Lipedema is a poorly understood disease globally, but even more so in the United States; statistics show it is markedly under-diagnosed in this country. If untr...eated, it can cause multiple health problems leading to immobility. #lipedema #lipedemasimplified #lipedemaproject #ItsNotYourFault

10.01.2022 LYMPH NODES OF PELVIS External iliac lymph nodes: lie above the pelvic brim, along the external iliac vessels. They receive lymph mainly from the inguinal l...ymph nodes; however, they receive lymph from pelvic viscera, especially the superior parts of the middle to anterior pelvic organs. Whereas most lymphatic drainage from the pelvis tends to parallel routes of venous drainage, lymphatic drainage to the external iliac nodes does not. These nodes drain into the common iliac nodes. Internal iliac lymph nodes: clustered around the anterior and posterior divisions of the internal iliac artery and the origins of the gluteal arteries. They receive drainage from the inferior pelvic viscera, deep perineum, and gluteal region and drain into the common iliac nodes. Sacral lymph nodes: lie in the concavity of the sacrum, adjacent to the median sacral vessels. They receive lymph from postero-inferior pelvic viscera and drain either to internal or common iliac nodes. Common iliac lymph nodes: lie superior to the pelvic brim, along the common iliac blood vessels, and receive drainage from the three main groups listed above. These nodes begin a common route for drainage from the pelvis that passes next to the lumbar (caval/aortic) nodes. Inconstant direct drainage to the common iliac nodes occurs from some pelvic organs (e.g., from the neck of the bladder and inferior vagina).

10.01.2022 There's a key spot in your lymphatic system commonly referred to as the "waterwheel". It's a spot below the ear with multiple lymph nodes and is a spot to which much of the head and face drains. When congested, it often results in neck, jaw and throat pain.

08.01.2022 Bowen Therapy is a State of the Art Healing modality! I and many others have found it to be to be one of the most profound and effective healing therapies Kno...wn. I have tried all manner of complementary treatments before I discovered Bowen Therapy, Massage, Chiropractic, Osteopathy, Physiotherapy, Acupuncture, Ayurveda, Shiatsu, Kinesiology, Reiki, Yoga, to name a few. There is nothing out there like Bowen Therapy, it is unique and it gets results. Many who have experienced the incredible nature and effectiveness of Bowen tend to adopt it as a priority treatment. To clarify, I am not discounting the intrinsic value of all the other healing modalities out there. As I understand that everybody is different and what is effective for one person may not be for another, and that we may require specific treatments pending on the problem at any given time. However, Bowen Therapy in many cases is able to achieve very positive outcomes in a short space of time and maintain resolve. Many of my patients including myself prior to Bowen Therapy had to have ongoing long drawn out treatment protocols to achieve resolution, if at all. The reason for Bowen Therapies effectiveness is because of its special qualities. It is a multifaceted treatment, meaning that it works on many levels of the body, and is active for some time. Its cross fibre gentle moves in precise areas release muscle tension locally and throughout the body, brings about increase hydration, circulation, increase mobility, detoxification, and results in musculoskeletal re-balancing. An additional key factor or what makes it unique is that it re-balances the autonomic nervous system which controls all subconscious body functions, like heart rate, breathing, elimination etc. When stress has accumulated in the body we can stay in sympathetic mode, or Fight and Flight, a danger response for too long. Its like a car that is going at 150 km an hour constantly, it is not sustainable. Eventually something gives and breaks down and we get an illness, or there is no energy left to heal and repair something even simple. We forget how much energy it takes to keep up with all the trillions of jobs that our body has to do every day to keep us alive and functioning optimally. Bowen Therapy calms the nervous system and stimulates parasympathetic mode, the emergency is over and we are able to rest relax repair, digest and FEEL GREAT What other therapy is able to do all this? Try it for yourself you wont be disappointed!

08.01.2022 Help your body flick the switch with Bowen therapy! Its gentle touches work with your nervous system to ease the sympathetic stress response, switching you from "fight/flight/freeze" to "rest and digest" where healing can occur. To find a Bowen therapist near you, visit www.bowen.org.au.

06.01.2022 Every body is better with Bowen therapy! Bowen therapy is gentle and appropriate for people of all ages and in all stages of health. Visit www.bowen.org.au to find a Bowen therapist near you.

03.01.2022 NECK, SHOULDER & BACK PAIN AS A RESULT OF CARRYING YOUR HANDBAG ON ONE SHOULDER WHY SHOULDN'T YOU CARRY YOUR HANDBAG THIS WAY? Many women carry their handba...gs on one shoulder, and they tend to favour the dominant, stronger, or non-injured one. Even if the bag is empty and very light, the natural slope of the shoulder means they are going to have to elevate the scapula/shoulder girdle with contraction of the upper shoulders and neck to prevent the bag from sliding off. This isometric contraction overuses and abuses the muscles of the neck. If the bag is heavy, it's even worse because a more powerful muscular contraction is needed, and the strap of the bag digs into the musculature of the shoulder, causing direct physical irritation and cutting off local blood circulation. WHERE DOES THE PAIN COME FROM? Due to your bodys efforts to redistribute the extra weight, your muscles tense more and as such become stiff. The trapezius muscle and the muscles that go from your shoulder to the base of your neck, which sits on top of your shoulders, may spasm and therefore tighten, resulting in a lot of stiffness in the upper back, shoulder area and neck. This may lead to pain when turning your head and the development of arthritis in the lower neck. Some may even develop tension headaches from constantly carrying heavy handbags. As the muscles in your shoulder and neck area spasm, it can result in pain from the back of your skull that radiates around to the front. ADVICE It's better to either wear the bag across the body or to use a backpack.
