23.01.2022 Do you need some help with your farm layout? We can help you visualise things by drawing ideas directly onto a aerial map. It's a great way to see how things will fit on your farm. For local farms we like to do a walk around visit with you so we can get a good idea of how you want your farm to be set up.

23.01.2022 I'm sure every farm has that one horse who likes to destroy things! Easily fixed with minimal cost.

22.01.2022 How is this for a stunning garden! Yes it is in Melbourne but you could create this anywhere. The crazy path was made by my Dad and my sister. The garden design and maintenance is also managed by my sister. This garden is certainly the inspiration for mine!

20.01.2022 The best time of the year!

19.01.2022 We haven't been on here for a while partly due to the overwhelming response generated by this page. As it has become a little overwhelming, we are now limiting the design package to within a 50km radius of Inverloch Vic. We hope this enables us to provide a good service and some time to share ideas with everyone on our page. A design package includes- a walk and talk at your farm discussing ideas, sketch plans to help visualise ideas, recommended contractor contacts, recommended supplier contacts, occasional outings to some existing facilities in the local area for ideas, pasture management tips and our two favourites, garden design and colour schemes. A design package is $250+ gst. Please ring 0438367009 for further details.

18.01.2022 If you have the room fruit trees are a great addition to the gardens and your horses will love a good apple supply! Pictured here is a beautiful ornamental crabapple and an old fashioned normal apple tree which usually gives a great fruit crop.

18.01.2022 Here is an idea you may find useful at your farm. In each of our larger paddocks we have made two small yards. They are useful for many purposes such as rugging the young ones, feeding horses separately and worming our 26 year old who is convinced we try and poison him every time!

17.01.2022 Do you spend every daylight hour outside? Forget housework and spend the time making your outdoor environment a beautiful place to be in!

11.01.2022 Before you throw out a broken headcollar retrieve the the metal bits. With a few staples they can become handy as hay net rings or to clip gates back!

09.01.2022 Capeweed, flat weed and dandelion. There seems to be an abundance of capeweed , flat weed and dandelion this year. Through trial and error we have found dicamba (Kamba M) to be the most effective, especially on flat weed and dandelion. Flat weed ( Hypochoeris radicata) and dandelion (Taraxacum officinale) control is important on your equine farm as they have both been assiciated with seasonal outbreaks of stringhalt like symptoms.

08.01.2022 With a little bit of imagination, windbreaks and roadside planting can be both a functional and an attractive addition to your farm. We have planted mainly natives but some spring bulbs are always a high light!

07.01.2022 Are your arena letters looking past it? Ours certainly were but rather than throw them out, we gave them a good scrub clean then used white killrust paint first. A permanent marker was used to trace the letters and then they were filled in with black killrust. Not perfect but they look fine. We chose to remove them from the frame and attach them directly to the fence.

06.01.2022 The start of a stable yards project. Before we can start the fun bits the drainage problem needed to be addressed. We used a pit drain in the area that gathered a lot of water and a pipe and screenings drain in front of the stables and out to the paddock. While we were at it, we put the water to the trough under ground as well.

05.01.2022 This gate is often joined to another to give access from a yard to a paddock. We replaced the rope using small 'D' shackles, some chain and a solid clip. This client also has little dogs and needs this gate dog proofed at the bottom. To tidy this up we attached a wooden rail to the gate and used a galvanised mesh.

04.01.2022 Handy hint. Use electric fence signs or the' shut the gate' signs that come with gates to clearly label paddocks that have undergone procedures which make them unsafe for stock. We write the 'safe date' in whiteboard marker so it can be changed easily.

03.01.2022 Things don't have to be perfect to be beautiful.

02.01.2022 Farm gates are not made to stand up to hooves or even a bit of a shirt front from a horse anymore! The best solution we have found is electric tape across a gate but this isn't always practical. We purchased the equine small mesh gates pictured at the top recently only to have the welds break and the gates warp very quickly. We used chicken wire on the old gate at the bottom as an experiment and from a safely perspective, it works well. From now on we will purchase standard gates for a fraction of the price and mesh them ourselves!
