My friend Karanja is an incredible leader not only in his community, but Eddie Rice communities all throughout Austra...lia, through the various people he has been involved with through the Immersions he coordinates [for Edmund Rice Foundation Australia]. 01.01.2022 DETENTION FOR DETENTION Well done St Patricks College, Shorncliffe, who along with other Edmund Rice schools around Australia, took a detention today as part of our advocacy network ERA for Change. "This was an act of solidarity with those children who are being held in detention. As a Catholic school in the Edmund Rice tradition, we state publicly that we try to live by gospel values. One key gospel message, most clearly stated in Matthews gospel, is the importance of welcoming the stranger. As Catholics, we are called to have compassion for the most vulnerable people in our society, and to help to amplify their voices.
