This survival guide aims to have you wakening up to a Boxing Day feeling calm, rested and where your memory of Christmas is a happy one. Over the next few days I have put together a few stress-reducing strategies to help you enjoy a calmer and hopefully happier Christmas. A brief word about stress it is not all bad! It’s ...a part of our natural survival mechanism and is useful for taking us out of dangerous situations. It comes into play when we feel ourselves or our safety is threatened and often makes us want to run away or the ground to swallow us up. Stress is also related to the difference we feel exists between expectations and reality either real or imagined. So, if you believe (and remember we often believe things that aren’t quite true) that your friends or family expect you to be Santa himself arranging amazing gifts - the less you feel able to do this the higher your stress level becomes. Take some time to work out what expectations are realistic and then free yourself of the exhausting, unhealthy stress-inducing ones. You can be a better, calmer happier you for Christmas. See more
