24.01.2022 How was your Christmas? Did you get any horse related presents? Anyone lucky enough to get a horse for Christmas?

21.01.2022 How many pets do you have? Share your photos of them We have 4 at the moment: Katie (top left) who is a ARPx approx 28 years, Dolly (top right) 16 yo TB, Zapp (bottom left) 13yo Maltese shitzhu, and Harry (bottom right) 10yo greyhound

21.01.2022 With lots of competitions back underway (woohoo ) it’s important to make sure your horse is coping with any increases in the demand of their workload. Massage has lots of benefits, and can help your horse feel better and perform better! I have some appointments available over the next couple of weeks, so why not book your horse in and make sure their body is coping with their workload?

19.01.2022 Life’s been super busy lately which has meant I’ve been really slack in keeping in touch with you all! I’ve just sent a newsletter and my October resolution (it’s a new thing ) is to send a newsletter out every couple of weeks! If you’d like to be kept up to date with what I’m doing, as well as receiving useful tips to keep your horse fit and healthy, make sure you’re on my mailing list You can subscribe via the newsletter tab on the menu or simply message me your email address and I’ll add you

19.01.2022 Here are 4 easy ways that you can help my small business without booking an appointment for you or your horse (although I’d love you to do that as well! )

18.01.2022 A little bit of #motivationmonday for you all! Hope you’re having a great long weekend

18.01.2022 Can you believe it’s less than 5 weeks until Christmas How organized are you with Christmas presents? I’m seriously disorganized this year and need some help! If you have a business that has items that would make a great Christmas present, or you’ve seen something really cool that you’d like and think others would like please drop your idea (and links ) in the comments section. I’m sure there must be other people like me who need some present inspo!

17.01.2022 Do you have a favorite breed of horse? If so, what is it?

15.01.2022 What colour saddlecloth do you use?

14.01.2022 Do you have any New Years resolutions?

13.01.2022 What does your horse think you should do this weekend? Mine is: This weekend my horse thinks I should do a couple things with them a couple of weeks ago but they don’t think they have a problem

13.01.2022 What reactions should you expect from your horse during a massage? You’ve probably seen lots of photos like this one, of horses yawning or even falling asleep And yes, I often get those reactions from horses I’m working on but not always! It really depends on your horses personality and also how sore they are! Some horses try to hold everything in, but they often give more subtle clues that they’re enjoying it such as the eyes becoming soft, licking & chewing, breathing sl...owing down, and becoming less tense in their posture. But.... for horses that are quite sore all over or anxious (or both!) they may fidget a bit, or even show what they’re feeling with their teeth or hooves! Ouch! Have you ever been for a massage when you’re really sore? It hurts! And you understand when your therapist warns you it may hurt, and can ask them to stop if it gets really unbearable. This is the only way our horses can express that they want us to stop! I try to stay within their limit of what they’re comfortable with, and that may mean a lighter massage or even a shorter session. It’s important that we work on the horse as much as possible without causing stress to the horse. Over time these horses often change in their demeanor and learn to LOVE massage as their body & mind relaxes, and we end up with reactions like the one pictured, but there are no shortcuts to a healthy body & mind and this process is different for every horse I treat

11.01.2022 Why do you get massages? (For yourself or your horse?) Let me know if it’s for any of the following reasons, or something different 1. To improve performance ... 2. Pain relief/pain management 3. To prevent pain 4. To keep the body mobile 5. Relaxation 6. Rehabilitation after injury See more

11.01.2022 Ok, it’s a bit extreme (and I don’t think the rhino is really balancing on a ball ) but if your horses posture when it’s standing on the ground looks anything like this, they are putting a huge amount of stress on their body! Standing with either front or hind legs underneath them (or all!) is a sign that there is something happening in their body which is making them uncomfortable. Why not book an appointment for them to ensure they are comfortable ... Book here: https://www.equinemusclematters.com.au/booknow/

11.01.2022 What a gorgeous day! Do you have a busy weekend planned or are you chilling like Harry?

09.01.2022 It’s getting closer! What advice would you give to first time parents?

09.01.2022 ~ Terminology Tuesday ~ Soft tissue refers to tissues that connect, support, or surround other structures and organs of the body. Soft tissue includes muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia, nerves, fibrous tissues, fat, blood vessels, and synovial membranes. Muscles, tendons and ligaments are the soft tissues that are most commonly injured. Soft tissue injuries such as contusions (bruises), sprains and strains are common, and usually result in pain and inflammation. Injuries often occur when the duration, intensity or frequency of workload is suddenly increased, and many of these injuries can be prevented with proper conditioning.

04.01.2022 It’s so annoying when you have to explain to your massage therapist what it is you do when you ride. They don’t understand what muscles you use for different movements, the difference between dressage and eventing, and think you just sit there while the horse does all the work! Imagine being massaged by a horse rider who understands exactly what you do and won’t tell you not to ride your horse! Ok, I actually can’t promise I’ll never do that, but if I do recommend it you’ll k...now there’s a good reason! What I can promise you is that I understand why your legs ache after riding, why you need to keep your shoulders back & relaxed, and your lower back mobile. I can help you to work through any aches & pains to maintain a good position and be in balance & harmony with your horse! Does that sound good to you?
