I’ve lived in Slade Point for 13 years..., I’ve been a Beautician for 16 years and a PT/Nutrition Coach for 6 years. I’m also a Mum of 2 beautiful children and wife of my high school sweetheart for 19 years. (As you can see, I’m committed to my choices! ) It is my mission to bring more awareness to the Holistic side of Beauty, Health and Wellness. Exercise! ... -- Exercise is one of the most important things you can do to combat stress.It might seem contradictory, but putting physical stress on your body through exercise, can relieve mental stress. It also releases endorphins, and helps with sleep 2. Light a Candle! -- Using essential oils or burning a scented candle can help reduce your feelings of stress and anxiety. Some scents are especially soothing -- with Lavender being one of the best. 3. Write It Down! -- One way to handle stress is to write things down. Whether it be a 'stress jar' or a 'gratitude journal', there are many various relaxation techniques that can help people successfully manage their problems. 4. Reduce Your Caffeine Intake! -- Caffeine is a stimulant found in coffee, tea, chocolate and energy drinks. Among other things, high doses can increase anxiety, and can unnecessarily heighten brain activity making you jittery. It's best to avoid highly caffeinated products and switch to an effective substitute, instead. 9. Learn to Say No. -- Not all stressors are within your control, but some are. Take control over the parts of your life that you can change and are causing you stress. One way to do this may be to say "no" more often, especially if you're taking too much on at a time. 10. Listen to Soothing Music! -- Listening to music can have a very relaxing effect on the body. Slow-paced instrumental music can induce the relaxation response by helping lower blood pressure and heart rate as well as stress hormones.
24.01.2022 Super proud of this girl! 6 weeks ago, Crystal (16), came to me with her Mum wanting to build endurance and cardio fitness so that she could progress in her interest of running. At only 16, she has committed to 2 x 1 hour sessions 1 on 1 with me every week. She does everything I ask of her and her progress is amazing! ... Her pace is improving. Her endurance is improving. Her strength is improving. Legs, Glutes, Abs and Back strength play KEY roles in running, and are SUPER important to work on if you want an injury free running life. So it’s not just about getting the K’s up...You have to work on everything. Today’s session was about building muscle strength and fatiguing the legs without the impact of running (again, super important if you want to avoid injuries - TRUST ME) We started with a lap around the oval and a series of shuttle drills. We then moved onto a HIIT style circuit consisting of Fitball Bridges, Hamstring Curls, Plated Side Lunges, Plated Wall Sit, Toe Taps, Elevated Deadlifts, Ab Rollouts and Plank Get Ups. 2 rounds with another lap in between and finished off with a speed/resistance Bike interval set.... there were definitely some death wobbles in the legs towards the end! #sorrynotsorry I just had to recognise her efforts after today, we increased a lot of her weights and she gave 110%! Her commitment truly astounds me and I can’t wait to see what she achieves!

23.01.2022 On the first day of Christmas my PT gave to me... One F-ing Burpee! Thanks for the Sweat Sesh yesterday Di... It truly was the gift that kept on giving!... Give it a go at home. 90 seconds for each adding on for each set. So you start by having 90 seconds to do one Burpee and by the time you get to 12, you have 90 seconds to get EVERYTHING done! Erin’s tip ... take advantage of the beautiful long rest times at the start, coz they get shorter real quick! Lol

22.01.2022 A little something I’m working on... I went shopping yesterday and was super excited to see the stone fruit in season coming out. I spotted some delicious looking apricots and know that my husband LOVES apricot chicken! It is his childhood fave. However, the version he grew up on is made with tinned apricot nectar and French onion soup. So I decided to start working on a clean whole foods version.... First attempt wasn’t too bad I must say. A few tweaks needed, so going to have another attempt in a couple of weeks.

20.01.2022 Christmas Hedgehog Log So many social events and end of year gatherings - this little treat is perfect to take to a BBQ or morning tea. Enjoy!!! INGREDIENTS... cup of cacao butter (melted) 3 tbls coconut oil (melted) 1 cup rice malt syrup 2 tsp vanilla bean syrup Pinch of sea salt 1 cup of cacao powder 1 cup of desiccated coconut 1 cup of walnuts 3/4 cup roasted almonds Extra 1 cup of desiccated coconut METHOD In a large tray, spread almonds evenly and pop in the oven for 20 minutes on 180C to roast (alternatively you can buy them roasted) Blend cacao butter, coconut oil, rice malt syrup, vanilla bean essence, pinch of salt and cacao until smooth and creamy and set aside Process walnuts until fine and add desiccated coconut. Once the walnuts and coconut are combined, place in a large bowl Process almonds until crushed and very fine and then add to the large bowl Pour over the chocolate mixture and combine all ingredients. Tear a large piece of foil and sprinkle around 1/3 cup coconut in the center evenly. Scoop the mixture over the coconut in the foil and mould into a long log form while scattering coconut over the top. Roll the log slowly in the foil a few times ensuring coconut has covered the entire outside of the dessert and fold foil tightly and set in the freezer for 1-2 hours. To serve, remove from freezer and place in fridge for 20 minutes. Cut as little or as thick slices as you like and store in fridge. Enjoy!

08.01.2022 I can’t believe we are at the end of Term 3 already! What a whirlwind 2020 it has been so far. Yesterday we had our last Fit Kidz class for the term and with much nagging from the kids, we did a 1 hour class instead of 30 minutes they didn’t want to stop, so who am I to say no?! ... I am so proud of the kids and their resilience through everything this year has thrown at them. They’ve come back, given it their all, cracked some PB’s and they’ve had fun and made friends while doing so. Can’t wait to see them all again next term. 07.01.2022 Tomorrow mornings yoga we will be amping up the energy with a yang yin yoga class. I have been keeping the classes mellow due to what's going on in the world,... focussing on lowering the anxiety and the stress on the nervous system. However tomorrow we will add some strength based postures to our class and follow it with some yin poses. Looking forward to seeing you on your mats. 05.01.2022 I just LOVE training these kids! Yesterday they did their last fitness test for the term and we saw lots of PB’s! We finished off with a game of Netball/Keepings Off. The kids pulled the parents in, so we had a game of Boys vs Girls. Lots of fun and laughs from all! We also had a couple of young spectators ask to join in. Nothing beats the feeling of seeing enjoy and want to be a part of health and fitness. And the icing on the cake is seeing them improve each week! ... Next week is our last class for Term 3. 04.01.2022 As much as I love pushing people past their comfort zones and thrive on seeing them achieve things they never thought possible, one of my favourite classes is also our Matworx class. A combination of Pilates and Yoga, we get all those finer muscle groups flexing and burning, but all that is forgotten and forgiven when we move to our meditation. My other favourite thing to do is make people feel good, and our meditation does just that. ... Because it’s not just all about the huffy puffy. It’s about MIND, Body and SOUL.

02.01.2022 Well that’s Christmas done and dusted for another year. 2020 is nearly over. Thank god, some might say. Not me. 2020 was full of lessons. Yes, some good, some bad. But I’m grateful for all of them. ... 2020 bought change. MASSIVE change. But I’m grateful for all of it. 2020 also bought courage. Stepping outside of my comfort zone. WAY outside of it. It bought new friendships and showed me those friendships to be grateful for. Now it’s onto a new year I’m not buying into the New Year New Me BS. 2021 is about stepping out as me. As I am. Loving every part of me. Loving what I have done and what I’m going to achieve. As kids we know who we are... It’s the world that makes us lose sight of that. Well, I’m FINDING her. EMBRACING her.
