23.01.2022 Thank you to all who applied for the Receptionist position. We have been successful in securing another superstar to join the EVDS team! We look forward to sharing what the EVDS team will look like for 2021! Stay tuned....

19.01.2022 Every now and then a dental case walks in that proves to be much more than just a dental! This Stockhorse mare came in for a dental and freeze brand but also the question of whether the lump on her shoulder should be investigated? It was not painful to press or squeeze and had been there for several years, as the previous owner had been advised that it was a cyst and probably not causing a problem, apart from cosmetics? As we dissected it out it became apparent that it w...as likely caused by a splinter and was causing a chronic abscess with the development of chondroids which are mineralised little balls of pus . They were able to ride the horse again within 3-5 weeks and they noticed immediate improvement in her movement at walk, trot and bending - in the paddock and under saddle, so it was a very satisfying case all around!

12.01.2022 Massive shout out to the Champion members of the EVDS team!!! Without this team, Oli is nothing, and how each member of the team has each other’s back when others are sick or away is amazing!!! Mel has held the fortress/office running while we were down on troops, and her persistence, resilience, calmness, efficiency is massive, amazing and greatly appreciated!!! ... With supernurse Imogen on the sidelines through injury, Elly was asked to step up this week and did so with efficiency, effectiveness, a big grin, energy and sense of positive humour! So much so that she’s clocked up 40 hours in 3 days, yet still is coming in tomoz to do some lab work!!! Then off to prepare her horses for the Maclean campdraft! Thank you Elly Shipman!!!

10.01.2022 It could be easy to complain about having to work on a Sunday, but when it’s helping broodmares to have a comfortable, healthy mouth , whilst they’re at EVDS getting pregnant, then it’s all worthwhile! So lucky to have 2 arms, 2 legs and able to work hard , plus be entrusted by great owners to care for their beloved horses! Feeling grateful!

04.01.2022 Progressive ethmoid haematomas are a not uncommon, benign tumor in horses that can cause recurring nose bleeds. They can be treated by surgical removal or by injecting them with dilute formalin. We did this today on my 27 yo Standardbred gelding Leroy - and he’ll be feeling better in no time, living the dream as a stable favourite at the Ballina RDA.
