23.01.2022 Take a minute to breathe and gently move before you stand up. And move often, friends. That feeling of being stuck is often a reflection of how little we’ve moved in the previous hour(S). Your brain is like ‘what the heck is going on down there?’ And so, without good information (which comes from movement) we get tension (this is on purpose- clever brain).... So breathe and move and send some information to that beautiful brain of yours first. Want more yoga you can do at your desk? Head to the link in the comments for The Computer Body Reset - 5 minutes of yoga you can do at your desk (no fancy clothes or yoga mat required).

21.01.2022 I mean ... 2020 is a pretty good year to dive deep into our stress-resilience, right? My guest today is stress-resilience coach, Jessica Patching-Bunch - who is on a mission to provide accessible alternative mindcare for women. Translation: She teaches practical approaches to managing stress so you can get out of your own way and create your best life. In our chat, Jess shares:... - her own experiences with trauma, stress and loss - the stress-resilience practices she uses and teaches - that the resources we need are within ourselves - we just need to learn to use them - that stress is a normal, expected human experience but that doesn't mean we have to let it 'overwhelm' us - we can learn to manage it - the importance of the breath, mindset and movement in stress-resilience - what 'intentional stress' is and how it can help (cold shower, anyone?!) - why these practices are simple but often not easy (and her own way of staying on track when it feels hard). Link to listen is in my bio or find The Movement and Mindfulness Podcast wherever you find your favourites.

21.01.2022 Tension is a message from your body, just like the urge to pee or feeling cold or thirsty ... but it’s a message we’ve learned to ignore. So ... are you listening?

20.01.2022 What an absolute pleasure it was to chat with @sonia_clark_lbe on her podcast - Prosper with Sonia Clark. Thanks so much for having me to share all about why moving well and with kindness is so valuable for entrepreneurs and business owners. I just listened in and this episode really gives a lovely overview of what I do and why. Tune in via the link in Sonia’s bio (tagged in the photo to make it ultra easy).

20.01.2022 Right now you’re likely seeing lots of ads and things claiming to be the BEST way to achieve x or y goal. And I just want to remind you of something: there is no ONE right way. Some people will suggest that the ‘way’ is yoga, others will say it’s running or dancing or meditation or weights.... As humans we want there to be a simple ‘do this and all will be well’ approach. But I truly don’t think that exists. Instead, see all of these offerings as options. Some will work for you right now, others won’t. Some will appeal to you, others won’t. AND THAT’S OK! Just don’t let other people’s claims about what is ‘best’ make you ‘should’ all over yourself. Just because your best friend runs and thinks you should too, doesn’t mean that’s YOUR best choice. Just because I’m touting yoga and Somatics, doesn’t mean they’re the ONLY options. There are SO many options for moving your body, managing stress and caring for yourself. Don’t let picking what those will be ADD to your stress! This constant ‘shoulding’ and negative self talk that revolves around ‘I really should do xyz’ or ‘I’m so bad because I haven’t ____’ do NOTHING positive for our well-being. Instead they often lead us to choosing to do nothing at all.

20.01.2022 I bang on about self-kindness all the time. But let me be clear: self kindness is NOT the same as the path of least resistance. Choosing the thing that is kind isn’t always easy. Often it’s really not. The easy option is the default option - and THAT is the very thing that has gotten you HERE. ... And the default option is easy because it’s habitual and efficient - things your brain loves (so it’s not a ‘failing’ on your part - just a part of being human ). No we don’t shame or punish ourselves into doing what we know is ‘good for us’ ... we move in the direction of kindness with self-compassion. And we do so Knowing that it won’t necessarily be with the ease of a hot knife through butter, but that it will be worth it. This line is a tricky one and I get that. Self kindness through this lense can masquerade as punishment and we want to kick that punishment to the curb. No shame, no horrible self talk ... but at the same time a recognition that showing up for yourself IS the secret you’ve been searching for. Sure it would be awesome to find out that the secret was actually just buying the ‘right’ class or signing up with the best teacher, but even the best teacher can’t help you if you don’t commit to showing up for yourself. Self integrity is where it’s at, even on the yoga mat. I say this to myself as much as you - this stuff is an ongoing commitment to choosing kindness every day - in your movement and in the way you talk to yourself. Thanks for the chat today @sarahdenholmconfidence - loved talking about this and so much more (Thursday’s podcast is gooooood ... stay tuned!).

19.01.2022 Want some simple movements you can do at your desk to relieve tension? Movement does not have to be complicated or require you to change into your active wear or unroll your yoga mat. Moving well - often - is about learning to be responsive to your body’s needs - especially when you’re behind the desk for hours on end.... Head to the link in my bio for this quick video that you can do right now at your desk. Enjoy!!

19.01.2022 One of the factors that I think is huge in moving well is moving beyond our movement habits. By their very nature, movement habits are automatic and often quite subconscious. And in my experience, one that many of us have (on the yoga mat and off) is doing back bends when we don’t really intend to. And when we back bend when we don’t mean to? Hello, tension.... This little play on chair pose helps us to feel into this and create more options. And options are an amazing thing. Because when we increase our movement options we feel more robust and resilient. Start small with just a little rounding through the back, focusing on exploring the difference in how it *feels* between rounding and then finding the ‘stacking’ of the rib cage and pelvis. My favourite way to explore this stacking is to imagine your ribcage as a downward facing bowl and your pelvis as an upward facing bowl. Then, you’re just thinking about stacking those bowl faces to ‘look’ at each other. And remember to really connect down through your feet. Want more sustainable ways to move well and reduce tension? The full body reset 8 week program starts on Monday 19th Oct. Head to www.ericawebbyoga.com.au/jointhefullbodyreset for more information. Registration closes on Thursday 15th. Tried it? Questions? Let me know!

19.01.2022 When we ride the same movement tracks for decades, it’s no wonder we start to feel tense and sore. One day we decide ‘my body doesn’t do that’ and our options get smaller and smaller. That’s part of a mindful yoga and somatics practice - uncovering all those movement possibilities that have been temporarily forgotten. ... It doesn’t mean complicated. It doesn’t mean hard. It sure as heck doesn’t have to be fancy. And it shouldn’t hurt. Yes, it might be confusing sometimes, and unfamiliar. But it’s so very worth it. Want support yo move well and with kindness to help you feel well? Click the link in my bio for free classes and to find out more about working with me.

19.01.2022 I truly believe that when we feel well, we have more capacity to do well. We increase our ability to be and do the things we desire in the world. That’s why I’ve built charitable giving into the very fabric of Erica Webb Yoga & Pilates. 5% of all revenue is gifted each quarter to a cause that I believe in. This quarter I donated to @indigenousliteracyfoundation ... Go check out the incredible work they do. When you’re a member of The Mindful Movement Virtual Student (or work with me 1-1) you know that 5% of your fees go to a great cause. Not a bad feeling, hey! You get kind and gentle Yoga, Pilates and somatic exercise at your fingertips AND you give back in the process. I call that win win.

18.01.2022 Tension. We all feel it. But what are some of the keys to moving well and in a way that helps us to reduce that tension? I'm sharing a few simple tips.

18.01.2022 Do you put off doing yoga, Pilates or exercise because you need to wait til you have the time? Ever sit there at your desk thinking you really NEED that class but your calendar tells you you simply don’t have the space? Wellll ... I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t have to take 30 or 60 minutes to start feeling less tension and more ease. Truly.... You, at your desk, 5 minutes ... it really can make a difference. I’ve put together a video for you with 3 of my fave movements you can do right there at your desk to experience more ease - right now. Just head to the link in my bio to grab it. And now I’m off to teach some 15 minute movement sessions, because we can do a heck of a lot for ourselves in 15 minutes.

17.01.2022 Self care can feel selfish. I get it. I still struggle at times to prioritise my well-being (the culture of pushing and striving is deeply ingrained). But here’s the truth: our self-care practices are good for us and the world. From the microcosm of your family and partner and friends, to a much bigger scale that perhaps we can’t ever fully appreciate, our self-kindness has a ripple effect in the world. That’s why I’ve built charitable giving into the very fabric of who we ar...e and what we do here. Every quarter, 5% of membership and private class fees are donated to an organisation doing good in the world. Today I donated to Asylum Seeker Resource Centre Asylum Seeker Resource Centre (ASRC) (click on the tag to read more about the amazing work they do). Thank you to all the wonderful people I have the joy of supporting in moving well who made this possible. I see you, I am grateful for you. Keep being kind to your amazing self and let’s change the world together.

16.01.2022 Tight hips? We often spend so much time stretching with very little relief. This little movement can be done on its own as a movement snack, or as part of a longer session (we did a bunch of other hip-focused movements in this morning’s class inside The Mindful Movement Virtual Studio). How can this help tight hips if we’re not doing a bunch of stretching?... it improves our brain-body connection (this is a huge deal when you consider the nervous system’s role in movement). it encourages muscular activation around the hip joint (both the front and the back) which can in and of itself improve the ‘tight’ feeling that often leads us to want to stretch in the first place. Want to know more about why the above can help you reduce tension? Grab the replay to my free workshop - Stretching but still tense? - to find out more. You’ll find the link in the comments. Tried it? Questions? Let me know!

15.01.2022 On Saturday, when I put on shorts for the first time in a long time, I was confronted by the fact that 'flaw'-picking started immediately. And it got me thinking about how - STILL - we're bombarded by messages of our 'not-enough-ness' and how we can use movement and exercise to 'fix' them. But how about we flip that script and we move as an act of kindness? ... We exercise and move our body not as a way of working on these supposed 'flaws' but instead to celebrate and fall in love with our body. How does that sound? Tune in to find out more, then come share your thoughts with me. I'd love to hear from you. Link to listen is in my bio or find The Movement and Mindfulness Podcast wherever you listen to your favourites.

14.01.2022 This was good for the soul.

14.01.2022 How’s your to do list looking? Feeling overwhelmed about how to fit it all in? How to balance the things you think you NEED to do with the things you WANT? When it comes to fitting in yoga (or any kind of movement or self care practice) it can be one of the last things we try to slot in amongst everything else. And so ... it’s often the first thing to go when life gets busy. Buuuut, it’s often these very practices that keep us functioning and feeling better in our own skin. ...So finding a way to make them an integrated part of our life is important. Here are 3 questions to ask yourself: 1. What are my beliefs around what my practice should look like? Where did they come from? Got it in your head that your practice has to take an hour and happen at dawn in a candle-lit serene space? All these beliefs about what it SHOULD look like really get in the way of thinking about what it COULD look like. Setting those beliefs aside and considering other ways is a great first step. 2. How do I want to feel? Want to feel calmer? Less tense? Stronger? Understand what you’re moving TOWARD and you’re halfway there. Understanding this replaces reliance on the myth of motivation. 3. How can I make it EASIER for myself? We don’t ask this question often enough. Would a 5 minute practice make it easier? Getting a coach or mentor? An accountability buddy? A yoga-buddy? Stop looking for ways to make it more complicated and give yourself permission to make it EASIER. (A reminder that the doors to The Mindful Movement Virtual Studio are open this week only. Join me inside for movement classes to help you feel good while treating yourself with kindness. Movement to fit in with YOUR life so you can live it to the full. 13.01.2022 Today my babies went back to school for the first time in goodness knows how long. A combination of excitement and nerves for all of us. Could not be prouder of my little guys taking themselves off to see their teachers and friends. Emmet, our dog, is feeling at a loose end without his best buddies. I am too. It’s a weird feeling of missing them and feeling so grateful for the focused time to work and do the things that have been a juggling act for months now.... Grateful that today is also the #herbusinesslive2020 conference as it’s the perfect cup-filler for me and an absolute joy to listen to amazing speakers like @stumclaren @candacedagnolo and, of course, the one and only @herbusiness Suzi Dafnis. Surround yourself with amazing people in life. We need these connections now more than ever - even if they do have to happen online! And thanks for the cookie, HerBusiness. Always the way to my heart

13.01.2022 We don’t do yoga to do yoga. We do it because of the way we believe it will make us feel. Perhaps for you it’s calm or strong or capable or flexible. ... Whatever it is, it’s the feeling that we’re after because when we feel those ways, we’re more capable of showing up in the world in the ways we want, for the things that matter to us most. I move well and practice mindfulness because it helps me to feel strong and capable and calm. It means that because I’m not riddled with constant tension, I’m able to turn my attention elsewhere - to the things that matter to me. I’m not looking to shut off from the realities of life - I’m supporting myself with tools to be able to navigate them with just a little more ease. So often we think we don’t have the ‘time’ for these things. Yoga, mindfulness, self care become the extras that never make it to the top of the priority list. But what if the truth is that by engaging in practices that support us to feel well, we actual expand our capacity, not take from it? Something to think about, for sure. - I’d love to support you to move well and feel well. Head to the link in my bio to find out more about The Mindful Movement Virtual Studio (as well as links to some free sessions)

13.01.2022 This is doable. You can live with more ease and less tension. But you won’t get there by making your body the enemy. Thoughts? Questions? Let me know!

12.01.2022 There’s no particular movement practice you *should* do. There’s just the one(S) that support you to feel the way you want to feel so you can be and do the things you desire. Creating something that is practical (fits in with your life), sustainable (that you can keep doing beyond that first week of inspiration), and do-able (ie realistic - not aiming for an hour if you know you can only show up for 20) is the goal. Focus on how it makes you feel. It’s always your best guide.... We’re bombarded by information that tells us THIS is the program you need or that THAT is the answer to everything. But there is no ONE right thing for EVERYONE on this beautiful planet. So do what feels good for you and that supports you to be you and show up in this world in the ways that you want.

12.01.2022 Last night I went sprinting. Not a leisurely jog or a brisk run - a flipping sprint. A lung-searing, screaming-after-a-runaway-dog, heart-thumping sprint. I don’t know how long or how far it really was, but when it was over (and that cheeky runaway was in my arms), in came a flood of thoughts including all the... ‘oh my god, I’m not as fit as I thought’ ones. The cruel ones that saw lack as the default. But here’s the real truth: my body is flippin’ incredible. It allowed me to sprint, despite no training for that. It pumped those legs, that heart; it fully supported me in my mission of pursuit! Those thoughts of not-enough-ness pop up for everyone. But we get to choose if we’re going to buy into them or choose something kinder. Choose kind. It makes a world of difference. *** (And a reminder that I’m here to support you in the pursuit for self kindness through movement - no sprinting required! Join me in The Mindful Movement Virtual Studio by Fri 4th Dec to go into the draw for a complimentary 60 min 1-1 session with me! At just $37 per month you get access to bunches of pre-recorded and live classes that support you to move well and with kindness. Link to more in the comments.)

12.01.2022 On the Podcast today! It's the end of a year and the beginning of a new one. Perhaps 'move more' or 'start yoga' is on your list of new year resolutions? Or finding ways to more effectively manage life's stress and overwhelm? ... This chat with Occupational Therapist and Life & Mindfulness Coach Simone Russell is perfect for this transition. In our chat, we talk about how we can use a mindful movement practice to help manage stress and overwhelm, as well as really practical ideas to help you set those new habits in place. Find out why understanding your values is so important in developing a movement habit; why finding the ‘path of least resistance’ is a good idea; why ‘could’ might be a better option than ‘should’; and the power of choice. Plus, we look at why relying on motivation might not get you where you want to go, and how ‘dangling the carrot’ could work more effectively. I adore Simone and am thrilled to share this episode with you! Link to listen in bio or find The Movement and Mindfulness Podcast wherever you find your favourites.

11.01.2022 Somewhere along the line we stopped hearing the ‘move’ signals from our body and we started experiencing them as our body being faulty or ‘against us’. How do you reconnect, start to listen and be responsive to your body? Your body is not your enemy (though I understand how it feels when you believe that to be true). Self-Kindness will always get you further than being in an adversary relationship with yourself.... Not sure where to start? Head to the link in the comments for various free classes you can try. Get in touch if you have questions. I’m here to help!

11.01.2022 Sound the celebratory horn! Today I donated 5% of all member and course fees paid in July-September to @blackdoginst Building charitable giving into the very fibre of what I do as a business was so important to me. That’s why each quarter I pay 5% of all member and course fees to a charitable organisation doing good in this world. Huge shout out to @blackdoginst for the work they’re doing to create a mentally healthier world for everyone.... We change the world when we move well and feel well. And this just goes that little step further. Thank you to every single member of The Mindful Movement Virtual Studio for making this possible. (You can find out more about joining us via the link in my bio).

10.01.2022 So honoured to be a guest on my friend @jordanaedelstein podcast The Movement Diaries! Link to listen in Jordana’s bio. This conversation was so much fun.

10.01.2022 Boundaries. Do you have them? How do you know if you need them? How the heck do you set them? Well, my friends, Claire Nettley is here to share all of this and more in this episode of The Movement and Mindfulness Podcast. Claire is a Boundaries & Mindful Living Coach who empowers women to develop more autonomy and authority in their lives.... She works with burned out, stressed out, over-worked and under-appreciated women looking to reclaim their sense of self. Claire’s clients are the nice girls, people-pleasers, rescuers and fixers who struggle to say no and run themselves into the ground. She helps her clients to find their 'no', develop healthy conflict resolution skills and overcome guilt and resentment. In our chat we're talking all things boundaries, including: - what led Claire to this work and how it changed her relationship with herself and with others. - what boundaries actually are and how we can identify when we need them AND when they've been crossed. - the different types of boundaries - including those with ourselves, with how we treat others, and with how we let others treat us. - the importance of language when it comes to communicating our boundaries. - how to set boundaries and practice maintaining them (as well as knowing when to bend them). Tune in via the link in the comments or find The Movement and Mindfulness Podcast wherever you find your favourites. @claire_nettley

09.01.2022 Let's talk about how our mindful movement practice can start to follow us OFF the mat and into the world. In this episode I want to talk about one thing in particular - and that's this idea of self-kindness in the face of less-than-perfect reactions to circumstances. It is possible for us to choose to meet ourselves with kindness even when that feels like the last thing we want to do. And the outcome can be profound. I encourage everyone to play with the ideas of self-kindnes...s, compassion and curiosity on the yoga mat: allowing ourselves to be present with what IS in any given moment and to commit to responding to that with kindness. The yoga mat provides a lovely little training ground to play with these ideas and, inevitably, they will start to follow us off of the mat and into the world. We're not aiming for perfection here. Not at all. What we're aiming for is the capacity to meet ourselves with kindness and compassion in the face of our human imperfection. Tune in to find out more! Link to listen is in the comments or find The Movement and Mindfulness Podcast wherever you find your favourites.

09.01.2022 It may feel hard to reconcile, but your body isn’t just being a jerk. That tension is a direct response that demonstrates your body is trying to support you. Tension can be likened to a hunger signal - it’s your body’s way of asking for movement. Often times when we move more and introduce more control, variability, strength and mobility, the tension doesn’t hang around because that signal isn’t required.... Yet, when we feel tense, movement isn’t often the first thing we think of. In fact, we often do the opposite. We move less and less and our body talks more and more loudly. I think a huge piece of the ‘reducing chronic tension’ puzzle is in recognising that your body is your ally, not your enemy. When we can see it with kindness and compassion and respond through that lens? Well, that right there is a pretty phenomenal combination for positive things to happen.

08.01.2022 On Monday 19th October we kick off with my brand new 8 week course - The Full Body Reset! Wondering if this course is right for you? Over the 8 weeks we’ll work progressively to cultivate physical ease and then layer in gentle strength building and flexibility/mobility practices.... This is for you if you’re spending hours at the computer and finding the tension challenging to shift. This is for you if you’re ready to commit to moving well and feeling well. The program is gentle but effective and pulls from the best of yoga, Pilates and somatic exercise. All of it is underpinned with self-kindness and cleverly working with the nervous system to create felt, sustainable results. I’d love to welcome you inside! Find the link in the comments for more information and feel free to reach out with any questions you might have. Over these 8 weeks you’ll learn a lot about your body and how to move well to feel well. Will I see you there? (Oh and it’s worth mention that this course is being delivered 100% online).

08.01.2022 When we strive for perfection on the yoga mat (or off) we beat ourselves up with guilt and shame when we don’t meet those lofty expectations. Can self-kindness be the guiding force instead? I faced a few challenges this week and my first response in noticing my reaction was a desire to be ‘better’ (I.e. guilt and shame). I made a conscious choice to instead meet myself with kindness and choose from that place.... Self-kindness doesn’t mean being complacent or not striving for things that matter to us. It doesn’t mean we never look at things and decide they need to be different. It simply invites us to look at ourselves with honesty and compassion and meet ourselves with kindness as we navigate our human imperfections. This way of relating to ourselves gives us space - whether it’s in navigating how we move and explore our physical body on the mat, or navigating our emotional selves. Our default is often NOT kindness. It takes effort to choose it. But it’s effort well spent.

07.01.2022 Tension. What’s your relationship with it? Is it simply a nuisance you could do without? If that’s your thinking, I invite you to change the script! I’m talking here about ordinary tension, not injury. Injury obviously comes with its own challenges. But when we’re talking about regular tension from sitting at the computer or doing one thing for a long time, then yeah, let’s change that script.... Your brain is a black box that NEEDS movement from your body to get a picture of what’s going on. Just like your body will let you know when you need to refuel with food and water, it also lets you know when you need to MOVE. It’s clever like that.

06.01.2022 Someone asked me yesterday what the benefits of yoga, Pilates and somatics are. And I hesitated before I answered. Yes, they can make you stronger, more flexible, more mobile. They open up varied movement options and opportunities. They deepen your brain-body connection. But that isn’t really why we do it.... The real benefit is in the way our movement and mindfulness practices support us to feel well (or simply better). Because we’re all just trying to navigate this human life. And that’s easier when we feel capable in our body. It’s easier when we’re not riddled with tension or don’t have any tools to manage our relationship with stress. We want to be and do stuff - whether it’s rolling around on the floor with our kids, building a business or a house or going on adventures, or helping other people. THIS is the benefit of moving well. All this ‘doing life’ stuff. So that’s what I told her. Yes, I can help you with flexibility and strength and shifting tension. Of course. But let’s do that so you can live your life with more confidence, yeah? What are your reasons for wanting to feel strong and capable? I’d love to hear! Drop me a comment or send me a DM. Maybe it’s a big dream to build something from your imagination or to have the energy and patience to play monopoly with your kids... I’d love to know!

06.01.2022 Here’s a fun little throwback! This is me at about 11 years old. I was a winner in a drawing competition that I was DESPERATE to win, because winning meant going on TELEVISION which was my childhood dream. It is still one of my favourite memories - being picked up in a limo and driven to the studio, sitting in front of the cameras and lights (and then freezing up when I was asked a question). Ahhh, the memories.... My childhood dream was to be an actress and a writer. At that point yoga wasn’t even on my radar What were some of your childhood dreams?

05.01.2022 Back sore after doing core exercises? You might be focusing on the wrong thing ...

05.01.2022 What's the difference between movement and exercise and why should we care? And for that matter, does it really matter if we enjoy the way we move and exercise? What does it look like to 'punish' ourselves with exercise? And how can we find pleasure in it instead? ... These questions and more are what I'm chatting with my guest, Jordana Edelstein, about today! @jordanaedelstein A movement coach and lover of all things science at heart, Jordana Edelstein believes you never have to suffer through exercise again. She'll help you discover a joyful, challenging, sustainable approach to movement and exercise that teaches the tools to build physical strength, a confident mindset and the freedom to live with ease. When not coaching, you'll find Jordana walking the streets of Westfield NJ with her family or while listening to a podcast about her other love, interior design. I loved chatting with Jordana. She's all kinds of wonderful. Enjoy. You’ll find the link to listen in the comments or find The Movement And Mindfulness Podcast wherever you listen to your favourites.

04.01.2022 My two besties and I talk a lot about skincare. Like, a lot. We love it. We talk about the products we love and why, and those other ones that don’t work for whatever reason (that smell, perhaps?) And no, this isn’t a post about skincare - obviously. But I want to point out one thing: The products I love and adore are not always loved and adored by my besties. In fact, one of them truly dislikes the fragrance of my all-time favourite eye oil. What causes her to turn her nose... totally floats my boat. Is one of us right and one of us wrong? Of course not! And that, right there, is the point of this post. There are thousands of skincare products in the world, thousands of yoga teachers and styles, gazillions of people ready to tell you what that ONE magical thing you need is, or to tell you all the reasons why they know the RIGHT way (and, sorry to say, but that means you’ve always been doing it wrong ...) The suggestion that there’s one right way or one right ‘thing’ is pretty crazy. Unless we’re talking about which way to put the toilet paper on the holder. I mean, really. So if we’re not spending all our time looking for that golden bullet, what could we be doing instead? Cultivating our capacity to listen to ourselves. To truly notice how we feel, what we need and what feels right. As a teacher I don’t fit any kind of cookie-cutter description, and sometimes I feel weird about it (like what does this woman actually teach, people?!). But here’s the thing: yes, I think my way of teaching is one really good way for people to move. Is it the only good way? Of course not! It’s one of lots and lots of good ways. And this is the joy and the dilemma - we simply can’t place our bets on that one right way of moving or meditating or looking after ourselves showing up in an ad on social media. What we can do, though, is get better and better at listening to ourselves. So that we can get better and better at choosing in the direction of self-kindness. Then, even when one of your besties isn’t a fan of your eye oil, you can trust that her choice isn’t better ... it’s just better for her, you know?

04.01.2022 Ok, let's chat about something that could really change the game for you when it comes to MORE moments of self-kindness. That thing is CELEBRATING rather than NEGATING. As humans, we have a tendency to focus on all the things we didn't do, or all the ways we fall short of our own expectations. ... Maybe we did one movement class this week when we promised we'd do three. Or we only spent two minutes in meditation when we planned for 20. Or whatever the thing is for you. The problem with this is that when we NEGATE what we have done and only look at where we fell short, we miss out on the opportunity to CELEBRATE what we did do. Tiny or not, whenever you choose in the direction of self-kindness, it's worth a celebration. Did 30 seconds of conscious breathing? Celebrate. Rolled your shoulders when you were feeling tense? Celebrate. Spent five minutes doing some yoga? Celebrate. No you don't have to throw a party each time, but talk nice to yourself, acknowledge the positive act. You might be surprised by how powerful that is. When we celebrate we have this moment of feeling success. We feel good about ourselves. And when that happens, we want more. So we do it again. And again. And again. When we negate and simply dismiss these small wins because they weren't enough? We punish ourselves. And since when did that motivate us? 04.01.2022 Sometimes just showing up on your mat and being there is enough. Your practice doesn’t have to be fancy or perfectly sequenced. It doesn’t have to ‘look’ like anything in particular. It simply exists to meet you where you’re at and support you to be and do all the things you desire. Show up for yourself. Change the world. Big statement but it’s true. Even when your practice is imperfect. Simply make it kind.

03.01.2022 Simplicity. It's so easily dismissed because, well, it's so ... simple. But I truly believe that simplicity holds some pretty profound wisdom. So let's not dismiss simplicity, let's revisit it and welcome it. Tune in to hear more! 03.01.2022 Listen to my clever friend @jpb_coaching talk to us about stress resilience. We can actually use things that intentionally stress our system (Jess uses the example of a cold shower) to build our capacity to manage it. We know life involves stress (do we ever ...). Eliminating stress is not the goal. Getting more skilled at managing it is. Tune in to The Movement and Mindfulness Podcast to hear more. 02.01.2022 Confidence. What really is it? How can we get more of it? And is it a fixed trait or something we can train? Well ... we're diving into all of this and more with today's guest - confidence coach, Sarah Denholm. Over the past 12 years Sarah has helped thousands of people to increase their influence and impact when communicating with others - whether it be on stage in front of a sea of faces or in more private conversations. So what does it take to develop the confidence to sp...eak with clarity and intention? And why is self worth SO important? In our conversation Sarah talks about: - the incredible transformation that led her to sharing this work with others. From years struggling with anxiety and speaking in public to teaching others the confidence to share their voice - her experiences are remarkable. - why self-worth is so important, along with expecting a positive outcome and 'inhabiting' our body. - the difference between confidence and courage and why we need both. - what it means to 'find' our voice. - how to turn around our negative self-talk. Sarah also shares practical tips for us to implement - whether you're looking for more confidence in sharing your voice with a crowd or with your friends and family. 01.01.2022 I have been feeling funky today. Not cool, groovy funky (am I showing my age with those word choices?!) but kinda weird and unsettled funky. As you hopefully know by now, im all about inner listening - tuning in to notice what you need, rather than going for a cookie cutter approach. ... There is no one movement that fits everyone’s needs all of the time. Depending on how we’re feeling, sometimes we need to roll around on the floor, or lay down and breathe, or go for a run ... This particular movement (that we did in our livestream class today inside The Mindful Movement Virtual Studio) was a very effective funk-detangler Focus, challenge, strength ... this combo can be a great one when you have some nervous energy and feel a little agitated. Why? Because it’s hard to focus on anything else when you’re balancing and breathing. Focusing our attention. It’s a pretty miraculous thing. Just be sure to choose kindness toward yourself. Kindness and compassion. Always. Tried it? Questions? Let me know!

01.01.2022 Curious about classes? Here’s a peek inside. And I’m always here for questions. Join unlimited livestream classes or do classes on-demand literally any time, any where. Plus ... support.
