25.01.2022 Our therapies will build on the stories of the animals that went to World War 1 Lest We Forget

24.01.2022 The primordial pouch is a loose flap of skin which runs along the length of the cat’s belly, but is most pronounced towards the rear. It can often be seen swayi...ng from side to side when the cat walks or trots. Pet owners often attribute the primordial pouch to weight gain, but it is common on cats of all shapes and sizes, even slim ones. The primordial pouch acts as a protection to the internal organs during a fight or attack. If you have ever seen cats in a fight, you may have noticed that they often kick each other with their hind legs and their sharp claws, which could potentially damage these vital organs. See more

24.01.2022 I love the fact you've put that story in about the worker that fell In 1989 I was learning Bowen... Russell Sturgess you were there... as Ossie spoke of the story of the man falling and injuring his back and Tom going over and helping him.... and the man saying that when Tom put his hands on the man's back he could feel like an arcing of electricity going across his spine.. and Ossie has always said that the Tom answered when asked where his knowledge and technique came from...... he said it was a gift from God .. this is the part of having Healing Hands... that Tom was able to unravel the body's secrets for healing.. this was the gift from God... having the intuition ...the perception and the ability to translate into a technique that we can all do I get very saddened when I hear so many people decry this part of the therapy ... for me it has always truly been a 'gift from God' ...that within a few moves can a life can be saved.. which I have been blessed to be a part of many times in both the human and the animal kingdom with Bowen as the vehicle of healing Teresa Strand... and acknowledging that while in my hands I have a gift from God..that of course there is a responsibility for me as a professional therapist and teacher to undertake much learning ...much understanding of how the body works... and I can explained to my clients what nerves are involved... what the muscles are doing ...why they are acting the way they are acting... and why this therapy, this wonderful Bowen can help... but often (with a prayer and an acknowledgement that this work is greater than me) ..that miracles do occur ....such as the little boy with the severe scoliosis who came to see me this week .... in one treatment his spine was all ready straightening ...the photos taken half hour apart.... now that is the miracle of Bowen ... I just give thanks... so many thanks that this gift of God has been made available to us all See more

11.01.2022 I am often asked to explain what Bowen therapy/ Equine Muscle Release therapy is and what it entails. So I've put this together. I hope it helps!! EMRT is b...ased on a very successful human therapy, which hails from Australia, known as the Bowen Technique. This technique was developed by the brilliant, late Tom Bowen and then developed to benefit horses and small animals by Alison Goward . Ali was the first person to use Bowen Therapy on her horses and spent many years developing and refining the practice before teaching it on. An EMRT treatment involves a series of gentle, non-invasive, rolling moves made at key points on the horse's body. ( sometimes likened to acupuncture without needles!) The sequence of moves creates a circuit within the body, which can free congestion and enhance circulatory and neural transmission throughout the body. EMRT is designed to put the body back in balance allowing the horse to achieve optimum health. Regular EMRT treatments could prevent imbalance from happening in the first place. These are just some of the issues EMRT practitioners can help with: Unexplained deterioration in performance Unexplained resistances Filled legs Irritability Stiffness on one rein/disunited paces Intermittent or unresolved lameness Lymphatic or lactic acid imbalance Uneven shoe wear, dragging of hind feet Uneven muscle development or muscle wastage TMJ problems and jaw misalignment Back pain Muscle pulls and strain Headaches ( yes horses do suffer from headaches too!) Compromised immune system. Anxiety and depression. How BOWEN and EMRT Work EMRT (Equine Muscle Release Therapy) and CCMRT(Cat and Canine Muscle Release Therapy) are the animal versions of Bowen therapy . They do not replace veterinary treatment but may be used alongside it for many musculo-skeletal, neurological issues and for relaxation. Bowen can be invaluable used in post operative care, rehabilitation, and for stress and behavioural issues. as it stimulates relaxation and a feeling of wellbeing. Bowen is a form of fascial release. Fascia is a thin membrane covering and connecting every tissue and system in the body and is normally loose, moist, supple and elastic enabling movement between body parts. When muscles, joints and tissues are under stress from injury, compensation or trauma, fascial tissue becomes stretched and inelastic causing incorrect alignment of muscles and bones. This results in restricted movement and reduced efficiency in all the surrounding tissues. The muscles tighten to protect the body and the surrounding fascia produces tough, inelastic fibres creating more stiffness, pain and restriction. Compensation patterns begin to develop as the body holds itself differently to avoid pain. The muscles can pull the skeleton out of line. These restrictions cause reduced blood, nutrient, oxygen, toxin and lymphatic flow which contributes greatly to susceptibility to injury, lameness, and cause immune system depletion often resulting in disease. By this time the animal is showing greater signs of pain, gait and behavioural problems and sometimes internal discomfort. . Horses and riders may be treated alongside each other. Any imbalance in the rider or horse will affect the movement of the combination. What happens during a treatment? First I will look at your horse both static and in movement to assess where an issue might be or be coming from. Photographs or video may be taken ( with your permission), in order that changes can be seen in later treatments. Any asymmetries or issues will be noted and you may be advised on specific rehabilitation techniques that you can use yourself after the treatment. Sessions take approximately an hour.. Regular breaks are taken between sets of moves. These allow the body to integrate and respond to treatment. Horses usually respond well, often relaxing very deeply during treatment and showing responses and releases in their bodies, such as increased blood flow, release of lympatic fluid, yawning, sighing and stretching. Normally, an initial course of 2-4 sessions are recommended, the first two being approximately a week apart. This allows the work to go deep into the body and keep working. Less is very often more in Bowen, and a short treatment can very often bring about many changes over the days and weeks following. After the initial 2 treatments, more may be indicated, but with a longer gap between. However if you would just like to give your horse a nice relaxing and stimulating reward for all his hard work, I am happy to treat on a one off basis. Any Bowen is better than none! Discounts are available for horse and rider combinations treated together and also for multiple horses treated at the same yard on the same day. Please feel free to PM me, Julie Dexter, or call on 07866 967282 for any more information. Please note; EMRT ( Equine Bowen) and CCMRT do not treat conditions or diseases. The body is treated as a WHOLE no matter what the diagnosis or symptoms, bringing it back into BALANCE and HOMEOSTASIS. It is extremely gentle and dynamically effective requiring no harsh manipulation, machines or drugs to work.

11.01.2022 R.I.P. H.R.H. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh...from all at Equus College of Learning & Research .. our sincere love ,respect and condolences to the Royal f...amily I feel maybe all of us loving horses in the Commonwealth, have lived all our lives with a feeling of connection through the horse to the familiar constancy of our royal family and their love of horses... this is the first change in that order, and so is felt so greatly, especially as he was a such friend of the horse ....Philip was a Great Horseman.... As a child I lived in Embrook, a village near Windsor and would watch the royal family riding their horses ...especially his daughter Princess Anne at our local gymkhanas... Later my Sister working for the Guards Polo Club Windsor, used to ride exercise the polo Ponies in Windsor Great Park In later years when I taught EMRT Equine Muscle Release Therapy in the UK (thanks to Sue Connolly ) our base was at the ILPH World Horse Welfare rescue centre ..that was patronaged by Prince Philip's daughter the Princess Royal ...such a sad day for our Queen to lose her consort, the love of her life.. 07.01.2022 Talking about growth plates and Bones growing and over riding young horses ...look at these xrays of pups... their bones don't even meet ...this is why it's so important not to let them jump up or off things can easily damaged the fragile tissues until the bony plates have met..

07.01.2022 Recently it was mentioned to me that there is interest in understanding exactly what I do in my life works! ONE of my passions is EMRT - Equine Muscle Release T...herapy - the bowen technique for horses. From my website - The difference between us requiring treatment and the horse is that she is unable to let you know in a language that we can understand, just exactly where the pain is, and how much it hurts. She may appear to be fine physically, but could start to act up as soon as that saddle is placed on her back, or the bit in her mouth. It sometimes takes that specifically trained eye, or hand, to pick up exactly what is happening, that otherwise wouldn't be noticed. HOW IT WORKS EMRT basically works through the body via the fascial and neural pathways transmitting messages from the body to the brain in order to commence the process of naturally bringing the body back into its natural state of balance, and ultimately promoting a return to health. It stimulates soft tissue, releases and separates muscular fibres, boosts hydration and the metabolic processes to all soft tissue within the physical body. It can initiate increased circulation and lymphatic flow; stimulate the central nervous system responses and works closely with the Traditional Chinese Medicine meridian and acupressure systems. HOW CAN THIS THERAPY HELP HORSES? The response to this treatment initiates an interaction of the body systems which can improve muscular range of motion and joint mobility, relieve acute and chronic musculo-skeletal pain, improve circulation and lymphatic drainage, eliminate toxins and strengthen the immune system, improve nutrient intake, increase the recovery time from Injury, illness and surgery and much more. Conditions that have responded well to EMRT : - Muscular atrophy - Not Tracking Up - Neck and Poll Restrictions (head shy, resistance or shaking) - Uneven Stride - Lacking Balance - General Soreness - Reluctance to Canter - Girthing Issues - Lameness - Cold back or sore back - Deterioration in performance or uncharacteristic change in temperament - Uneven wear of shoes - Hindquarter, Stifle or Shoulder stiffness - Lactic Acid retention Tomorrow I will share how this beautiful therapy can assist small animals. Have a wonderful SUNDAY <3

03.01.2022 Another wonderful result ...well done Amy

03.01.2022 Have you noticed that your cat has a saggy belly? Kitty hasn't eaten too many treats; it's actually a normal part of your cat's anatomy! The technical term for... this belly flap, which can often be seen swaying from side to side when a cat moves, is called the primordial pouch. This loose skin and padding at the belly provides extra protection for the abdominal area during fights when bunny kicking with their hind legs. It insulates and protects internal organs and allows a cat to store extra food in its belly. (Important for our ferals who sometimes go days without eating.) It also allows a cat freedom of movement to fully stretch and extend the back legs when running at high speed or jumping. Some people believe that spaying or neutering causes this primordial pouch. This is a myth. All felines, regardless of their size, shape, or sex have this extra flap of skin (including lions and tigers). Even cats who lose weight due to diet or illness still have these belly flaps. (Many thanks to My Feral Fix for sharing this information!) #TNR #spayandneuter #primordialpouch

03.01.2022 EQUUS COLLEGE STELLA ROSA AND SHELLY ... All babies born to us here are special Stella DalglishStella Rosa named after our Granddaughter is Frank's Favorite gi...rl - her movement is divine .. Shelly is so special - when her mum Suprise was due ( named Suprise! because she was literally rescued off the back of a dogger's truck with a broken neck ) i had to move Suprise into the foaling paddock - but i could not catch her....OMG i was so anxious ... and knew had had to get her into a safe place .2 hours later still hadnt been able to catch her - it was raining and getting dark ...in tears and despair ... i prayed ......and asked my beautiful glorious friend Michelle halliwell (who had tragically left this earth ) to come and help me.. - Shel had been in charge of foaling down at Shepperton repro centre so was the right Angel for the job - anyway 2 white fathers floated down beside me - Feathers are her sign ... I got up from the dirt ....and Suprise just gently came over to me!.and followed me into the foaling paddock .....of course when she was delivered the foal had to be called "Shelly" ... both she and Stel grew up to be beautiful big strong gentle soft mares and are part of the EMRT team teaching this wonderful therapy ... Shelly Fry (human) as she was known then.. was my first assistant in classes when I started EMRT horse owner courses 1993.. she was a legendary horse woman ...For years I treated her Zip to Win... Zippy-boy - he had HYPP and with the help of the therapy he won numerous titles ... one day Shel asked if Zip was her special horse ( most horse people will say they have one this is outstanding in their life ) ... i said no..he is so special but there is another coming .... well.... the little pally girl on the mags front cover was her "one" - her name - Finally Dunnit and that year.. wearing the number 99 ( co-incidentally-the end of a cycle) Shel finally did it winning the national reining - she was under Morpheine to be able to ride ... and passed not long after ..... she was an amazing a brave and beautiful friend... and a part of this EMRT work.... forever honoured in one of the EMRT course levels dedicated to her..... and of course through the horse that she helped to birth .."Andalusian Shelly " See more
