19.01.2022 2020 has been a year of change, and with change comes decisions. Some doors closed, others opened. For some clients, it has been survival and tenacity, for others re-evaluations, and others big shifts on the inner and outer realms. 2020 has pushed our buttons. Check out the website link in bio for more info on how Holistic Kinesiology can support your movement forward. #holistickinesiology #holistichealth #naturalhealth

18.01.2022 Spring is the time when our bodies start to warm up again, our metabolism shifts, and instinctively we start to become more active. In Chinese Medicine Five Element principles, Spring corresponds to supporting the Wood Element organs, the Liver and Gall Bladder. In our hectic world, our Liver needs a lot of support! Physically the Liver supports the nervous system, digestion, detoxification, muscles, joints, menstruation, and more. When our liver is sluggish, emotionally we... can be easily frustrated, angry, low in mood, or cranky. When balanced, we know our path, and move past obstacles. Spring is a good time to make an appointment to focus on enhancing the body’s natural detoxification channels through targeted nutrition and movement, to move beyond your frustrations, towards your goals! #spring #holistichealth #nutrition #chinesemedicinephilosophy #fiveelements

18.01.2022 Holism is the interconnectedness of all things. Holistic healing recognises ALL aspects that can and do affect our health: It is the microcosm of who we are: - body systems working in harmony such as nervous system, digestion, endocrine balance - our emotional and mental health, and - our spiritual and soul expansion....... Balanced with the macrocosm of: - our relationships - family, community - the Earth and natural world we inhabit. It recognises that an imbalance in one aspect can affect all others, and seeks to address the priority imbalance for you as an individual within each session. Fundamentally, it addresses the broadest perspective of who you are ... and may see you bigger than you see yourself sometimes #holistichealing #holism #bodymindsoul

13.01.2022 As a culture, we see being busy as being productive in the western world. It's noticeable in client's language in clinic, where there is a often a sense of guilt attached to rest! I am regularly explaining the physiological and psychological NEED for rest, and absolving the self-judgement around down time. It is absolutely vital. So much healing can occur on so many levels if it is "nourishing rest", when the body, mind and soul are supported. #rest #quiet #downtime #clarity #healing #naturalhealth #holistichealth

09.01.2022 How are you travelling? Holistic healthcare offers support for body, mind and soul, and is still available with the Stage 3 restrictions in regional Victoria. The clinic is continuing to abide by government and registration body rules- maintaining social distancing and hygiene standard for infection control. Masks are worn within treatments, by both practitioners and clients. Check out the website for more details on holistic health : https://www.ericahawkeykinesiology.com

08.01.2022 For Women's Health Week I want to show my gratitude to the courageous, kind and wise women who came before me, in my own family and beyond... women who I have been inspired by, who have shown up in the world as themselves, authentic and real. Women who have challenged the status quo, chosen self respect over suffering, and have stood up for what they believe in in the face of a world that isn't always as evolved as we'd like it to be. Women need to remind themselves that regular health and self care are not luxuries, they are essential. #womenshealth #holistichealth #feminismjustmeansrespect #selfcare

08.01.2022 Exercise is scientifically proven for feeling good! BUT..... some forms of exercise can negatively impact our wellbeing, and exacerbate certain health conditions. It's important to listen to your body. For some people, the wrong exercise choice for their consitution can aggravate anxiety, mood changes and lowered energy long term. For women especially, our energy levels are cyclic ... we are just not designed to go full pelt all the time! We all have different needs whe...n it comes to finding the best form of exercise that keeps us balanced. The right types of exercise for you should increase your vitality What works for us at one time may not be beneficial when our health or circumstances change. What works for your friend may not work for you, and vice versa. If in doubt, just start at a pace you can sustain regularly (For more info on the best forms of exercise for YOUR constitution, current state of health and goals, visit www.ericahawkeykinesiology.com or call 03/ 5442 9787) #kathandkim #noice #pumpandpilates #huffypuffy #exercise #wellbeing #naturalmedicine #holistichealth #nutrition

07.01.2022 It's Herbal Medicine Week, so here's the prepation of my herbal decoction prescribed by the lovely Kylie Freemantle at Bendigo Chinese Medicine , (the clinic I practised in before beginning private practice). I used to love dispensing the raw herbs in the clinic, seeing (and smelling) the actual components of the plant... roots, seeds, bark, leaves.... they are quite beautiful. Herbs are incredibly effective for supporting health (multiple pharmaceuticals were originally extracted from plants). A love of therapeautic botanicals has led to my current study in Naturopathy to further enhance clinical outcomes for my clients! #naturalhealth #holistichealth #chinesemedicine #herbalmedicine

06.01.2022 Did you know certain spices have a warming effect within the body? Enhancing digestion, circulation and decreasing stagnation of energy, they are beneficial to support the inner metabolic fires during cooler weather, until Spring warmth really hits. Think cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, fennel, black pepper and cardamom. Incorporate your favourites in a warm Chai, curry, stewed fruits, and the slow cooker. #foodismedicine #naturalhealing #nutrition

06.01.2022 Holistic healing means listening to our bodies and working with (not against) our deepest needs. In a world of media, distraction and hype, connecting with our body and its inner cues for rest, play, enhanced nutrition, creativity and emotional release can bring great peace. Erica is trained in biological sciences, advanced nutrition and eastern philosophies... and specialises in creating the space for you to deepen your connection with yourself and listen. For more information and bookings : https://www.ericahawkeykinesiology.com/ or phone 03/ 5442 9787.

05.01.2022 What you eat directly impacts how you feel. The compounds in the food itself are translated to your brain and impact it positively or negatively. Highly processed foods, refined sugars and the typical western diet negatively affects mood, brain health, cognition (and physical fitness!). For more information on how you can support mood and other aspects of your wellbeing, see website in bio! #foodmood #nutrition #holistichealth #mentalhealth #naturalhealth

04.01.2022 As usual, the clinic garden is going bananas over Spring... nearly every client has commented on this stunning Powton tree as they have walked in Transformed from the bare tree it was over winter #mothernature #spring #cycles

03.01.2022 THE HEALING POWER OF NATURE (VIS MEDICATRIX NATURAE) You could study the human body for a lifetime, and still never fully comprehend it. It's wisdom is incredible to me, and further compounds my belief in the vast power of Mother Nature. The therapeutic strategy within Holistic Health is to gently encourage the body to initiate its own self-healing mechanisms, while enhancing its vital force. Scientifically, this might be seen as supporting homeostasis, but we are working wi...thin the broader realms of body, mind and soul. The Healing power of nature is the inherent self-organising and healing process of living systems which establishes, maintains and restores health. Naturopathic Medicine recognises this healing process to be ordered and intelligent. It is the naturopathic physician’s role to support, facilitate and augment this process by identifying and removing obstacles to health and recovery, and by supporting the creation of a healthy internal and external environment. 03.01.2022 Imagine.... feeling calm and supported from within, knowing this deep foundation of support is there for you to fall back on any time you need it? This feeling is available through the balance of our nervous system. This peaceful state is our rest/heal/digest (parasympathetic) division of the nervous system, and it is how we are meant to live most of the time, drawing on the stress/fight/flight division (sympathetic) only as needed, then coming back to rest again. In parasymp...athetic our breath calms, our heart rate gently slows, our digestion strengthens and our body rebalances. We have the capacity to listen - really listen - to ourselves and others, and feel deeply connected from a heart space, rather than the mind. We have the capacity to feel fulfillment in daily activities, from the calm space of a supported nervous system. ALL healing occurs in the parasympathetic state: healthy digestion, weight loss, detoxification, cellular rejuvenation, body repair AND emotional processing and healing. The nervous system has physical, nutritional, and lifestyle needs to function effectively. Unfortunately, our foods and lifestyles are often inadequate, and we start to experience the effects on our mind, mood and body. Erica specialises in nervous system support, trained to recognise the physical/mental/emotional symptoms that give indications of what your individual needs are. With a background studying biological and psychological sciences at Melbourne University, a Diploma of Health Sciences in Holistic Kinesiology, an Advanced Cert. in Nutrition and Exercise Therapy for Stress, Anxiety and Depression and 16 years clinical and teaching experience in both Melbourne and Bendigo, she gives holistic, evidence based support. Treatments connect intuitively to the body, mind and soul, whilst maintaining a solid scientific framework. 02.01.2022 It's been "next level" on the nerd-o-meter! After 16 years of clinical practice supporting patients with holistic treatments, it's clear a "whole body" approach to mental health and emotional wellbeing is imperative. Intuitive emotional healing is still a BIG part of treatment... reading your body is vital. But now we have nutrition coaching, AND continued studies in Naturopathy and Nutritional Medicine, gaining even more insights into the biochemistry of the body, and th...e many reasons WHY. I love helping clients understand "why". Super geeky. (I'm SO not reciting these pathways back to you verbatim, by the way...) #holistichealth #naturalhealth #nutrition #mentalhealth #mood #supergeek

02.01.2022 Happy Summer The clinic will be closed this week while renovations take place, with hours returning to normal next week (Tues Jan 22). All enquiries will be addressed on our return. Thanks for your patience
