23.01.2022 There’s a new kid on the Emergency WA block! DFES and the Department of Health (HealthyWA) have partnered to customise the Emergency WA website (www.emergency.w...a.gov.au) to include map-based ‘human pandemic’ warnings if they’re needed. The website is now equipped to show localised outbreaks of COVID-19 and provide targeted information to communities impacted. While we hopefully don’t have to use it, this enhancement is part of the WA Government preparation for potential outbreaks of COVID-19 in WA. To help keep the community safe, remember to: Practise good hygiene and wash your hands regularly. Maintain a physical distance from others where possible. Stay home if you’re sick. If you’re experiencing symptoms, get tested immediately. Stay home and self-isolate if you are waiting for your test results.

11.01.2022 We all know just how hard 2020 has been. Here in WA, our State is in the best possible position as we continue our strong recovery from COVID-19. But times are... still tough for many Western Australians, and there is always more work to do. At the start of the pandemic, to give everyone certainty, we rolled out a freeze on all household fees and charges. Today, as a result of our strong budget management over the last three years, we can now go one step further. Every household in Western Australia will receive a historic, one-off $600 Household Electricity Credit. The WA Household Electricity Credit will be automatically applied to every Synergy or Horizon Power residential account as of today. You will see it on your own bill in November and December. It'll mean WA families have a bit of extra money available in the lead up to Christmas. The $600 credit is fully funded through the recent Bell Group settlement, for the losses incurred in the Bell Group collapse in the early 1990s. It made sense that these funds go straight back to Western Australians. Especially in times like these, when people may need that bit of extra financial relief because of COVID-19. But I have a request: If this credit means you can spend some extra money, use it to support our local WA businesses. By spending local, you'll be helping to support WA jobs, support your fellow West Aussies, and keep WA safe and strong.

06.01.2022 ESPERANCE BUSINESS OWNERS - Your feedback is needed Economic modelling firm REMPLAN is conducting a survey about the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on businesses. While WA’s response rate was initially fairly robust, the response rate in our particular region has been subdued. Click through to take part in the survey (takes 3min 40sec ) https://surveys.remplan.com.au/s3/REMPLAN-COVID-19-ABEIS As you can appreciate, any local and regional data about business health is vital in terms of helping local government and industry bodies to better understand the real economic impact of COVID-19 in our region.
