25.01.2022 Do you have any English Lavender in your garden? English Lavender (lavandula angustifolia) is starting to develop flowers now and is usually ready to harvest in late December to early January. English Lavender is a great variety for drying. Its' flower shape gives it the ability to be stripped for herbal uses and oil content makes it better to dry. The other varieties contain camphor which also makes them inedible. Bunches should be cut low so that the stems are long (but be careful not to over-prune), and can be hung upside down to dry. And 'bee' careful while you are harvesting, as our buzzy little friends love lavender too!
