25.01.2022 Were on a short break, happy Easter back on the 23rd

25.01.2022 A sneak peek at something I’m working on, coming soon

24.01.2022 When its called for, highly mechanical shoes (ones that increase the bone angle in the hoof) come in handy and really help our friends

24.01.2022 Here are some directly glued aluminium at 6 weeks, nice and solid no movement and re shod images afterward. Often seeing great results with heel quality using this method

23.01.2022 Great feedback from happy clients this week Archie, an 18 year old Arabian x Riding Pony, was acting unusually, pig-rooting and shying whilst being ridden, especially in the canter. X-rays showed low PA (Palma angle) and poor pastern alignment in his front hooves leading to early arthritis. This was treated with a careful trim and shoeing with 3 degree NBPLRs or as his owners dubbed them, Jimmy Choo stilettos and arthritis medication. Archie has now made a full recovery and is back to his old self, cantering around the paddock and being ridden happily. What a nice gesture! Picture of Archies painted shoes

23.01.2022 Home trim day Sunday

22.01.2022 My thoughts on some great shoes available now

22.01.2022 Heres my driveway this morning, flooded in folks possibly 2-3 days. Thanks for your patience

22.01.2022 A new Vet referral today, mild lameness in front, localised below fetlock. These shoes will address hoof pastern alignment with the 3 degree graduation and also reduce break over leverage. Looking forward to the feedback in 5 weeks.

21.01.2022 catch the buckskin filly in the front paddock, just a trim

21.01.2022 Got to love my wife’s sense of humour - we have been doing lots of therapeutic podiatry work lately and working on different elevations to suit conformation, laminitis and injury rehabilitation. Courtney asks - What’s the plan to bring me back down from my elevation package She will be okay as long as she doesn’t over do the Melbourne Cup luncheon - go easy on the carbs

20.01.2022 Covid clean out discovery! Remember in the old days the photographer would send an envelope with tiny proof images weeks after a comp I Shod these boys in ODwyer Concave in front and Shaw flat hacks with welded studs behind

19.01.2022 Clear sealant looks great and helps to manage these great little hooves

19.01.2022 8 weeks in Glu-Shu! These really stay on! Obviously for performance or therapeutic benefit 5 weeks is recommended

18.01.2022 Poor fella, Superficial Flexor tendon and Annular ligament tear, on the lead for 3 months, we anticipate a full recovery #erinthefarrier #eventer #farrierlife

17.01.2022 at least it was the last one for the day #shortcutsdonpay

13.01.2022 Heres an interesting article on surfaces take home messages heavier horses experienced more strain on soft tissues during mid stance in deep surfaces lighter horses experienced more strain on soft tissues during mid stance in firm surfaces... https://thehorse.com//footing-surfaces-and-loading-on-equ/

12.01.2022 Now my horses shod in aluminium can enjoy the same benefits gained from hot steel

11.01.2022 6 months since a suspensory ligament tear, with his canter licence reinstated and competition scheduled in the coming weeks these will be his suspensory management shoes going forward very satisfied

11.01.2022 Yes, following up with another broom test so cool to make this horse more comfortable and increase his ability to perform

10.01.2022 Next level to try and effect change on NPA hinds, 10 degree improvement on dorsal wall hopefully he can maintain this angle, Accupuncture and body work is part of the plan

09.01.2022 Earned 7 CE credits for my efforts attending a great therapeutic shoeing/trimming clinic today! Thanks to the clinician Jaret Pullen and Jen Lugton for hosting A thought provoking insightful workshop!

08.01.2022 Horses brought in from the back paddock and popped in our safe paddock for tomorrows catastrophic fire danger. Plan sorted for all other fur kids as well

08.01.2022 And sometimes things dont go to plan....

08.01.2022 Heres a 5mm leather rim pad applied for chronic side bone. For Dressage use it provides premium concussion absorption, allows the inside branch of the shoe to penetrate the arena surface on tight radius turns reducing the risk of further inflammation, extra leverage reduction also built into the shoe.

07.01.2022 Omni directional leverage reduction restoring mobility to an old retired quarter horse #erinthefarrier #ringbone #naviculardisease #quarterhorses

07.01.2022 Super quick wall repair with Vettec Adhere

05.01.2022 Theres something special about shoeing under a big old tree

04.01.2022 Internal damage from laminitis can play havoc with circulation and the healing process. These alloy rocker shoes are getting great results look at that growth

04.01.2022 Here we are using the bi-plane trim technique to correct NPA (negative plantar angle) 3 degrees achieved with the trim and another 3 with the shoe fitted with monitoring and 4 week cycle we expect the hind posture to improve and return to normal or ‘correct’ over approximately 7 months.

04.01.2022 Hi all, In light of the recent events I thought it was best to complete the e module available on the Department of health website on infection control.
