21.01.2022 Today’s Schedule

20.01.2022 Are your lips moving Ecka? Masks on for today’s show! Masks courtesy of Nina at Bikinis to Ballroom, Sunshine Coast!

18.01.2022 https://youtu.be/PH3lRbnVR5w You may have already listened to some of Eric Read's songs, including Proud to be an Anzac (The Ballad of Billy Torrance) which are deep and heartfelt. For the most part, Eric Read is a funny man, his humour inspired by his late father John, who told him many jokes and yarns, which John and his mates drew on to uplift their spirits throughout their lives and especially on the battle front during World War Two.... So most of Eric's songs are comedy songs, including this song Downsizing released this year. Inspired by the yarns of a few old mates over a few beers in recent years, Downsizing came to fruition during the COVID-19 home isolation of March 2020. Downsizing was written by Eric in our apartment on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia, vocals by Eric and produced by Leo Dalton, Pickin' Parlour Records, Upwey, Victoria, Australia. Eric won the 2020 Tamworth Songwriters' Association Comedy Novelty Song of the Year award with Wouldn't Be Dead for Quids. We were in complete lockdown at the time we filmed this clip for Downsizing! Hope you have a bit of a laugh at Downsizing, which is now on Soundcloud https://soundcloud.com/eri/downsizing-final-mix-with-vocals and will be available on Spotify, itunes and many other streaming services very soon. Look out for news of more music on the way to you from our home in sunny Queensland, Australia. Stay safe and well, wherever you are.

16.01.2022 Today, Remembrance Day, I'm am thinking about all who have made sacrifices for our freedom and way of life. I have the utmost respect and admiration for my forebears who have served: Private William Torrance (WW1), great uncle. Alexander Gordon Read (WW1), paternal grandfather.... John Westland Torrance (WW1), grandfather. John Frederick Read (WW2), my father. Ada Madge Read (Torrance) (WW2), my mother. John Westland Torrance (WW2), uncle. Eric Timothy John Gash (WW2), my wife Jacinta's grandfather. Especially today - I am thinking about my wonderful mother Ada (Madge) Read, who was born in Cromwell, New Zealand, on this day 98 years ago, November 11, 1922. A beautiful lady and mother, her unconditional love lives on within me. I am so proud of both my parents, always in my mind and heart.
