06.01.2022 ON COVID-19 With everything happening right now, I would like to encourage you to practice self-isolation when you’re able, definitely social distancing, and hand washing, or take additional steps to ensure you are protected from this dreadful Novel COVID-19. Those with compromised immunity are warned of what could happen if you catch the virus; a virus that right now has no cure nor vaccine. For those who are normally healthy with no underlying issues, the fear is that you... may by asymptomatic (not sick) but could end up being a vector/carrier. Based on experience with other coronaviruses, the people at most risk of serious infection include: people with weakened immune system older people (People who are older than 60 (or 50 in the case of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders) are more likely to have a chronic condition or weaker immune system and so are at greater risk) people with diagnosed chronic medical conditions (such as lung conditions and kidney failure) people with diabetes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, who have higher rates of chronic illness very young children and babies (source: https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/coronavirus-covid-19-groups) There are a whole range of precautions that health professionals are requesting we all adhere to not only for your sake, but also for the sake of those who are in the front-line battling this unprecedented onslaught these people are out on the field so we can stay home. Here’s the link on how to protect yourselves against this virus: https://www.health.gov.au//novel-coronavirus-2019-ncov-hea Also, From 13 March 2020 to 30 September 2020 (inclusive), new MBS telehealth items are available for services to vulnerable people within the community or in suspect cases in self-isolation due to COVID 19. You can check with your GP is they are offering this service, particularly if you are only after your prescription. More information below: http://www.mbsonline.gov.au//publ/Content/Factsheet-TempBB On the more practical side, I encourage you to speak to your accountants and business advisors to see if you are able to avail the government’s stimulus package, particularly those in the short-term accommodation. Speak to your bank to see if they are able to work with you in surviving this fallout. I shall be contacting you as scheduled when your audit is due lodgements are now done via a portal, so at this stage, everything is still running as normal. Please let me know if there are any issues or matters that we need to let them know if you are unable to produce records. Let us take this seriously, and I am praying that in the next few months, we could all go back to normal programming. Please take care everyone I am just a phone call away. Erika
