25.01.2022 What a delightful start to our Friday morning! Adorable Arlo and Lovely Luna dropped by for their second puppy vaccination. These cuties are siblings from the same litter. In a truly wonderful coincidence their new families (who have never met) just happened to book them into our clinic for the same time on the same day! They loved seeing each other again Wishing you all a magical weekend
25.01.2022 Its our favorite time of the year! Time to collect photos of our wonderful patients who would like the opportunity to appear in our clinic calendar Please email photos to the clinic - [email protected] and send them as a JPEG file to ensure clarity. We are looking for photos with minimal background and no people, just our beautiful patients. All photos to be considered must be received by the Monday 30th November 2020. Thank you all, happy snapping

24.01.2022 The staff at Eric Broad Veterinary Surgery wish all our amazing clients a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. This has been a tough year for everyone, it’s been amazing to see the resilience and humour with which staff and clients adapted to new protocols in an ever-changing environment. We know that there are members of our wider ‘Eric Broad’ family who are experiencing a vastly different Christmas than they had planned. May love and laughter light your days, and warm ...your heart and home. May good and faithful friends be yours, wherever you may roam. May peace and plenty bless your world with joy that long endures. May all life’s passing seasons bring the best to you and yours! (Irish Blessing) We wish you all the very best
24.01.2022 Vaccinations are important to protect your much-loved pet from a range of infectious diseases, but how do they work? The vaccination is a preparation containing a killed or altered version of the disease-causing microorganism, these are called antigens. The vaccine stimulates the immune system to recognise the antigen and to build specific antibodies for defeating the microorganism. The immune system has memory so that future exposure to the same disease-causing antigen resul...ts in a rapid response preventing serious disease in the animal. The immune memory can fade with time, we refresh this memory with booster vaccinations timed according to the specific disease. Our pets are unique individuals, so the best plan is to take your pet to the vet and have a vaccination protocol prescribed that caters to your pets’ specific requirements. Lovely Tillee wishes everyone a Happy Friday! See more
21.01.2022 Its beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! We will be closed from 4pm today for our Staff Christmas event. Open tomorrow for our usual Saturday hours
21.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE At 'Eric Broad Vet Surgery' we are committed to keeping our doors open and providing our excellent standard of care to your furry loved ones. For the safety of our patients, staff, clients and the general public we have implemented a few changes to our regular routine. Please inform us BEFORE attending the clinic if you have traveled in the last 2 weeks or had close contact with people who have traveled in the last 2 weeks. Additionally, please do not attend t...he clinic if you are unwell or have had contact with a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 case. We will do our best to organise an alternative limited contact method of providing health care to your pet. We ask that only one family member attend the consult to limit the number of people in the clinic at any time. If necessary, we can have a phone conversation with other family members unable to be present. Please remember to maintain social distancing within the clinic. Payment by card is preferred over cash at this time, thank you. Starting Wednesday this week we have organised the staff into 3 teams of one vet and two nurses with phone communication only between teams. While this will allow us the security of offering continued service it will also reduce staff available on a day to day level. As always, urgent cases will be prioritised. We ask for your patience when phoning the clinic as it may take longer to get to the phone and hold times may increase. This current situation is ever evolving, where necessary we will adjust our protocols in order to follow bio-security guidelines. At all times we will keep you, our valued clients, informed. Stay safe and remember to practice random acts of kindness See more

19.01.2022 COVID-19 Update We wanted to let you know that vets have been declared essential services. This means that we will be able to stay open and will be there to care for your beloved pets even in the event of a complete pandemic shutdown. Services will be limited to essential appointments and surgeries. Please call and we will be able to advise you how this relates to your circumstance. We continue to ask you to phone the clinic for all appointments, medications, pet food and over the counter purchases to maintain our commitment to staff and client safety. 18.01.2022 Little Harry wants to wish you all a happy Saturday He dropped in for his puppy vaccination and charmed us all with his sweet nature
15.01.2022 Heaven really is a place on earth! As Darcie found out when she went on a housecall with Eric to help him vaccinate this beautiful, mischievous girl along with her 4 sisters and 3 brothers. So many puppy cuddles! We are jealous Darcie! This is their first vaccination and it’s an important step to provide them with protection against 3 deadly viruses- Canine Parvovirus (Parvo), Canine Distemper virus and Canine Adenovirus (canine hepatitis).... Parvovirus is a very contagious viral infection, common in this area. Puppies can become infected by sniffing infected faeces or direct contact with an infected dog. The virus is very hardy, remaining active in the environment and soil for months. Dogs can shed the virus before they show signs of illness and for weeks after the disease has resolved, meaning dogs that look healthy can be a source of infection. Clinical signs include depression, not eating, vomiting and profuse diarrhoea which is often bloody. Infected puppies require immediate life-saving treatment. Severe disease can result in death. Vaccination is highly effective at protecting against Parvovirus. The best way to protect your new little family member from deadly disease is to provide the full course of 3 puppy vaccinations. Call 5495 2699 if you have any questions and to make an appointment
15.01.2022 A huge and heartfelt thanks to our amazing nurses this week. Due to pandemic protocols now in place their workload has skyrocketed. Behind the scenes our nurses are working incredibly hard, however they have continued to greet everyone with the same warm smile and caring demeanor as usual. We are so fortunate to have these incredible professionals on our team. We would like to also thank our wonderful clients for being flexible, for working with us in these changing times,... for making difficult times easier As you will appreciate with only one vet working each day appointments are limited. If your situation changes and you are unable to attend the clinic for any reason we ask that you please call to cancel your appointment. This means that we can offer this valuable time to someone else. Ph 5495 2699 Jester does not know how to social distance but he does make us smile
15.01.2022 A quick word about your appointment. As you will appreciate our available appointments are limited and lately we are usually fully booked for at least a week in advance. Surgical times are fully booked for up to 3 weeks in advance. It is therefore highly frustrating when a client does not show up to a pre-booked appointment or surgery without notice. We understand that plans change however we would appreciate sufficient notice so that the appointment time can be offered to ...another valued patient. No-shows for appointments or surgery may result in a deposit being requested before a second booking can be made. The decision to request a deposit will be evaluated on a case by case basis. If your situation changes and you are unable to attend the clinic, we ask that you please call to cancel your appointment. Ph 5495 2699 See more

This includes things like coughing, sore throat, runny nose, nausea, if you feel sick you're likely to be contagious. We are working hard to keep a safe environment for our staff and clients. Please be considerate and do not attend the clinic if you or a family member have been unwell. Speak to our friendly staff about alternative... options for providing veterinary care to your pet if you are unable to attend the clinic due to illness. Phone 5495 2699 See more

11.01.2022 We are restricting the number of clients entering the clinic due to the recent COVID19 cases in South East QLD as part of our COVID safe plan. To best protect our clients, the community and our valued staff members we will return to ONE client per patient inside the clinic. If you or a family member are currently unwell or have recently visited a COVID hotspot we ask you to inform us BEFORE entering the clinic. We will organise an alternative consultation arrangement. To co...mply with contact tracing requirements we are obligated to record full contact details for every person who enters the clinic. We thank you for your patience and understanding Stay safe and well See more
10.01.2022 Paralysis tick season has started. In South East Queensland we do see tick affected animals all year round, however with the warming weather the number of ticks in the environment increases rapidly. Paralysis in mammals is caused by a neurotoxin secreted in the saliva of the paralysis tick as it feeds on the blood of its host. In dogs a change in bark may be the first sign noticed and they may also regurgitate food. As muscles get progressively weaker a wobbly hind limb gait... and eventually paralysis of all four legs will occur. Cats may become agitated and appear to have difficulty breathing, they will also develop muscle weakness. The muscles responsible for breathing and the heart itself become affected in advanced cases. Tick paralysis progresses quickly and is usually fatal without treatment. Tick paralysis is an easily preventable disease, the products available now are reliable and cost effective. Treat dogs with one of three products- Bravecto, Simparica or Nexgard. Cats can be treated with Bravecto spot-on or revolution plus. Talk to our friendly staff to find out which product would best suit your needs. If you find a tick on your pet call the clinic 5495 2699 for an appointment or advice- if you remove the tick please bring it with you for identification.
