25.01.2022 I’ve just had two spots open up for the workshop this coming Sunday. If you would like to attend, please get in contact

25.01.2022 How well do you think you know your horse? I am absolutely sure you could tell me his eye colour, his favourite treat and who his best mate is out in the paddock. But could you tell me which leg he prefers to carry most of his weight on? Could you tell me how many vertebrae he has in his tail? How about whether the growth plates of his thoracic vertebrae are fused or not? What if ... someone ...created a full day workshop where you could actually learn how to put together a whole horse skeleton and try to detective out how that horse lived and moved... What if that person actually had a growing collection of skeletons and a passion for educating and sharing their bony ponies? Wouldn’t that be something?

24.01.2022 I have a workshop on Sunday! There are still a couple of places available and here’s why I think you should come: It’s only a half day, starting at a very respectable 9:00am and we’re done by 2:00pm. Our location for the day is the very beautiful Yalbaroo Scenic Rim Retreat, a beautiful (and quite posh) little BnB only 10ish minutes outside Beaudesert. You’ll be wowed by the beautiful place we get to spend our day.... We’re a Covid Safe event. I’ve had training up to my eyeballs and am swimming in soap and sanitiser. We got you covered (Literally covered - I have face masks and gloves for all) We’re actually in the ‘border bubble’ so if you’re in the NSW border bubble, you can come! (I think that’s how it works... we might just have to double check with the government on that one ) It’s a ‘learning by doing’ event where you actually get to handle the skeletons of some amazing horses. Put ‘em together, see how they tick. They’re cleaned, sanitised and not smelly at all - I told you, I got you covered I’m pretty sure Rachel (amazing owner and our host at Yalbaroo) is baking scones for morning tea. And man, this woman can cook! it’s only $150 (seriously, I’d probably pay that for Rachel’s cooking, let alone the learning that’s gonna happen!) So send me a message and tell me you want to come, already we’re excited to have you https://www.facebook.com/events/625589111707981/?ti=icl

23.01.2022 One of the great joys of my work is watching you learn about and from your horse. Seeing the depth of connection between the two of you grow and develop. Being able to witness the triumphs, the setbacks and the ‘aha’ moments. These are the moments that bring you and your horse together, and I am honoured to be able to have a small part in that. Much love to you all Rachel Dalgliesh and her beautiful boy RED sharing a heart-meltingly tender moment

21.01.2022 When you can’t play in the snow at Christmas, sawdust can make an alright substitute Brenden and Pete the Pony making sawdust angels

21.01.2022 Apparently, I am a bad pony There are also some names I recognise on this list...seems I’m in good company on the ‘Naughty’ list, at least.

21.01.2022 Not only do I have the best neighbour, but she has the spunkiest horse Here we have Lottie totally putting my Quest to shame in the beautiful neck department Two outstanding rehabilitation horses, my Quest, and Deb Benstead’s Lottie

20.01.2022 Love is... Offering your crazy, bone loving partner the tray of your truck to clean and process a horse skeleton What would I do without you, Brenden? ... PS. Geez does this mare have some stories to tell!!

20.01.2022 One year ago today, I sat and watched as this lovely little dog was born. Never in my life could I have imagined how much joy my little pupper sidekick could bring to the world, and yet here she is. Poppy Ashley - friend to all, ray of sunshine, provider of dirty paw prints on clean clothes and squeaker of toys. Happy birthday

17.01.2022 Sunday morning sleep in

16.01.2022 Xia 01.08.2003- 11.12.2020 I never met a horse as strong or as kind Je n’ais pas peur

16.01.2022 Sometimes we can forget how precious and delicate our horses are. They are big animals with a large presence, but just watch Quest pick milk thistles with precision and delicacy. So careful, so gentle. A wonderful reminder that the smallest action, the most gentle touch, can be all it takes to have a big effect on our beautiful horses.

16.01.2022 I am feeling the best kind of exhausted tonight. We had a cracker of a workshop today - amazing people, the best food and some wonderful horses to learn from. Huge thanks to everyone who came out today, I had an absolute blast with you. I’m so proud of the questions you asked, your thirst for knowledge and the enthusiasm with which you approached the day. Rachel and Ray, thank you a million times for opening up your beautiful property to us. And thank you to my beloved Cruise and Rocky, without whom none of this could possibly have happened. Days like today make it all worthwhile.

16.01.2022 Abso-freaking-lutely

14.01.2022 Thank you so much to all the amazing women who braved the wild winds to come to today’s workshop. Really, this picture says it all. Everything I love - people learning from ponies, working together with each other and solving the most intriguing jigsaw puzzle there is. What a day

09.01.2022 SUNDAY 9th AUGUST WORKSHOP I’ve finally gone and done it! I am so proud to present to you this Skeletal Anatomy Workshop, to be held at my home in Boonah on Sunday 9 August, 9am til 2pm. My favourite questions to ask are always ‘How’ and ‘Why’ - this workshop gives us the opportunity to deeply examine the how’s and why’s of the equine skeleton. If you’d like to book a place, please contact me in any of the usual ways. Places are limited, but I will be running more workshops at various locations soon.

09.01.2022 Would you get multiple points for regularly forgetting to turn off the horse water?* *asking for a friend, obvs...

09.01.2022 I don’t think I will ever stop loving these clinics. I get to spend a day watching people fall in love with the knowledge that the skeleton of a horse can give you - understanding deeply how the body of the horse works, and how we as horse people influence it. I love seeing everyone be excited and amazed at Cruise and Rocky. You guys give them life Thank you all, so very much.

08.01.2022 This is day three of rescheduling work, changing plans, slowing down. Well, totally stopping, in fact. I am sitting on my verandah, dry and snuggled up with a warm blanket, cup of tea steaming, just watching the world around me. There’s not much to see, because the rain is so heavy that my beautiful view has disappeared. I could be the only person in the world right now. And while I realise the situation is not the same for others (please be safe, everyone)to be able to sit here in my little slice of paradise with the freedom to just listen to the rain fall and the frogs sing fills me with love and gratitude. Soon, I will get back to work rescheduling massage sessions and creating the content for my kickass Discovering Anatomy workshops, but for the moment, I sit in gratitude and listen.

06.01.2022 I hope you enjoy your weekend even half as much as RED enjoys his massages!

04.01.2022 We all know I love a good skeleton...and this skull that Evelyn has loving cleaned and catalogued is amazing!!

04.01.2022 So... Coffs Harbour, Grafton...whose horse is ready for some bodywork? I’m coming back!! Dates TBC, but I’m looking at end of Nov/early Dec. Let me know if you’d like to book in, and I can begin to plan the schedule

03.01.2022 The work that I do with skeletons constantly has me wondering about the lives of the animals that I get to hold in my hands and learn from. Those of you who have been to a workshop or seen my live videos will have noticed that I always refer to my bony ponies by name and I will often talk to them, not just about them. Now, yes, that is quite an eccentricity (and I figure I need to develop some eccentricities as I grow older) but it is also a mark of respect for the animal tha...t came before. These bones aren’t just inanimate objects - you can get a feel of what the animal was like, the life it lived and the soul that made it who it was. And to be able to share these souls with you brings me such a profound joy and gratitude. I am grateful to you for visiting with these skeletons and learning from them, because in doing that, you bring them back to life. Bookings for my Discovering Anatomy workshops are still available - contact me today to book a spot Murrumbateman, NSW - Sunday 2 May Wangaratta, Vic - Saturday 8 May Kyneton, Vic - Sunday 9 May Sunshine Coast, Qld - Sunday 16 May Glenreagh (near Coffs Harbour), NSW - Saturday 22 May Minimbah (near Foster), NSW - Sunday 23 May

03.01.2022 Garibaldi the donkey overseeing my work on his best mate, Apache #EmotionalSupportDonkey #ThatsWhatFriendsAreFor NB. This sweet little donk started life in a pretty shonky living situation, but now, at only two years old has a new life with his beautiful family and an awesome paddock to call home. His only job is to be friends with Apache and eat the grass, duties that the sweet little dude takes very seriously

03.01.2022 Here are two pencil sketches to compare. The first is a piaffe, executed with strength and alignment. The second is a piaffe created through compression and force. Both are reproductions of true images. Look, I’m the first person to admit that I’m not the world’s best artist... but I’m trying to illustrate a point here, not win the Archibald My point is this - It is time that we really invest in looking deeper at the bodies of the horses who are performing today, from grass... roots to grand prix level. Our own horses and our friend’s, our mentor’s horses and our heroes’. We need to question and think critically abut our training methods and the path we travel to reach our goals. As consumers of the equestrian art form, we should not be afraid to investigate the training philosophies and methodologies of the riders we admire. It is absolutely possible to look deeply and critically at an artwork without attacking the artist, and so it is also possible to look deeply and critically at a ridden performance without attacking the rider. We need to become vigilantly aware of the posture and structure of our horses, because it is our job to look after them. It is our job to give everything we can to them with the best of our abilities. And if we get stuck doing something ‘we always did’ because that’s ‘what we’ve always done,’ it might be time to look a little deeper. PS You don’t have to be able to ride the movement in order to analyse the posture. Question everything its how we learn

01.01.2022 I’ve sat laughing at this picture for ten minutes. Can’t for the life of me think of a caption though Any clever suggestions?
