24.01.2022 Introducing the herd Derek Derek is a 3 year old miniature shetland who I was lucky enough to get for Christmas a couple of years ago - every horse loving girl's dream! He is the only member of the herd who came to us specifically to be a therapy pony. Derek has an outgoing personality and he's afraid of nothing. He makes me laugh most days and loves a good scratch, usually wanting to groom you in return.... If you would like to work with Derek and the rest of the herd, please give me a call to make an appointment!

24.01.2022 Introducing the herd Reggie Last but certainly not least! Reggie joined our herd in August 2015. She has experienced some significant trauma before coming to us and sadly I have never met any horse who was so terrified of people. She does love getting carrots now though! Reggie is slowly coming around and while she is not going to be participating in one on one therapy sessions just yet, she might feel brave enough to come over and introduce herself on her own terms. ... If you have enjoyed meeting our herd on Facebook, you will love meeting them in 'person'. Give me a call to experience all our beautiful herd has to offer.

24.01.2022 Introducing the herd Marley Marley is a five year old clydesdale x quarter horse. She has been with our family for almost three years now. I bought Marley off of a photo on Facebook, something I have never done before but there was just something about her that made me throw the usual rules for horse buying out the window. Marley was on borrowed time, destined for slaughter for human consumption (awful, I know :(). We could barely touch her when she arrived but she has slowly... blossomed into a beautiful mare with what I would describe as a funny personality. If you would like to work with Marley, or any other members of our herd, please give me a call to book an appointment!

24.01.2022 Neil and Marley reflecting a client's lovely calm energy today. Horses are the best mirrors.

24.01.2022 A lovely clip showing how much difference equine assisted therapy can make

23.01.2022 You will often hear horses sighing or or having big, what I call 'snorty' breaths. It is their very effective way of self regulating and discharging excess energy - something that is also very effective for people!

23.01.2022 Had a great time introducing Carolyn from What's on in Adelaide to equine assisted therapy and learning recently and here's what she had to say about it.

23.01.2022 More progress on my therapy room. With the weather starting to change it's going to be good timing!

22.01.2022 My room is getting close to being finished!

21.01.2022 Introducing the herd Neil Neil is a nine year old thoroughbred who came to our family a little over four years ago after he did not make it as a race horse. His sire was Caulfield Cup winner Diatribe, so I'm sure there was some expectation around his likely success, however Neil had other ideas. He has some hang ups from his early years but you will not find a more gentle, loving soul.... If you would like to work with Neil and the rest of the herd, please get in touch and book your equine assisted therapy session today!

21.01.2022 I am very excited to announce that I am heading to Arizona in a couple of weeks to train in EquiLateral - the equine-assisted EMDR protocol. So happy to find EMDRIA approved training that combines my two therapy loves in a way that fits perfectly with my current practice - and I'll be the first person from Australia to be trained in it!

19.01.2022 Heading off to the USA tomorrow so I won't be available by telephone until 17/12. If you need to contact me please pm me or send me an email - [email protected] and I'll get back to you when I can.

17.01.2022 This is Derek and I this morning. When I show up, so does he. He meets me where I'm at and he doesn't care if my hair is a mess (his is always fabulous ) or I'm in my daggiest clothes. He, and the rest of my beautiful herd, keep me grounded. I practice equine assisted psychotherapy and learning so that others may have an opportunity to experience enhanced wellbeing through the power of horses.

15.01.2022 Great opportunity to share some of my experience as a therapist and horse person. Thanks to Julie from Horse SA for inviting me to be part of this initiative, looking forward to seeing the finished product :)

13.01.2022 A horse's sensitivity and intuition are second to none. Allowing yourself to be open to these amazing beings creates space for great healing and self realisation

11.01.2022 Spring has sprung! It's a bit long but who doesn't love watching happy ponies enjoying themselves

11.01.2022 Last week Jessie from Today Tonight came out to meet the horses to do a story on alternative therapies for stress management. I'm not one for being in the spotlight so this was a little out of my comfort zone but the horses loved it!

10.01.2022 Nothing like the calm energy of sleepy horses

10.01.2022 Derek being Derek at tea time. His determination always makes me smile

10.01.2022 Hi Everyone. I know some people have been concerned about the horses and I just wanted to let you all know that they're safe. The fire out this way is headed in the opposite direction. Thank you for your kind thoughts and messages. My thoughts are with our friends in the hills. Stay safe everyone.

10.01.2022 Taking a moment to slow down (or stop as this article suggests) and take a moment for mindfulness and self compassion is a great way to restore some calm and clarity.

10.01.2022 Neil getting curious about the tiny person in his paddock

09.01.2022 Please help get this post to the women out there who might be looking for some extra support. The group is being held at my Salisbury office so there will be no horses but still a chance for people to connect and support each other!

08.01.2022 Introducing the herd - in order of appearance (in our family). Rommy Rommy is an 18 year old standardbred gelding who joined our herd around eight years ago. Rommy had some success as a pacer but was not cut out of a life of showing after racing, which saw him find his way to us. He is very people oriented and he often asks to be sprayed with the hose when filling up water troughs. If you would like to work with Rommy and the rest of the herd, give me a call and we can book you in for an equine assisted therapy session!

08.01.2022 All set up at Carnival in the North

07.01.2022 Hello from Arizona! First day of Equi-Lateral training today and now I'm more excited than ever to bring this back to Australia! I love it when things fall into place!

06.01.2022 Miss Marley ready and waiting to support our client this morning. Those ears were just made for listening

05.01.2022 My new indoor space is taking shape

05.01.2022 My indoor therapy space is really taking shape now

04.01.2022 For those who don't know we have relocated to Kangaroo Island. Today is the first stage of moving the herd over, I'm calling this phase: Operation Island Ponies. Exciting things to come!

03.01.2022 Derek and I will be at the Carnival in the North this year to spread the word about equine assisted therapy as well as my room based services in Salisbury. The theme is 'planting the seeds for good mental health' which is vital for all of us. If you're in the area come on down and say hello!

03.01.2022 I am lucky enough to be part of Brenda's team over at Equine Encounters Australia. A great article highlighting how equine assisted therapy is helping our returned veterans and their families. If you or someone you know is affected by post traumatic stress disorder or other anxiety or depression, equine assisted therapy could help.

03.01.2022 Boundaries are something that we frequently explore in our work with the horses. They are excellent models for boundary setting!

02.01.2022 I know horses are amazing but this is something else. I can only imagine the mischief Derek would get up to as a guide pony!

01.01.2022 Today is R U OK day. Check in with the people in your life and see how they're doing. And if you're not OK, please tell someone. It's OK not to be OK so please reach out to someone! This is for every day, not just today!
