23.01.2022 Wishing our English Setter community a safe and HAPPY EASTER, and sending you a bunch of Easter flowers. Also, GOOD FORTUNE to ESAV members, and FB friends, who are attending the Specialty ESC and Setter Club of NSW Championship Shows, together with Sydney Royal Show. I am happy to feature the results, and any pics taken of the winners, once available. A word or two of warning. Remember, chocolate is fatal for dogs, especially dark chocolate, so please ensure those Easter eggs and treats are secured far out of your English Setters' jaws and paws. Last night, the TV news here in Melbourne, issued a pet warning to owners concerning the numerous poisonous mushrooms that are sprouting in parks and gardens at present following the recent rains, and warm days. These are deadly for humans and pets. So do take due care.

20.01.2022 As Christmas Eve approaches, the excitement builds at the Barraclough household. EXPECTATION: "Is that Santa and his Reindeers on our roof?" Fun pics from Simon Barraclough.

13.01.2022 Wise words accompany this pic of two working English Setters featured in the GUNDOG MAGAZINE. Both demonstrate the wonderful relationship that is possible between working dogs owner. A dog that is trained with gentleness, love, praise, and respect, will flourish and try its best. Whereas a dog that is cowed and treated harshly when trained, will be affected negatively. Gun Dog Magazine "Perhaps the only thing a gun dog loves more than the wild birds he pursues is the handle...r he happily delivers them to". This pic of Munro, Supreme Australian Champion Eireannmada Lancaster, demonstrates THE LOOK OF LOVE superbly. It shines out of his eyes, together with the kindness of spirit which the breed possesses in such abundance. possesses.

11.01.2022 The ESAV Committee of Management send Christmas and New Year Greetings to its members, and all those who treasure our breed wherever you are, including our supportive band of F B friends and followers. To echo FDRs words, 2020 is a year "that will live in infamy." It has brought pain and suffering to so many across the world. 08.01.2022 COUNTING THE GROUSE: Wonderful images of English Setters at work in their natural environment. The scenery and the work done by the dogs is spectacular. There are no guns being used for hunting, the exercise was done to count the number of grouse inhabiting the area, and to enable the dogs to show their natural ability. Thank you to Peter Price for alerting me to this film. https://www.facebook.com/antonio.defrancesco.9467/videos/10208663855069317

05.01.2022 Setting and backing: This is how English Setters work together to accomplish their job. It is how we like to see the English Setter Association of Victoria, its Committee of Management, and members, also act to effectively promote the breed and the club. We are hoping that the club's Annual General Meeting will be able to take place as scheduled, next Sunday, 21st February. However, because of the current, and third Covid Stage 4 lock down, we will not know if this is possibl...e, or not, until Wednesday of this coming week. So watch this space for any change in the current arrangements. I hope you enjoy the following artistic impressions of English Setters SETTING AND BACKING. The first example is by Peggy Watkins, a contemporary American artist. It is followed by a vintage print called English Setters Working on the Moors.

02.01.2022 Litter brothers - a fabulous twosome. The blue boy is Grd. Ch. Stagedoor Fast and Furious, and the orange is BISS GRD.CHS Stagedoor Mercury Comet Cyclone. Wow and wow.
