24.01.2022 A great article about this approach to supporting children with anxiety. And it's not just anxiety. We want to support our children and protect them the best wa...y we can. Is immediate relief beneficial in the long run? It's food for thought. At our "Being a Parent Coach" workshop, we are exploring what changes we can make, however small, that will generate a positive shift in your child, whether it's their confidence, anxiety, dependence, anger, stubbornness... that you are dealing with. Come and share with us your challenges and bring a few tools home, that you can start using with your child. 4 sessions available: 30th May & 1st June - Nunawading https://being-a-parent-coach-ec.eventbrite.com.au 13th June - 2 sessions at Docklands https://being-a-parent-coach.eventbrite.com.au

23.01.2022 We're always told to speak kindly to others and if you don't have a nice word to say, don't say it. We are also reminded to treat others as you would like to be treated yourself. But we may need to start reminding ourselves to also "treat ourselves the way we would treat others". So many of us use very harsh words with ourselves. "I'm so stupid!", "This isn't good enough!", "I'll never be able to do that."... If you can't go to the person nearest to you right now, and say th...ose words to them, then why would you say it to yourself? Sometimes we're in need of encouragement, but what if there's no-one around to give it to us? Be our own encourager! Start each day with a kind and encouraging word to yourself and use those words to ride through the challenges you might face throughout the day. #eruptconsulting #kindness #beencouraged #strengthfortheday See more

21.01.2022 How many of you know that the words RED and ORANGE in this image, are exactly the same colour? Even the slight difference in the background colour causes these 2 words to be seen as a different colour. So is it just RED or ORANGE we would see? Well, for some, there is no RED. All of these are just shades of ORANGE or vice versa. Some might be asking "What do you mean by the words RED and ORANGE? I only see black words." Some will say "I don't really care what you call those c...olours, but the colours really bother me!" There will also be those who will say "Oh I know what this is about" and then move to the next post. Whether you saw the words, liked the colours or thought you knew what this post was about, they’re your responses to this post placed against your backdrop. Because of your backdrop, this post has a certain meaning to you that generates your immediate response. When you change your backdrop, this post can mean something different and therefore produce different response. We go through life with our unique backdrop that was created when we were born and silently our own backstage crew has been and continues to be adding detail to our backdrop while we’re busy focusing on the action front of stage. Little do we know that the power of this backdrop is not only to give the scene more context, but that it has the power to create the whole story in the scene. We place everything against this backdrop which creates a meaning and response to everything we see, hear, feel, smell and taste. Our backdrop has helped us make decisions, protected us, upskilled us and the list goes on. But are there scenes in life where this backdrop doesn’t serve us best? What if we had a backdrop that can be adjusted to give us the most helpful meaning and response in a given situation? Even a very slight shift in the backdrop colour from left to right in this image, made the words RED and ORANGE appear different even though they’re exactly the same colour. What if we paused next time we have a negative initial response to a situation (I stress, NON-Life threatening!) and ask ourselves If I shift my backdrop, can I see this a different way? The more flexible your backdrop, the more you’ll see of the world! #flexiblemindset #perception #meaningleadstoaction #eruptconsulting

19.01.2022 Have you ever wondered why one of your children is doing quite well at school, while another is not. You've been just as encouraging and supportive. You've given them the same love and opportunities. But this one is still struggling even though you know they're a bright child. It's not only our appearances, strengths and interests that make us different. There are different ways we prefer to learn and different things that stir up our curiosity to want to learn. The beauty o...f being a coach to your child, is your flexibility to supporting your child the way that works best for them. Come a long to one of our sessions and start equipping yourself and building this flexibility. 4 sessions available: 30th May & 1st June - Nunawading https://being-a-parent-coach-ec.eventbrite.com.au 13th June - 2 sessions at Docklands https://being-a-parent-coach.eventbrite.com.au

18.01.2022 Some weaknesses may not be weaknesses and some may even be strengths held back by other weaknesses. If we stay curious about ourselves, and experiment with what we think are our weaknesses, we may discover some of our strengths hidden in our weaknesses, enabling further growth. Let's be CURIOUS and EXPERIMENT!
16.01.2022 We may dislike criticism or feel uncomfortable with it and it may be because we feel judged, attacked or hurt. Whatever the reason, it’s a personal discomfort. While we can't stop people giving criticism, we can choose what to do with that criticism. What is criticism? According to the dictionary, it involves 'passing judgement'. What qualifies someone to give criticism? Nothing, because anyone can give criticism!... Well if qualification is not required, then criticism is an opinion. The person giving the criticism is passing a judgement measured against their own belief of what is best, correct or true. If it’s their belief of what is best, correct or true, it’s just that - their belief. It’s an opinion, a suggestion, a recommendation - it’s the plate of veggies sitting on the table in front of you. It has no effect on you until you do something with it even though it was made for you. It isn’t going to jump onto you and force itself down your throat, nor is it going to attempt to harm you in any way. You get to decide what impact that plate of veggies has on you. When criticism has no power over us, we’re able to make a more objective decision on how useful it is. Let us ponder this What if the criticism given was not originally intended to be criticism? An opinion? A suggestion? A recommendation? A plate of veggies? #eruptconsulting #makecriticismuseful #resilience

09.01.2022 We had a great time at the Nunawading sessions last week. Already, participants are sharing with me what they've put into practice and how it has worked for them. This was what one of our participants, Jenny, had to say - "It was amazing to see all the attendees’ 'ah-hah' moments while scribbling pages of notes from the amount of truth Rowena shared and the tools she taught us that could be utilised straight away. I have learnt so much."... If you're still thinking about it, don't delay. Get your ticket to one of the following sessions now, or keep an eye out for new Nunawading sessions. 13th June - 2 sessions at Docklands - 7:30-9am - 12:30-2pm https://being-a-parent-coach.eventbrite.com.au
02.01.2022 Nothing makes your message more powerful than when you show people you’re not the perfect human being with no troubles/challenges/trials in your life. People hear and feel what we say when they can connect with us. The higher and the more perfect we seem, the harder it is for someone to feel connected to us. Vulnerability is the hand that reaches out and says I’ve tripped, I’ve messed up, I’ve failed, I’ve struggled but I got back up, I tried again, I gained experience, I l...earnt and it’s ok. Vulnerability does not show weakness. Vulnerability gains RESPECT! Vulnerability is AUTHENTICITY! Vulnerability CONNECTS PEOPLE! #eruptconsulting #vulnerability #connectwithpeople
