25.01.2022 Erindale Bolt 2020. Yesterday we ran the annual Erindale Bolt, which is a foot race amongst the TSP squads to see who is the fastest. This year Georgia Willey (Girls Footy Codes) won the girls race, and there was a dead heat in the boys with the video replay unable to separate Tyrel Kimori-Edmond (Rugby League) and Connor Higgins (Rugby Union). Additional events were run, including the egg toss, piggy back race and the gumboot toss. Lots of fun was had by all.
25.01.2022 Teacher v Students in local Rugby League Grand Final. The Gungahlin Bulls will take on the Canberra Raiders U20’s in the First Grade Grand Final on Sunday. Connor Williams and Jackson Owen (currently injured) have been regulars in the Bull’s line up for 2020. Ash Barnes is their TSP teacher at Erindale College, but is also the Canberra Raiders U20’s coach. The match up on Sunday will lead to many conversations in the coming weeks. Good luck to all concerned.

19.01.2022 A big thank you to Caroline Chisholm School who hosted the male basketball team on Thursday. With limited school competition available to both squads in the current environment, we accepted an invitation from Caroline Chisholm teacher April Croft to split our male team in two and have a hit out. It was a great way to finish Term 3 with the boisterous crowd treated to some accurate outside shooting and several big dunks. While Erindale won this meeting, Caroline Chisholm will have a chance for redemption in Term 4 where we have another game planned.

17.01.2022 School Uniform and Dress Code Last newsletter had information about our new uniform options and we encourage students to purchase these items particularly as we move into cooler weather, this gives a good option for what to wear each day without having to plan appropriate attire. Please keep a look out for more information on ordering these items. School uniforms have been linked to creating a stronger sense of school identity, especially when developed in partnership with th...e school community. This stronger sense of identity has been linked in turn to improved student wellbeing. School uniforms have a number of other benefits, including: Promoting a sense of belonging among students. Making school clothing more affordable for families and reducing perceived. pressure for students to wear fashionable items. Promoting the safety of students through easier identification. Helping students to learn the importance of appropriate presentation. Dress Code Students are reminded that they are to be dressed appropriately while attending college. Students may be reminded to follow this dress code policy if they are not dressed appropriately and may be asked to change. Erindale College’s dress code policy aligns with other ACT government colleges. It takes into account the diverse nature of the student population and the economic, personal, social and cultural factors affecting students and their families. Students are required to adhere to standards of cleanliness and dress. These standards are those generally accepted as appropriate in a school setting. Clothing that is revealing or can cause offence (e.g. racist or obsence) or advertising inappropriate products is not acceptable. Students undertaking specialised activities such as food preparation or working with machinery must wear appropriate clothing and enclosed footwear. Diana Whymark Principal

05.01.2022 Congratulations to the female basketball team who have earned a Grand Final spot in the ACT U19 Division 1 competition. Facing Norths, who we had not defeated in the 2 previous meetings this season, the players fought back from an early deficit to take the game to overtime on a big time play from Zali Andrews (26 pts) with 3 seconds left in regular time. As we entered the extra period, all players turned it up a notch and put a gap in the score line that, despite some late 3 pointers from Norths, the opposition could not pull back. Special mention to Michayla Wood (18 pts) whose long range 3’s kept the opponents defence spread and allowed our bigs to do their work under the basket. The Grand Final will be held at Belconnen basketball stadium, 4.45pm Sunday December 6.

04.01.2022 Leadership in Rugby With limited competitions this year the Erindale College TSP has continued to work with students providing them opportunities to challenge and better themselves. It has been a big week for the Rugby Squad whom went to Birrigai and were challenged both physically and mentally through a number of leadership activities. A big thank you to the fantastic staff Rob and Grant who facilitated the day.... On Wednesday the Pacifika Cultural Group mainly comprised of Rugby players performed at the Term Three Awards Assembly acknowledging the wide variety of cultures we have here at the school. Once again they raised the energy levels and promoted multiculturalism amongst our peers. I would also like to acknowledge the hard work and diligence of Pat Maka, Tony Alofipo and Willie Delamere who despite all representative competitions being cancelled this year they have continued to train hard for the Brumbies Senior Academy. All three boys are successfully balancing school, playing senior men’s grade Rugby (and killing it) and the Brumbies Academy. Well done. Next week the Rugby squad will be cooking a BBQ for the TSP annual Squad Olympics held during LINK. Dan Hawke
