25.01.2022 DeVega Peach after recovering from a superficial gluteal tear back in March, she’s run third and second since but yesterday was her day, she was smiling the whole way. We sure missed stable jockey Lani Fancort but Peach was piloted in style by Ricki Palmer. It’s a team of caring people here and I want to say thanks to the staff for all the effort necessary to produce the successful Rehab of a equine athlete. Well done

A quick re intro to the water and she was off, after a few tentative strokes she got the rythm and powered on to her stable mate Rakete who was waiting at the out ramp.

05.01.2022 Theraplate day for Rakete And Furstina La Joer today after a bush ride. The theraplate is a vortex wave machine that they stand on. They are in it for about 45 minutes at intervals of increasing intensity and then a warm down period. Fantastic for hoof and leg circulation.

04.01.2022 Beechwood Francillo or Pancho had a bad slip resulting in a fall April of 2018. The owner tried hard to resolve the hindend lameness that ensued the fall. She had full lameness work ups from several Vets, thermal imaging, and in the end even tried gelding scaring manipulation in every attempt to get her horse back to a higher level of comfort. Osphos and Tildren provided some comfort initially but was not effective on the second round of injections. In the August this year (...2020) the owner contacted me to see if I thought I could help. I originally saw the gelding at his home near Redlands Bay. The reports were all emailed to me and the findings all were collaboratively indicative of Sacroiliac issues. On palpation he was 9/10 reactive in the right sacroiliac joint and 6/10 reactive in the left. The muscles of the lumbar spine and many of the posterior postural muscles were in spasm. I performed Shockwave and the horse was brought up to the Equine Edge Rehabilitation clinic for a month of intensive treatment with Shockwave, acupuncture, Bowen therapy, Massage, and Theraplate treatments. The Owner came and rode the horse near the end of week 3 and reported a significant improvement in the way the horse felt and carried his hindquarters. She reported that after the fall the horse was dropping out on the right hind however he did not repeat this action on that ride. She had another ride when she picked up Pancho at the end of week four and was smiling when we returned. The horse left with a ridden rehab program and follow up visits were performed at 2/3 week intervals for the following two months. The owner reports the horse is in work 4 days a week and she is happy with his movement. He is using his hindquarters as required and is continuing to stay sound. It’s still only three months in but we have high hopes to see him back in the Dressage arena in 2021 See more

02.01.2022 Rakete And Furstina La Joer have been in our care for a week now while the owner is on holiday, I’ve sent posts of some of the services we offer and I’ll continue as opportunities arise. They are so happy and confident in the pool and on the trails after a week and I’ve been very happy with response to treatments including shockwave, acupuncture, Bowen, trigger point and Equine theraplate. They enjoy the Equivibe and the warm Magnesium baths. They are coping with sessions on the equine walker and thriving in the paddock during the day and sleeping in a stable over 4 meters square each night. I’m not sure who is enjoying their stay more, them or me. I truly hope the owner is enjoying her holiday as much as her horses are enjoying their stay at Equine Edge Rehabilitation
