08.01.2022 Change to Helmet Standards - just sharing some information on topic I am passionate about - helmet safety. As I distribute Troxel helmets that come from the USA I was aware in 2014 that changes to the helmet standards were coming and from my experience there has been silence on the topic here in Australia. EA have now announced the new standards and this is where many of us will be impacted. Due to the age of one of our Navy velvet helmets I decided I could not wait any longe...r on helmet standard changes and purchased a Charles Owen Fiona helmet in January, these helmets comply with EN/1384 the now outgoing standard and following the EA announcement will not be able to be used in 2017. I did seek to find a Navy velvet show helmet that also complied with one of the other standards but could not find one, the Charles Owen H2000 are expected to comply with the new standard but the response from Charles Owen was not clear on this. There are many helmets here in Aust that have only the EN/1384 standard, so if you are thinking about purchasing a new helmet you should consider the standard stamped on it. Retailers of helmets should be aware of this but may not disclose it to you. Here is some more info.
